MY REVIEW: Awesome place to watch a movie! Food is pretty good. It takes a little long to get to you but thats ok with me as long as they keep bringing me beer. Beer selection is excellent. Lots of different stuff to choose from. The best part is there aren't gangs of teens roaming around being loud and no crying babies!

I just dont watch movies anywhere else anymore.

MY REVIEW: Great idea for dinner and a movie together but, more often than not it is poorly executed. The service can be ho-hum to excellent but, the food they're cranking out for the price is ridiclous. I paid almost $10 dollars for the "Alamo Burger" and only got about 13 french fries and it wasn't even that good. Had the cheesecake for dessert and it was the smallest piece of cheesecake I had ever seen, not very tasty and was $6! They need to up the quality of they're food big time or hire someone in the kitchen that can cook. Its like they're trying to cut corners or save a buck or something. Despite the food being mostly average and the very small portions I still come back bc I enjoy the overall experience.

MY REVIEW: I don't know why people say the food is overpriced. By movie theatre standards it is cheap! Plus, the pizza is very, very good. So good I never get anything besides pizza, chips & queso, and fried pickles thus I can't vouch for the rest of the food.

I actually haven't had service problems at this theater but I go early. If you are one of the first to arrive for the movie, you get your food quickly. If you come later after 100 other people have ordered food... what do you expect? They don't have 100 cooks, I'm sure.

The pre-movie entertainment can be hit or miss but it is always thematic. Episodes of "Worst Witch" or silly internet Potter spoofs before a Potter movie, previews for old films containing the actors in whatever you're going to see etc. Beats the same-old previews or heaven forbid, cheesy trivia and commercials.

MY REVIEW: THIS PLACE IS A EXCELLENT MOVIE PLACE. LOVE THE DINNER AND A MOVIE SETUP. PRICES ARE WAY MORE REASONABLE THAN LARGE MOVIE CHAINS. THE BEER AND SANGRIA DRINKS ARE GREAT. ORDERING IS EASY AND FOOD TASTE GOOD.

THE FACILITY IS REALLY A MOVIE BREWARY LIKE CONCEPT. DON'T EXPECT TO BE AT A LARGE CHAIN FACILITY WHICH DOENST HAVE THE BEST FOOD,PRICES AND IS RARELY CLEAN ANYMORE.

I DONT UNDERSTAND THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. I DON'T GO TO BIG MOVIE CHAINS ANYMORE. TIRED OF THE HIGH SCHOOLERS AND KIDS RUNNING AROUND. POPCORN IS NOT GOOD, NACHO CHEESE IN CUPS & WATERY DRINKS.ALAMO IS GREAT. CLEAN MOVIES AND BATHROOMS. THE WAITSTAFF IS FRIENDLY AND GOOD. OUR ORDERS HAVE NEVER BEEN MESSED UP. WE ALWAYS GOT WHAT WE ORDERED.

THE MOVIE IS NOT ALL FANCY BUT COMFORTABLE AND GOES WITH THE BREWARY CONCEPT. THEY HAVE FREE SHOWINGS OF TEXANS FOOTBALL GAMES AND SELECT MOVIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. NO KIDS WITHOUT ADULTS. LOVE THE CONCEPT AND THE FOOD IS GOOD. LOVE THE PIZZA AND CHIPS AND QUESO. CHECKING OUT THE MOVIE T*AVERN TODAY. REVIEW COMING SOON.

MY REVIEW: Being parents of a wonderful 7 month-old baby, this place is perfect for us. We can have someone taking care of the baby for a couple of hours and whilst we enjoy a dinning/movie date.

The staff is very friendly and usually efficient. The food is not great but good. We get chips and queso with salad or burger or pizza. As I said, the food is decent but a bit overpriced. I guess it's the price to pay if you want to be able to watch a movie (in a theatre) and eat real food or drink beer...

However, they should review and change their menu from time to time (some healthy food maybe?). 3 or 4 years ago, they had pasta, but one day it just disappeared...

I like the fact that they have some "specials" according to the movies released that week. Sometimes also, the staff wear some costumes (pirates, heroes etc...)

