Mencius Gourmet Hunan

MY REVIEW: Hadn't been to Mencius in years after I changed jobs, but in-laws live in Kingwood, so DH & I decided to try it again. It was excellent, as usual. I ordered the Mencius Chicken and he ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The servings were large and the food was hot and spicy. The waiter was a bit unorganized, but nice. I really enjoyed the hot & sour soup. If you are in the Kingwood area and up for almost gourmet Chinese food, give it a try!

MY REVIEW: I have been coming to this place off and on since 1989. It has never failed to be a great experience. I have recently introduced my husband to the place and it has become his favorite food stop in the Kingwood area. The wonton soup is complex and savory; I think it is my favorite wonton soup in Houton. The Mencius beef is crispy with a sweet/savory/spicy/salty orange peel sauce. It is my all time favorite. Try the chicken with pine seeds. It is an old fave of mine, although I think I preferred the ground chicken version to the recent incarnation with minced chicken. The service here is always friendly and the managment understands that music is for background ambiance. For delicious Chinese food in a great place, go to Mencius

MY REVIEW: I have come to Mencius a few times but my latest was for New Years Eve and was a BLAST it was! the food and drink (they have a full bar and the BEST patron margaritas in all of houston!!!) was incredible as usual and boy do these people know how to party! they featured a live band which was a nice touch for this area and we will definitely be making it a tradition to celebrate NYE there! We'll definitely be back to eat from now on. For anyone new to the area, I would definitely recommend the Thai Spicy chicken!

MY REVIEW: My family and I are new to Kingwood and have gone to Mencius more than any other restaurant in town. The food is incredible!!!! Our favorties: the sweet & sour chicken and the chicken w/cashews ~ YUM!!!!! The restaurant is clean and the staff is extremely nice and the fact that they also deliver is why we LOVE them!!!!

MY REVIEW: I have eaten at this restaurant since I was a child... it is the most delicious Chinese food in Kingwood! Their prices are affordable, especially their lunch menus which feature an entre with fried rice, an eggroll and a soup. I particularly enjoy their sweet and spicy Mencius beef as well as the Triple delight and the 4 Delights of Kun Pao (seafood, chicken and beef in a spicy peanut sauce). The owners are delightful people! The only thing I dislike is that the restaurant seems too small to have a smoking section, however, they do have a full bar and cater to the after-work drinking crowd. This is usually not a problem during they day but at night I prefer to have the food delivered, another great service this restaurant provides. Enjoy!
