MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to Sushi Rock restaurant and probably the last one. It is Japanese restaurant but I have not seen a Japanese cook there. The sushi selection looked great on the photo, but was disappointed with the flavor. The service was slow. Be aware of charges. We did order several selections from the menu and on some prices on the bill were different than on menu. For instance, the 10 pieces sashimi with two rolls was 17 on the menu but I was charged 17.95. Not impressed with this restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Sushi Rock is quite good. We like a lot of their rolls, specials, and go there quite often as a family to eat. The staff is quite nice, and service is as good as expected. Try their shaggy dog or playboy rolls!

MY REVIEW: I hadn't been here since I moved out of the area in February, 2008 and things certainly have changed in such a short while! The family that has been running this location since it opened are now working on a new location in Kingwood. There is a new family at this former P*izza Hut and I am sad to say have a different vibe. The food was still good, but if you don't get the friendly service with it and at least a smile when you walk in the door, it's not worth the drive out there from where we live now. Maybe they are still green and will have the process down as time goes on, but apparently, I'm not the only one that doesn't like the switch. We were the only ones in the restaurant from the time we walked in (9pm) to the time we left (10:30pm). We thought they were closed despite the "OPEN" sign being on. Usually on a Saturday night the place is packed! Hope these people get there act together or they will suffer the same fate as the Sugar Land location.

MY REVIEW: Great service. Pretty waitresses. The sushi (I had the Sushi Rock Special) was tasty and very fresh as always. The owner, Henry, came to our table and made pleasant conversation with us. He asked the standard questions such as "How is the food?" as always it was a nice visit. This place is a converted P*izza Hut but somehow they pulled it off and it works. You got to try this place.

MY REVIEW: I was impressed by the service, which I found to be prompt and attentive. The sushi (I had hamachi, salmon and mackerel) was fresh and flavorful, with good prices and very reasonable portions. The miso soup was fine, but not great. In watching other customers, I discovered that the restaurant is like C*hapultepec in that the patron is expected to go to the register to pay. Overall, I was quite satisfied on my first visit. (I came around 9 p.m. on a Thursday; around 8 other customers)

MY REVIEW: We consistently enjoy this restaurant. We often get take-out sushi on the way home from work (about once a week). Anything with soft-shell crab is great - they have the biggest, crispiest soft -shell crab in the city. We especially like the Skydiver roll and the Spider handroll. The gyoza are also good. I only had Pad-tai once, and it was disappointing, so I stick with the sushi. The tuna tekka is also very good, as is the kani-su (crab legs rolled in cucumber) I enjoyed these especially when I was eating low-carb. The green tea is too full of leaves for me, but the wine list and the beer are good.

MY REVIEW: Came here 1 night with a friend and we both agree that it was one of the worst sushi we have ever eaten and I eat sushi a lot. I use to eat sushi at least once a week at various sushi places whever I go and this was not at all impressive. Not at all tasty. Interior decorations included christmad lights, and I believe those lights don't come down even after christmans. Cheap. Service was horrible too. We requested for the bill and sat for 20 min. Finally I had to chase after a busboy who said he'd find the waitress. I gave up after waitng another 10 min and while walking halfway out the door, the waitress ran after us and said have a "good night" not recalling that we hadn't paid.Considering there were only 3 other couplse there, I can't understand how they could not know. We turned back around and told them that we needed to pay. they looked shocked but glad we decided to be honest. We not laugh and joke about it everytime we drive by the place. It was such a bad experience, I'd never return.

MY REVIEW: This was my first time here and I'll definately be going back. I went there for lunch and it wasn't packed at all, but I like that because the staff gives you more attention and it's a quiet and quaint atmosphere. The decor is mediocre, clean, and the location isn't the best because it's kinda hard to spot since it's in a shopping strip that doesnt' have any profound presence. It's just one of those hidden treasures in Sugarland that hopefully more people will catch on to. The staff was very friendly and they came around a few times to ask us how everything was. I tried the Shaggy Dogg Roll and Tempura Ice Cream for the first time and I just wanted to straight up die because it was so mouthwatering. The roll was freshly made and you could tell that because the tempura shrimp was still warm when they served it to us. The tempura ice cream was delicious. You can just taste the vanilla in the Japanese ice cream and the tempura batter. The prices are really good too considering the foods' outstanding quality. Everyone should try this place out if you get the chance, it's great!

MY REVIEW: Sushi rock is the best sushi joint in Sugar Land. I just moved here from California and I was worried that we would not find good sushi. The staff is very polite. They could be a bit more outgoing. Chef Henry does a good job. I recommend the Toro sushi when available or the volcano roll. when you are just about finished make your last roll the Kanisu roll. Very cool and refreshing a good way to end your dinner.

MY REVIEW: A bit dumpy outside but nice enough inside. Fast service. I had some kind of roll which had crab inside then salmon on the outside. It was great. Then I also had a couple pieces of salmon sushi. They weren't as big as I get at K*ubo's but they were a good size. We've all just gotten so used to oversized portions in this country that "regular" sized is too small. Overall I liked the place and will go back. They had a large variety of sushi on the menu and I can't wait to try something else..

MY REVIEW: The sushi is really good. The crab they use is not just a tiny sliver of crab meat but nice and thick. Quality of sushi is right up there with my favorites.

The downside is the service. It's universally bad and they never come back. Plus, if you have some slightly off menu request or change to exactly what is listed on the menu forget about it.

Anything but sushi, like the thai soup, etc, is not good. I've eaten 3 or 4 dishes that weren't sushi and it just wasn't that great. Not bad mind you, just not good.

MY REVIEW: We really love this place and is the best (and best value) of Sushi in Sugar Land that we have found. The service is O.K. and GREAT if you sit at the Sushi Bar

MY REVIEW: I work close to this restaurant and love japanese and thai food so I really was hoping this would be a winner. Unfortunately the thai food is awful-their basil dishes are just a soupy heap of green peppers and tough meat-they do not know how to stir fry. The thai soup was inedible. The waitstaff has never come back to ask, "how is everything?" after the "food" is served. The japanese food is average at best.

MY REVIEW: The freshest and best service in Houston. The one in Sugarland is the newer of the two and the better one to goto if you don't live too far. Sushi has yet to get caught on in Houston, so the restaurant is never crowded. Not too many choices for happy hour. I'm an eel addict so I usually only eat it but have found the Rainbow and Playboy Roll to be excellent also.