We arrive at the theatre pretty early before the show begins so we are sure to get the seats we like.

The only think I hate about the Alamo is the fact that they keep selling tickets during "special events" even if the room is full. They did that for "The Omen" and "Nacho Libre". The staff would put folding chairs next the row of comfortable seats for the extra people. I don't know if they paid full price ($8) for the ticket, but I thought it was not correct from the theatre.

Despite that, we still enjoy going there...

MY REVIEW: Awesome to actually be able to enjoy a beer and watch a movie in a public place. And they had blue moon!!! The service was unexpectedly excellent and quite speedy. THe potato skins tasted pretty good. I heard the pizza and calzone is good, but the wings were nothing to brag about. they could probably use a foot rest, but the chairs are pretty comfy, especially if you go with your honey and can snuggle. yummy!! So, enjoy your movie and enjoy the eats!!!!!!peace out. oh yeah, but they charged us for the 5 dollar milkshake we never had so just double check your bill- don't get too drunk!!!

MY REVIEW: Great food, aside from the burger we had. The bucket of beer was fun (Red Stripe). Pizza great both time and the Italian Soda was one of the better ones that I have had.

However, the drive was horrible. We found M*ovie Tavern just off I-45 North somewhere near the Richey Rd Exit. Have not been there yet. But it will be a much shorter distance to travel.

MY REVIEW: The Alamo is a fun place to watch a movie with a beer and a pizza. The food is decent and the beer is cold. The prices are par with restaurants serving the same foods. The menu could use some more "health friendly" items but that is not what this place is about. What makes the Alamo win is that you kill two birds with one stone -- dinner and a movie.

I love the "no children" and "anyone under 18 has to be accompanied by an adult" policies. This really cuts down the noise clatter and constant moving around, cell phone rings and rude chatter during the movie. It is a perfect place for adults to enjoy a night out.

The one big negative so you can brace yourself is the appearance of the help. Maybe it is cool to be served by nasty looking hippies wearing dirty jeans, body pierces and covered in tatoos in Austin, but it is a little revolting to me. Yes, it is judgmental but I really like to be served by clean people.

MY REVIEW: I'm a regular at Alamo Drafthouse and I can't wait until they open their new location on Mason Rd.

The Good: I love the fact they do card people so there are no hoardes of pre-teenies chatting it up during the movie. The food is good considering it's more pizzas, burgers, and assorted "Bar foods." Their selection of alcoholic beverages is large enough to keep all sorts - light, dark, wheat, ale - happy. The waitstaff is very good about being quiet and staying low to the ground during the movie, they're hardly noticable most of the time.

The Bad: The food isn't cheap. Plan on spending at least $10 per person if you want a meal during your movie. I did have one miserable experience with a waiter, who only had our table in the entire theatre. He showed up three times; once, about 40 minutes into the movie to grab our orders, once at last call, and once to bring us our check. In the meantime, someone else brought us our food, while the rest of the seats around us were getting continuous service thoroughout the movie. I don't know if this was a mistake on his manager's part or if he was just new, but it was almost bad enough to have made it my last trip.

Lately, Alamo seems to be pushing back their last call. It used to be about 45 minutes before the movie was over. Now, it seems they deem last call to be one hour into the movie, no matter how long it is. It's ok if they movie is short, but during 'The Island,' they were having last call with an hour and a half to go.

MY REVIEW: I have been to the Alamo several times and think I see some fantastic and unfortunate things taking place.

First, the good stuff. The food is consistantly good. It is alot better than you would expect from a theater. The selection is awesome! The beer and wine selection is better then almost any restaurant in town. I really enjoy watching my movie without the distraction of teens and todlers. Everything is reasonably priced. The set up is as good as any one could make. Their movie selection is really good.

