MY REVIEW: I am bewildered at some of the lackluster and negative reviews of La Brisa. My wife and I eat here faily often, and love it. The hot sauce is always fresh, and the tortilla chips are always warm. In the Spring and Summer, there is usually a live band out on the patio on Weds. and Sunday evenings. Some of our favorite dishes are the Carne Tampiqueno (hot beef fajitats cooked with onions, bell peppers, and white cheese), the Ixtapa (chicken and beef fajitas, with a stuffed cheese avocado), the Taco salad (served with your choice of meat, in a fresh tortilla taco bowl), and the many varieties of seafood plates on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, and the service is very good. PS: We agree with some of the commenters; the Bacliff location is better than the newer location in League City along I-45.

MY REVIEW: Our first and definitely last visit. We were with a group of 16 and arrived early to get on their list since they do not accept reservations. We waited an hour and saw several other groups seated before we asked for the manager. He assured us we would be seated as soon as possible which was slightly more than 45 minutes later. The service was fair and the food was good and reasonably priced. However, neither made up for the wait or for the 18% gratuity added to our bill.

MY REVIEW: Cheap, and lots a food. Can you find higher quality, yes. Can you find a better value, no. They bring red and green sauce( both good). They have bands, large servings, and cheap specials. They have gone up (2 dollar vs 3 dollar margaritas), specials that were 9.99, are now 12.99. But my wife and I can go and fill up, and drink, and still walk out for around 30 bucks. Almost everywhere else is at least $40, maybe more. Give the owners a break, this is a great value on decent TexMex.

MY REVIEW: Save your money... and drive by this place. We have eaten there on several occasions, trying different items on the menu. We recently had to send back the chicken fajitas. The meat was white, with absolutely no browning on it. It appeared to have been boiled. It was returned to us, it had been browned, but had the texture of processed chicken strips. On several occasions, our drink orders were messed up. I agree with the previous commenter - the staff appears to be in a state of chaos (& confusion). Overall, it is not a good value: Prices are a bit high for what you get (in the rare event that the meal is cooked properly and they get your order right).

MY REVIEW: I drive by this place 2 or 3 times a week and didn't think I'd like it, but after reading these reviews and having a couple of acquaintances tell me how great it is I decided to go and personally experience the awesomeness only to find out my apprehensions were correct in the first place. On the plus side the chips were exceptional and the salsa served were both pretty good. The tea and sodas were served in giant glasses so we didn't need to be constantly flagging down a waitperson for refills. My wife ordered a chicken salad and raved about it. The waitstaff was attentive enough though so many different people came by it was difficult to know who was "our" waitress.

On the downside: It was so dark at out booth I could barely read the menu and the door to the outside directly adjacent to our table was used frequently by the staff and let a huge burst of hot air in every time it suddenly flew open to revael a busboy or wiater arriving for work apron in hand> .I ordered carnitas, one of my favorite mexican dishes. Carnitas are normally served as "hunks of pork, fried in their own fat and very tender. what I recieved on my plate were little slabs of fat with bits of tough chewy, flavorless pork smothered in mostly undercooked onion slivers on a plate where the promised guacamole was a teeny tiny little teaspoon full buried under a wilted lettuce leaf. The beans had a nice texture but very little seasoning and the rice looked real pretty but was utterly flavorless. Then the band started playing outside. they were decent enough and not deafeningly loud, but the music in the restaurant interior stayed on. It made for a sort of audio blend that had me almost queasy with the weird incongruity of sounds reaching my ears simultaneously.

This place has so many problems that I won't give it a second chance unless I am starving and no place else is open. you can just call "one and done"

MY REVIEW: Basically, my wife and I believe that this is not the worst Mexican we have ever ate. But then again, it wasnt the best either. Of all the places you can go in the area we rate this one about a C-minus. G*ringos, P*apasitos or Cafe A*dobe are better than this place. Our wiater was not friendly and the food was edible.

