We sat in the bar so I do not know how the wait would be. We ordered the fajitas made with different kinds of chilies and it was awesome. The queso was also great. The service was extremely fast. We never went there before because of the name, but now, we have made it "our place." I cannot wait to go back. Esteban's definitely gets three thumbs up. There have been ups and downs over the years, but in the last few months it has been better than ever. Whatever problems they had a couplke of years ago have definitely been resolved. MY REVIEW: We have been going to Esteban's for years. In the last year or so the food quaility has gone down... and I mean way way down. I love the salsa dip, it is the best I have ever eaten but as far as food goes that is the only good I can say about them. The service is good and quick, and the prices are good but we go there for the food. I have given them five chances to prove me wrong but every single time I have gone the food I ordered (cheese enchaladas) is actually cold in the middle, and the beans are burned. Five times so I know that it is not just me. Also the portions have been cut in half. Esteban's used to be the best... now we go elsewhere. He finaly got me in and he was right. It was very very good. Great selection. Terrific chili - the best I've found in a restaurant here. I tend to customize my orders a bit, much to the chagrin of family and friends, and occassionally waitstaff. My requests for this and that was met with a cheerful "hey, Why not! That sounds good!" from the waitperson - a charming, energetic, and extraordinarily cheerful (at lunchtime!)lady from New England. The kitchen humored me - the food was great - out quickly, piping hot, and with generous servings. Nice atmosphere but noisy, but everyone seems to be having a good time. The service was horrible - the waitstaff was too busy talking amongst themselves to bother refilling my tea glass or checking to see if I needed more tortillas. The food was mediocre at best...maybe it was just an off night in the kitchen. There weren't many tables so I don't understand why....the waitress said business was slow the past few days....so why did it take almost 20 minutes to get lukewarm food? I won't be back - I think Esteban's should realize that they aren't the only Mexican restaurant in town and get back to the good service and good food they once served. Great food -- the salsa is THE BEST in town! On all counts, they beat P*apasito's any day in my book. The only downer would be the acoustics in this restaurant -- it is always noisy, which is difficult for my Dad who has hearing problems -- but a bonus to me because it lets my kids be noisy! MY REVIEW: Esteban's has been my favorite place for terrific mexican food since they opened 15 years ago. I eat here at least once a week and have always had a great meal. The food was inconsistent a year or so ago, but lately it's been better than ever. Very kid-friendly, great staff, great food and they give back to the community in many ways. The best I have ever had in any tex mex restaurant Weak points: They cut down on portions dramatically and has become expensive for what you get. This restaurant used to be the only game in town and so the owner never had to put effort towards the restaurant. Now however, too many restaurants have opened and people have options. It is obvious they are exercising the option to go somewhere else. The owner does not seem to see that. Specialties: Fajitas. Desserts: ok Ambiance: very casual, but place is always clean.