Now the bad. The service is horrible. You will either get 8 different people helping you or one person once. Expect your food to take 45-1 hour to get there. Expect to get at least one item wrong or to never get it. last time we went it was 2 people and we got there 20 minutes before the movie. Out of 2 appetizers, 2 dinners and 4 drinks we got 1 appetizer( the other never came), one meal we ordered and 1 we did not and only 2 drinks. It seemed that no one knew what they were doing. If you are a real film buff, the projection and sound quality range from good to horrible depending on wich theater you are in. My last complaint may seem weird considering it is a theater, but they also serve food. The place is often filthy.

All in all I will go there when it is slow or when I need to cut time off of dinner and a movie. If you know all this going in, it isn't really that bad

MY REVIEW: The concept is great! However, the execution needs some work.

The prices are high, and I understand that movie food is always expensive, but for the price, the food quality was extremely low--I have made better. It was on par with fast food but cost a whole lot more. I will tell you right now, do not order the chicken club, the chocolate cake, or the fried pickles. All absolutely not recommended. The queso was good, but the chips were stale. Could've been a fluke but I don't know. My companion also declared the burger to be very poor. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but we were pretty unsatisfied.

The wait staff got my order wrong twice. I wrote it all clearly, but somehow they still didn't get it right either time. I felt odd writing them a complaining note so I ate it and dealt with it. I'm aware I could've complained, but I wanted neither to miss the movie, nor to distract those around me further. The wait staff also was a bit of a distraction during the movie--similar to how the wait staff at comedy clubs can be a bit of a distraction.

This is just a personal note, but I have discovered I dislike dining in the dark. I can't see my food, I can't talk to the waiter/get their attention very easily, and it's hard to see the total and sign the credit card slip as well as determine a tip. I definitely won't be going back to Alamo for the dining again.

I may return when I want to see kids' movies after 7ish so that no children under 6 will be there. I do like that policy. Now that I know I don't like the food, I'll order drinks/snacks only if I return.

I will say their draft rootbeer was great, and the wine spritzer was pretty good too.

It's something I'm glad I tried, but probably won't go to again for a long time and only for a special event.

MY REVIEW: While everybody was shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving, I took my family on our first visit to the Alamo Drafthouse. It won't be our last. The concept is a great idea, you kill two birds with one stone and it was a fun way to combine eating and movie-going.

Good Stuff - The food is pretty darn good. I had a burger which was pretty impressive. Not the best in town, but a lot better than I was expecting. The rest of the family had the ribs (giant portion), a salad of some sort and a pasta dish. They all were pleased with their meals. Oh, yeah, and the beer was nice and cold. Service was very friendly, but one snag that was frustrating, which leads to the...

Not So Good Stuff - Our original server was fun and attentive, but when the order came out only half of it arrived, in the arms of a stranger. I'm guessing that the food orders come out all at once because everybody orders in groups based on their movie time. The server who brought it just dumped it and ran and we did not get a chance to ask about the other half of our food. It took forever for the original server to come around (guess he was delivering orders elsewhere) and notice that we were missing half of our food. It was obvious somebody else got our food and the order had to be re-done. That only compounded the delay. By the time the rest of it showed up the movie was on, but it meant that half of us ate while the other half looked on. They need to work on that.

The only other not-so-good is the pre-movie entertainment. When Elvis was alive I did not care for him, now I love some of the good music he did (there is some) but, the thirty minute long Elvis music video was too much. I did not recognize anything he sang and looking at the young & thin Elvis lost it's novelty value after two songs. The cartoon that followed was the most obnoxious thing I have ever seen (or heard, the noise that accompanied it was grating). Fix the pre-show entertainment Alamo!

Verdict - Not too shabby. I like the idea, the food was darn good, it was priced within reason and it was fun. We will try it again and if my opinion changes drastically, I will do an updated review.

MY REVIEW: INCREDIBLE dining and movie experience. The Alamo Burger is now my burger of choice and my wife says the Asian Beef Salad was "to die for." I doubt it but it must have been good. I'll be watching Spiderman kick some A' with a Bud draft on my table. See you next week and thank you for bringing the Alamo to Houston.

MY REVIEW: If you have not tried this movie theater/restaurant concept, you have missed it. No teenagers on cell phones or hanging around the front doors. No children running up and down the isles and no crying babies during the love scenes or punchlines. This is the way to enjoy a real date for dinner and a movie in half the time.