The Spinach enchaladas are very good - but only slightly less tasty is Cafe A*dobe

The beef and chicken fajitas were awful. No taste and dry as all get out.

The ground meat in the tacos and burritos is too sweet and not very tasty.

The inside is noisy (very noisy) and bascially an open room. Not much as far as decoration. The waitstaff and hostesses seemed to be in a constant state of chaos.

All in all, go somewhere else.

MY REVIEW: Well, I guess I'll start with the food . . . when it's brought to the table hot, it's really good. I've been twice with just 2 to 3 people, and have had a good meal: big portions, hot, and decent prices. However, if you happen to need the "big room" for more than 8 people but less than 15, be warned that the room is quite claustrophobic. When looking at the picture on-line, you would think the room would be the same one you're reserving, but it's not! Also, you only have 1 waitperson, and they also have other tables, so they are practically non-existant. I can't count the times one of us had to get up and go look for our waiter. Needless to say, most our dishes came lukewarm to cold. Yes, we had 15 people, but they should be able to accommodate that many since the room specifically was reserved for it. AND, it was a minimum of $200, which we went WELL over, but feel a MANDATORY minimum was not (and is not) necessary, especially if we're getting the "service" and food we got this visit. Over all, will not be bringing a large group anymore, but may go back as a couple.

MY REVIEW: Four months ago I paid my 1st visit to the newest La Brisa on N. Wesley near the Gulf Frwy, and now I'm trying the original on Hwy. 146 in Bacliff for the 1st time. I ordered the SAME combination platter, the EL PATRON, at BOTH locations. I chose it because it offers a good variety of Tex Mex favorites. The Bacliff store wins my comparison test---still lacking that WOW! factor, but quite a bit better. The El Patron dinner features: beef enchilada (more flavor than N. Wesley); tamale (just ok but at least it wasn't mushy); refried beans (still not good, but not burnt this time); beef chalupa (better this time because beans weren't burnt); and at both places the taco, rice and guacamole were good. Actually their rice is some of the best in these parts. I asked for chopped onions and this time the Bacliff location served them on the side, a good idea.

Overall, the Tex Mex at Bacliff was not bad, just not as good as some area competition. But the menu is impressive and warrants more visits to try a large selection of seafood such as Yucatan Fish Tacos, Snapper Veracruz, Flounder San Miguel, Shrimp Huatulco and more. La Brisa in Bacliff may be one of those Mexican restaurants where the seafood specialty dinners outshine the Tex Mex.

By the way, judging from the full parking lot I keep seeing at happy hour, the covered front porch (with its own bar) must be a lively place to be. The hostess told me they have live music Wed. Thur. and Sunday. While I think I'll leave that action to the younger set, I do plan to try that seafood.

MY REVIEW: My family and I have been going to La Brisa for about 10 yrs. Since it was a place just to cash checks.

I love the Grand Gold Margaritas’ and still do. The food is excellent and the manager and waiters have been great. Now the but: My last visit the food was still good (fajitas) but the there was no jalapeños and very, very little guacamole. When my wife ask about bell peppers, she thought was on the menu the waiter sent someone from the kitchen with a menu to show her she was wrong.. The management at Bacliff La Brisa has always be the best! Maybe it was the managers night off, even if it was the staff should be trained to respect their diners. It appears that the Bacliff La Brisa is going down hill since the new La Brisa opened. I have visited both but I preferred the Bacliff La Brisa. I hope this was just a one time bad experience and not a new direction for Bacliff La Brisa . Stay tuned I will give it another chance.

