MY REVIEW: Potato salad was OUTSTANDING. It was really creamy and rich. Burgers were ok, but a little dry. Not cool that drinks are not free refills. Cool atmosphere

MY REVIEW: I love this place but after yesterday's visit I realized it is next to impossible to carry on a conversation over the music. The song selection was great but I was there in the middle of the day to visit with a friend and we migrated from inside... to the deck... and finally to a table on the street. I'll be back... but by myself with a good read...

MY REVIEW: Weak: I agree with the "trying too hard to be Austin" review. The staff isn't even close to having the cool factor of Austin waitstaff and are quite laughable in their attempt to be different or quirky. I lived in Austin for 10 years, give it up. The menu is very limited and their version of "pizza" is tomato sauce on a piece of bread with cheese. Yes, the ordering system is a cluster-F@$K

Strong: The sandwiches and burgers are good and the beer selection is wide enough to get what you are craving that day. The best thing is the outside patio and the location if you live in the Heights. It's not worth going to this place if you don't live in the area.

MY REVIEW: My Fiance and I visit at least 3 times a month, and really love Onion Creek. They have a large selection of beers which change on a regular basis, and they are all reasonably priced. The pizza? AMAZING. So are the sandwiches, hummus and hot dogs. I love the large amount of outdoor seating and they open up an outside bar during really busy nights. It is loud in the evenings and on weekends. Sometimes the music, while good, is loud enough that talking is difficult. To end on a positive note, the frozen mimosa really hits the spot on a hot night.

MY REVIEW: OC is usually packed. The WiFi is turned off at 4pm. The line (i.e., lump of people waiting for beer) at the bar is always a bit longer. The music is a bit too loud for talking. There could be more variety in the food, but what they serve is pretty good. I like the pizza, the burgers and the house salad.

So why do I keep going there up to four times a week? Because the place rocks. The barkeepers are always friendly, no matter how bombarded they are with thirst-quenching requests. The patio is great with four distinct areas where you can sit: The front near the street, the raised front in the corner, the covered back and the line of tables near the parking lot (which I believe is the only one where you can bring dogs because it is technically 'outside'). Nobody urges you to leave when you finish your drink, and the plants around the patio shelter you a little from the outside world. Some days they have steak specials grilled outside in a BBQ pit. I would not describe it as a bar, restaurant or cafe, but it has a bit of everything. Very relaxing. The barkeepers are always friendly (I know I said that before, but they are half the reason I prefer OC).

MY REVIEW: I adore Onion Creek. It quickly became a Sunday Ritual for the bf and I:) The food is great!! I haven't ordered something I didn't enjoy. My personal favorite is the Hummas wrap:) The mimosas are great.....

Everyone is friendly and its always a great crowd. If you want something scandolus for ur sunday brunch- go to La S*trada.. wont find that here. It can get crowded- why not?? When its nice out..the patio is it!

Bring a group of friends.. the table is big enough.

MY REVIEW: What a great place. I had the warm OC Po Boy Sandwich, which was very good and served quickly. A fun place to watch a game on the patio televisions or meet friends for drinks or coffee. The place was full of customers at 8:00pm.

MY REVIEW: The wife and I love this place. Very cool, funky, and laid back. The workers there always seem to be friendly and personable which is more than we even ask. We've both tried a few different things and everything is great. We even take our 4 month old in his baby seat and just chill outside on the porch. Just a really cool neighborhood place to kill some time. If you can't relax and enjoy this place then by all means have fun at A*pplebees.

Only complaint is about the bugs outside. Go away stupid bugs.

MY REVIEW: Hey everybody - just wanted to point out that a kitchen taking forever to put out food is not the same as "slow service". It is not the server's fault when the kitchen is slow, so please don't get those two things confused! :)

MY REVIEW: OK, so sue me. I love Onion Creek. Yes, it does get busy at night and on the weekends, and the ordering system, with every bunching up at the counter, is not the most effiecent, but knowing that when I go there, it doesn't upset me or ruin my evening. The staff is always super friendly which, I think if you're friendly too them, you get it in return. However, remember, everyone has their off days at their jobs, particularly jobs that only pay $5.50 an hour....

I love the pizza they have and the sandwhiches. The salads aren't anything special, but they will fill you up and satisfy a salad craving. Their house blend organic coffee is outstanding; the others are just so-so. IT's an overall great place to hang-out with friends.

MY REVIEW: The OC is for chillin' out, not being in a rush. So for those that are complaining you need some "me time". I have been coming here since it opened up and I have never had a problem. For those concerned about cigarette smoke...it's a bar! I can't believe there is so many negative reviews about this place. This is truly a place to go to relax, enjoy a drink and not be so rushed. RELAX!

MY REVIEW: Strong points: great patio, excellent food, excellent coffee, laid-back atmosphere. Weak points: ordering system, rather smallish menu. Onion Creek is pretty much the best place in the Heights to go if you're in the mood for a sandwich and coffee, or breakfast and coffee, or just a beer and a snack. The ordering system is a bit weird--you order at the bar, basically... it can get a bit crazy on the weekends with long waits for food. The food is always great, though--very fresh ingredients, always tasty. They definitely need to open more places like this in the Heights.

MY REVIEW: First the pros: great coffee, diverse beer selection, fantastic patio and decent food.

Now the cons: the service, being routinely treated with disdain (despite being a good tipper), counter help more concerned with being quirky and "different" then providing service. Did I mention that the service sucks?

The only reason we keep going back is location since there are no alternatives in this area. My advice is not to go out of your way to check this place out, there are plenty of places in town where they serve good coffee, beer and know how to treat their customers.

MY REVIEW: I live within walking distance but have never checked this place out. Decided to go one night and arrived at about 11:30pm. We found a table outside and asked the bartender outside if they still served food. She replied yes and gave us some menus. Well, 10 minutes passed and no one came by to take our order. We asked the bartender (the same one that had given us the menus) about ordering. She insisted that she was now off work and that we would have to go inside and order at the bar. (She proceeded to sit down at a large table and tried to ignore us) Great service!!!

Trying to order at the bar was another sorry excuse for restaurant service. We asked a waitress standing next to the bar to please take our order. She refused and told us the only way to order food/drinks is by standing in line at the only open bar.

This place isn't that great. The only good thing about it is the huge deck. Maybe the food is good, but unfortunately we didn't make it that far (I guess the restaurant doesn't care about making money)

We figured screw this place and went down the street to 6*th Street grill where we had great service and food/drinks.

MY REVIEW: Looks like a really great place but.. don't go there on a Sunday around 1:00 or so if you can't wait a long time for your meal.

Waited 45 minutes for a salad and turkey sandwich then only to be told it would be another 15 on top. Sorry but can't be that good. Got a refund and back to work (without lunch).

Doubt it I'll try it again, to me service is as important as the food, I wasn't ordering a complete dinner.