The food is great, the servers are stealthy and helpful, and the movies are first run and exhibited first class. We saw Tom Hanks in "Terminal" last night while having a bottle of Kendall-Jackson with our pizza and Philly cheese steak. Why would any adult go to Tinseltown or AMC with the teenagers again?

One word of warning. Get there early on the weekends to assure good seats and expect the service to be a little slower than traditional restaurants. All the shows sell out on the weekends so 700-800 people are served every two hours. Chill out with and extra beer or appetizer. You aren't going anywhere until the show is over anyway and you will never want to see a movie any other way after your first visit. Thank you, Alamo.

MY REVIEW: I can't stop going to this place. At least once a month several friends and I get together for a 'girls night'. Sometimes it's sitting at home watching movies and sipping wine, other times it's going dancing, but I got the best reviews when I suggested we have girls night at the Alamo Drafthouse (to see Alex & Emma). No one had ever heard of it; now they can't stop talking about it.

Fabulous food, good (newly released)movies and a superb waitstaff. I really think the ambiance would be better achieved with better seats and a larger screen, but hey, you can't have it all! Even without those things I'm still being hounded about when our next girls' night at the A.D.H. Theater will be.

I give it 3 thumbs up and an A-OK with a mouth full of Chicken Alfredo Pizza!

Loved It!

MY REVIEW: Couldn't be a better venue for adults who just want dinner & a movie. The seating is comfortable, the food is pretty good, and at $7 admission plus the price of your meal & drinks, it costs the same as dinner & a movie the conventional way. If you want to take you kids to a movie then you take them to tinsel town, but if you want a relaxing evening with your wife, or girlfriend or just with a few buds, then you go to the Alamo Draft house. 5 Stars.

MY REVIEW: Just like everyone else has said this place is great. A friend of mine showed it to me and I have in turn showed other friends. They food is excellent, it's great to be able to eat and drink whatever you want during a movie, prices are very reasonable, staff is fast and polite and I can't honestly imagine going to a conventional theater again after finding this. Plus it's only a mile from my house. Great experience. Eat, drink, watch a movie and be merry!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I went on a Monday. It was great! The special was a ticket for only four dollars, the food was good and reasonably priced and it was really nice to relax with good food and a beer and watcha movie. It was like being at home, but being waited on. We will go back!

MY REVIEW: My friends and I have always been extremely happy with our visits to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, whether it be on a Friday or a Wednesday. It is a wonderful thing to be able to eat great food while sitting in comfortable seats and watching a movie (which cost next to nothing to see.)

I have heard people complain about the supposed slowness of the staff and I would like to invite those complainers to try and do better. The people who work at the cinema have always been fabulous and once again, HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING SERVED DRINKS AND DINNER WHILE WATCHING A MOVIE?

We love it and will definately be back!

Also, thank you to whoever invented the "Weird Wednesdays". We appreciate the price and enjoy viewing the sometimes off-the-wall-movies.

MY REVIEW: I've been to The Alamo 3 weekends in a row and have had 2 wonderful experiences and one less than great. My first two, for "The Itaian Job" and for "The Hulk", were incredible. My wife had wine and I had beer with the best pizza I have ever eaten. The second trip we shared pitchers of beer with friends and had grilled chicken salad and a blue cheese hamburger to kill for. Everything was on time and service was friendly and great. I was there with the person below this weekend for "Charlie's Angel's" and there were problems with late food and out-of-order orders. My food came before my appetizer and I would have asked for dessert if my server had come by one more time. However my open-faced meatball sandwich was delicious and my wife's vegan pizza was perfect.

As a retired restaurant owner I can say without fear of contradiction that NO restaurant slammed with that large of crowd could have possible serviced everyone flawlessly. The word is out on these guys so we will be there early for "Terminator 3" this weekend. I'LL BE BACK!