MY REVIEW: I enjoy breakfast at the original location in Bacliff. The breakfast buffet at the new League City location is $10.99, and is well worth it, with the following nitpicks. NONE of the buffet items are labeled (I noticed people scrutinizing the barbacoa and carne guisada, not familiar with them). I nearly dumped a spoonful of "salsa" on my potatoes before relizing that it was strawberry puree. The only egg dishes available were cooked-to-order omlettes: why no tubs of prepared huevos rancheros? But my numero uno complaint concerns beverages. The buffet includes self-serve coffee, milk, fruit juices and horchata, BUT ICED TEA IS EXTRA ($2.39). I expect this in the Midwest, but in Texas? ( This is like providing free Coca-Cola but charging for Dr. Pepper). Plus, they bring it with lemon, despite my asking lemon to be omitted. At least is was not sweet tea.

MY REVIEW: GO FOR THE BREAKFAST BUFFET. Seriously it is beyond words. The omelet guy is awesome. But, you can't beat I shouldn't even post this due to its crazy with people as is. But its great. Lunch and dinner just as good. Stuff enchiladas are crazy good Chips and salsa to die for. And all food is good.

MY REVIEW: When I visit any Mexican restaurant for the first time, I order a combination platter so I can sample several items. The El Patron (not sure but think that is the name) seemed the way to go because it offered a good variety of Tex Mex favorites. Wish I could say the food was tasty---I wanted to like this place, but just cannot recommend. Certainly nothing had that WOW! factor. Beef enchilada was tasteless as was the mushy tamale. I requested they be topped with chopped onions, but there were so many onions that you couldn't tell what was under them. Refried beans had a slight burnt taste---otherwise they would have NO taste at all. The beef chalupa would've been good but for those awful refried beans. Taco was pretty darn good. Ditto for the rice and guac.

Green sauce was smooth, like I like it, but had too much sour cream taste. Red sauce had a good deep flavor, but could've used some more kick.

Get some people in that kitchen who speak Tex Mex, and this place could take off. One of the better-looking Mexican restaurants, it's located near I-45 midway between 2 not-so-great Mexican competitors (E*steban's and M*arina's). The inside is huge with at least 3 distinct dining areas. Nice finished concrete floors and interesting trac lighting. Nice greeters and servers Even a gift shop, it's got some things going for it. Make the food better and watch out!

MY REVIEW: I just recently visited La Brisa's new location with some friends.. Their new place is HUGE! Perfect for family and friend gatherings and other parties. Oh and the palapa bar is incredible..Cant complain about the happy hour $2 ritas and the signature queso is amazing! It has shrimp brochete, diced beef fajita meat and pork. You've gotta try the stuffed chicken too. Its stuffed with spinach and topped with grilled shrimp and white cheese!

I got to take a full tour of the resteraunt with the help of a nice lady at the front. She was very enthusiastic about showing me the building, which was good (and contagious). I even got to see the huge kitchen! Their homemade tortillas are the best around! Still could use a bit more decor, but overall a very good place.

MY REVIEW: I thought that Marvin was going to run the place not a bunch of teenagers. What a disappointment of a resturant! To the owners if you want the place to run like the other one which I loved, "LET THE MAN DO HIS JOB"! You can tell that Marvin is not behind the new one.Who is it?Please do somthing about it b/c it is not the same and my whole family loves La Brisa...We have been like 3 times and they all have been bad...when someone charges you $3 for extra cheese or you order fajitas tacos on flour tortilla and menu tells you they come with flour tortilla, then you get them in corn torilla, then you tell waiter and she says it will be extra for flour tortilla something, is really wrong! I hope yall do something about it b/c we will not come back...We will try-it one more time...Hopefully we can the see the manager....

MY REVIEW: Food was great as was the chips and salsa (the stuffed avocado and shrimp brochette are better than anywere). Margaritas were good as well. Service was good and the one man show band was great. Only complaints....no sign or deco like the one in Kemah. Needs some ambiance, colored palm trees, a colorful sign and some decorations. The garage style doors were closed, keeping the a/c in and the mosquitos out, but also leaving out the outdoor feel. Beyond that, just as good as the Kemah location, and I expect will soon make the adjustments needed to create the same fun filled atmosphere!
