MY REVIEW: I work in the area and have been coming here since they openned. Their service is ALWAYS good and the staff is ALWAYS kind. I can't help but think that the people who complain about the staff and service are just a little problematic on their own. I have never had a single problem with Jungle Cafe.

You have to pay in advance when you order cake, which is not a problem. They only accept credit card for purchases over $20. Once, I ordered a cake and told them I would be there at 12pm to pick it up. I got there a little early, around 11:45pm, and they told me it was not ready. I waited in the store, while sipping on an amazing mango smoothie. At exactly 12pm, they called my name and my cake was ready. You can't beat service like this! I recommend to everyone. This place is amazing. I am going there after work today for some more cake. =)

MY REVIEW: I buy a birthday cake from them again last week.

Their ingredients are better than before, however the food costs and fuel still go up. i am happy they can focus on quality, not profit.

Their service is also good and sweet as usual, I saw a custom was attitude, but their staff can keep nice to custom and explain.

MY REVIEW: I've known this patisserie since it first opened, because I used to work in the area. The first couple of years, the service was decent and prices a bit high but reasonable. However, over the years the service has gotten worse and worse, cakes smaller and smaller, and the prices higher and higher. I had similar experience as Dessert Lover (12/04) that I ordered a cake for my sister's baby shower, I specifically told them I'd be there at 2 pm to pick up. I arrived on time but the cake was not ready, and I had to wait 40 minutes. The woman behind the counter was not apologetic at all, and the owner Angela knew who I was as I was a regular, didn't even bother to greet me and was just busy chit chatting with another customer. That was all I needed to stop going there, no matter how good their cakes are, their service simply SUCKS!

MY REVIEW: Cakes are excellent. I would recommend the mousse over the cakes though. Cakes get smaller and more expensive, but gas price aint staying the same, is it?

MY REVIEW: Strong points: Beautifully designed cakes and the boxes and containers are also very elegant. The small, rectangular cakes are priced reasonably: 1 for about $10 or buy 2 for $15. I HIGHLY recommend the mango mousse cake b/c that's the baker's specialty! The manga mousse cake has a thin, tart mango puree layer on top, the 2nd layer has the light, creamy manga mousse texture, and the 3rd layer is a thin white cake. Very delicious! For something unique, try the taro cake b/c it's quite good and not too sweet.

Weak points: I don't particularly like the mocha cakes b/c the flavor tastes a little off to me (shrug). Other than that, the rest of the desserts are AWESOME!

MY REVIEW: I have always loved coming here for the excellent cakes/dessert. I ordered the wonderful black forest cake for every birthday in the family. Besides the scrumptious dessert, customer service has always been good. However, during my last few visits I felt that service provided has gone way downhill. The last straw was during my visit on a Saturday evening in December. During this particular time, I ordered a variety of cakes to give out to family members for Christmas. Payment upfront was requested which I did not have any problem with but the pickup time of Monday at noon that I requested could not be guaranteed. The lady behind the counter repeatedly informed me that she was not sure if there would be enough employees to bake the cakes and so her solution was come Monday someone from the store will call and let me know if that noon pickup time is ok or not. Mind you the store does not open till 11 am. Finally, I had to put my foot down and let her know that she is creating a problem for the customers and she is actually driving business away because of her or the store managment's disorganization. After grumbling and giving me the sour face, she finally gave in but was not happy about the whole situation.

Good luck with running the business this way!!!!!

MY REVIEW: My favorites: ANY fruit smoothies, esp the mango (they puree real fruit!); milk tea (I get it w/boba AND coffee jelly); raspberry tea; lattes (they use a really nice thick cream); ANY cake, esp the fruit cake (really light icing with a layer of fruit, I believe it's only available special ordered in advance), black forest cake, green tea mousse cake, etc. etc.!!

Strong points: drinks and cakes here are not sickly sweet which is a huge plus for me; the place is spotless; they usually have good music; you can order in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese; very efficient service; very laidback atmosphere.

Weak points: far from my home near Rice U (so we go weekends after a meal in Chinatown to make traffic less of an issue); fruit cake must be ordered maybe 1-2 days in advance if you want it for a special occasion; sometimes customers don't bus their tables before leaving so you might have to do it if you want a table during peak times; can get noisy (espresso machine, people, etc.).

MY REVIEW: Every holiday, I always come here to buy their cakes, they make the best cakes. I recommend the Hazelnut cake, it is so good, the chocolate shavings just melt in your mouth. Not to sweet either! You'll never get bored. Very delicious, their cakes are also so so pretty, people won't believe you didn't pay a ton for it.

MY REVIEW: This modern cute little coffee shop in Bellaire Chinatown touts itself as a cafe and a patisserie. They have beautiful desserts and they're delicious as well. When I went they had caramel mousse, cappucino mousse, green tea mousse, taro cake, some napoleons, and chocoberry (brownie with raspberry mousse on top) -- they all looked good. The raspberry green tea is also very good. I had a white chocolate mocha and I normally have it hot in other coffee places but they only make it cold here. That was my only complaint about this place -- no hot white chocolate mocha, but they have a lot of variety of tea and coffee too, and they seem to be good. There's japanese magazines to read there and as for sugar, it's weird -- they have liquid sugar alongside with regular sugar for your drinks. :-) This place is a good place to visit and socialize with friends if you live close to Chinatown.

MY REVIEW: This place has the most awesome cakes. If you have Boba & tea for afternoon, it's like the best day in heaven. Try their Chestnut cake, it sounds unusual, but it's very tasty. If you don't want a lot of cake, they do it by the slice, or by a roll if you're greedy. Tons of good stuff.

MY REVIEW: Great atmosphere. I love their boba with icecream its called sun float or something like that. But thier birthday cakes are diappointing. I had a mocha chocolate cake and for the price it was it was not worth it at all.

ill still come back for the boba though.