MY REVIEW: My wife and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse on a Saturday night. The place was packed but fortunately I followed a friend's suggestion and bought the movie tickets in advance on the Internet. Obviously, this is not your typical restaurant, nor your typical movie theatre. While the seats are comfortable, we sat in the middle rows which require your head to be at a 75 degree angle in order to watch the screen, so I recommend to seat in the back rows (plan on getting there very early Fridays and Saturdays). Do not expect your standard restaurant table with white tablecloth. The tables at the Alamo are skinny rows of wood tables, but they do the job. There is quite a large space between the seats and the tables which require you to lean forward a lot in order to eat. The staff is friendly but the night we were there they seemed to be having some operational issues. My advice is not to go to the Alamo really hungry if you are planning to eat there. Our food took over an hour to arrive. Also, don't expect to get your drinks and food in the standard order. The guy sitting next to us got his hamburger and fries 15 minutes into the movie, so we had to watch him eat what seemed to be a great hamburger, until our food came 50 minutes later. However, he had ordered a pitcher of beer which never arrived (well it did, but too late). He kept complaining to the staff and they kept on saying one more minute or telling him their bar was backed up with orders. Finally they came back, after he was done with his food, and offered him some water. The pitcher of beer followed after that but the guy had already finished his food. Our drinks came first, however I had ordered a spinach salad as an entree and my wife ordered the Margherita pizza. The pizza made it first, and it took a while longer for the spinach salad to arrive. When we were still waiting for the food, we were told that it was the "last call" for drinks and food. I was almost done with my wine but I didn't order another one because I was afraid it was going to arrive after I was done with my meal. The food was very good and surprisingly affordable. The staff does a good job of waiting on customers while the movie is playing. The Alamo Drafthouse gets an A+ for the concept and for trying, but they get a C for overall operations. Don't get me wrong, logistically this concept is not easy and requires a lot of staff during busy days; however, they need to improve their operational efficiency in order to provide a more enjoyable experience for their customers. I am sure things are better during weekdays, but I haven't been to a movie theatre during the week in years.

MY REVIEW: I agree with everyone else. This place is great! The food was good, very reasonably priced as well. The staff is friendly and prompt. I will not go to the movies anywhere else! No screaming kids, noisy teens, just people who want to see a good movie and have a good meal at the same time.

MY REVIEW: WOW! We didn't want to leave! The waitstaff really takes care of you. If you're looking to watch a new flick and get a great meal at the same time at a great price - this is your place. The waitstaff is extremely friendly - extensive menu - clean establishment. The only weak point is the drive. For us Southwest area and West Houston folks, distance isn't too bad. We're hoping they branch out to the downtown market. Go out there & support them! You won't be dissapointed.

MY REVIEW: This theatre is great. The blue Hawaiian pizza is outstanding, and it's so nice to have choices besides the traditional popcorn, pop, and candy and not have to stand in line. The Chinese chicken salad is pretty good also, but has a bit much lettuce. It's nice to be waited on and not miss any of the movie, too. It does seem that one has to wait a bit long for change, and the first time I went, after nearly 15 minutes and the movie about over, I had to leave the auditorium during the movie to ask for my change. Since there's so much room, people can leave the auditorium and not pass so close in front. The tables are just the right size for food and drinks. We also appreciate no crying babies. It is really enjoyable to come here.

MY REVIEW: This place is something else.. What has taken Houston so long to come up with something like this? Going to the movies used to be the biggest pain in the rear, having to fight through the mob at Wal-mart to get cheap candy and snacks to sneak in because I didn't want to pay the ridiculous costs of candy and popcorn at the concession stand.. Well, no more. I have found a great place at the Alamo, located at West Oaks Mall. A movie theater with a full service kitchen and serves alcohol and no kids under 18 without their parents? You're kidding right? No crying babies? Oh my god, I've just died and gone to heaven!

The food is great, from pizzas to chicken tenders, burgers to potato skins. Affordable, many, many choices of beer and wine, domestic and import. This place is the perfect date place, everything in one! The waitstaff is friendly and very accomodating. Good movies, good food, good people, what more can you ask for?

Hell, even their popcorn is good!
