MY REVIEW: I saw the review about the fried chicken and having just had some killer pollo frito at a taqueria in Baytown, I was eager to find some closer to home. I tried the Baleadas Sincilla, frijoles fritos, queso and crema in a hand-made flour tortilla - a satisfying appetizer. The Pollo Frito consisted of a leg and thigh piece served on a generous bed of banana chips with shredded red and green cabbage and a warm Russian type dressing. Unfortunately the chicken had been sitting under a heat lamp and was very dried out. The banana chips were excellent and overall, except for the dry chicken, the meal was very good.

I thought the Bandeja Catracha and Sopa de Caracol, a Honduran specialty, looked interesting, but I experienced the problem other reviewers have noted of the loud jukebox; it seemed to get louder with each selection and then muted considerably, so I'd guess it's pre-programmed. My advice is to locate the jukebox when you go in and look for a table as far away as possible.

The staff didn't flirt with me at all, in fact wasn't very friendly at all. I may go back or to another location to try more but I've found another Honduran restaurant where you don't have to deal with the deafening jukebox, so I may just stick to that.

MY REVIEW: If you want to taste authentic honduran food, this is the place. Real hondurans cook real honduran dishes. The baleadas could be better, but they're still pretty good. The Salpicon is my favorite, great flavor. A lot of people complain about the music, I understand, the thing is that even the loud music is a very authentic honduran custom. In my opinion management should find a good volume balance that satisfies both honduran an non-honduran customers, not too loud/not too quiet. Someone suggested to keep it low during lunch and turn it up during dinner, great point. All locations are pretty much the same, though my favorite one is 45 North.

Buen provecho! Enjoy.

MY REVIEW: I love this place. My boyfriend is from honduras and I go with him there or I go alone sometimes. Everybody here knows us very well, and yeah the waitress may seem to flirt, but I think they are just friendly. I love the food. I love the baleadas, the boquitas oh and the other day I tried the sopa de modongo. That was awesome. I will keep going. They treat me like a queen there!

MY REVIEW: I have visited with my husband who is from Honduras. He wanted me to try the authentic food. I tried the steak skewers and they are really good. I don't mind the music but I can understand if it bothers others. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was that the waitresses were flirting with my husband. Maybe it's because he's from their country, I don't know. I would eat here againg but they need to show some respect.

MY REVIEW: First of many visits to this restaurant, it was an excellent find. Stopped in for breakfast, staff was friendly; service was prompt, food excellent, timely and hot. Breakfast consisted of a pork chop, avocado, fried ripe plantains, refried beans dusted with hard cheese, Honduran cream, handmade corn tortillas, sunny side up eggs made to perfection, Great flavors, excellent coffee.

MY REVIEW: My family decided to try this restaurant because we like to try new things. The waitress was very nice, but when we complained about the loud music she asked her manager if something could be done. After a few minutes, the waitress came back and said that she couldn't do anything about it. This place loose us as customers, thank God we didn't order. We will just try another restaurant that will commit to their customers. I will never recommend this one.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit to this cozy, clean restaurant. We took our nanny who is from Honduras for this special treat. She thought the food was very authentic. I had the pescada frita which is a fried fish (this is a pretty good portion, some make sure you're hungry. It was well seasoned and not too greasy. Beware of the bones if you order this. My husband tried the beef steak which was served on skewers. Our nanny had the mixed plate which had a taco and an enchilada. We all enjoyed our food - our only complaint - the music was too loud. This would not keep us from going back.

MY REVIEW: I visit Las Hamacas at least twice a week. This is the real deal, authentic from its decor to the music. Everyone there seems to enjoy the unique honduran atmosphere, you can always count to find friendly and smiling faces at all times. It's fun to watch the waiters grooooving to our famous PUNTA rithms while serving the delicious honduran food. Enjoy a SOPA DE CARACOL, CARNE ASADA, ARROZ CON POLLO, and much more! Just remember Restaurante Las Hamacas es Honduras mas cerca de ti!
