MY REVIEW: Yummy food in a great atmosphere! My friends and I celebrate our special occasions here. The Toffee Crunch Cake is to die for!

MY REVIEW: My mom, sister, my two daughters and I tried Idyl Hours and really loved it. It seems like it is in the middle of nowhere, but it's really easy to get to. They were short staffed the day we visited, but everything still ran smoothly. I especially loved the pasta salad- made with cheese-filled tortellini, I have never had anything like it. Delicious! I would like to go back on a day that the tequila-lime crepes are on the menu, although I was very happy with my "Salad Sampler" and my girls loved the huge slices of quiche lorraine. My mom and sister had the Sampler, and loved the phyllo-crusted spinach pie. It was very different and light.

The only thing I would add to the menu would be a turkey sandwich, (or some other type of deli sandwich) and possibly a croissant offering for the bread. although their wheat bread was good.

The place is an old house, very rustic.

MY REVIEW: This is the best tea room in Houston, hands down. They just introduced their new cookbook. Wow. I gave a copy to all of my friends for Christmas. They were thrilled. Houston's best kept secret.

MY REVIEW: Cute "little" tea room and warm welcoming staff. However, the food is lacking. I tried the mushroom quiche, more like an omlete and had strong overwhelming herb throughout. The tortila soup had a strange smell and flavor was bit odd. The portions were very ample. This would be a charming to place to have lunch if the food was improved.
