MY REVIEW: Friday reservation for 3 at 8 pm. We were seated promptly at 9:20.
It was well worth the wait. The three of us, Argentine men, ordered a bottle of catena, three petit 8 ounce filets, and a side of Parmesan mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. The sides were very well done and delicious companions to the perfectly cooked medium rare filets. As well established carnivores, we all agreed the steaks were perfect.
For dessert, a masterpiece of a chocolate volcano.
Our server was very knowledgable and overtly enthustiastic, could be a plus if you are into pampering.
Pros: the food, wine, and desserts are amazing and well worth the prices.
Cons: over booking

MY REVIEW: Since discovering it last year, my husband and I have been to Fleming's quite a few times - both for special occasions and weeknight dinners, and it has never failed to impress us. The ambiance is elegant and understated, the service is impeccable and the food is of the highest quality and expertly prepared. On our most recent trip, we took my parents, sister and brother-in-law, and aunt and uncle who were visiting from out of town.
Every single person in our party raved about their meals. My mother proclaimed her filet mignon to be the best she's ever had, and my aunt and uncle said their visit there was the dining highpoint of the trip. I wasn't at all surprised by their reactions -- I've been to quite a few other steakhouses in Houston, and I can honestly say Fleming's is the best.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I were looking for a nice steak on a Sunday night. Our usual places being closed, we decided to try Fleming’s. The service was fine, the wine list, while extensive, is almost entirely domestic and overpriced, even for a high end steakhouse. The food...shockingly disappointing! My wife had a prime rib which looked like a beautiful cut, perfectly pink, but the texture was completely wrong and it was tasteless. My filet was likewise cooked to perfection, nice and thick, but had no flavor! I have never experienced this with a good cut of steak!
The filet I had on the Air France flight the next day on my way to Paris was 5 times better! Maybe just an off night, but with all the good steak houses in town, we surely will not return.

MY REVIEW: TERRIBLE FOOD! This is the last time we have dinner at Flemmings Steakhouse. The service is great - the food is terrible! We had a birthday party - spent $380 for 4 people and only one of us had a decent meal. We ordered 4 salads, one $52.00 bottle of wine, 3 coffees, 2 desserts - Steaks - 2 Ribeyes one meduim well - one medium rare, a Filet mignon- supposed to be meduim well. (The smart person in our party had the shrimp) All of the steaks were RARE - Blood RARE - We sent back 1 ribeye and 1 filet mignon - guess what - they came back well done and inedible. HORRIBLE! We have eaten here in the past and had the same problem, this was the last time. There are so many better steak restaurants. I told our server about the problem as we were leaving - had she come back and asked us how the steaks were when they brought them back we would have told her, unfortunately we did not see her until the end of the meal.

MY REVIEW: Service is very good.... the restaurant is very loud though... The carpaccio is great, so is the creamed spinach with a touch of bacon.... Steaks are by far better at the C*apital Grille... if you go must try the Key Lime pie.. is the best!!

MY REVIEW: The first time I visited was after my college graduation. I had not made a reservation, so after the ceremony when my family was asking about dinner I called and asked if they could possibly accomodate 11 people on such short notice on a Saturday. To my surprise they said yes. The table was ready when we got there and it was probably one of the best meals in my life. Everyone was blown away by the food. I had the petite filet and it was perfect. I agree with the simplicity of the way they serve their steaks. It is just really good steak, not a mediocre piece of beef covered in a strong sauce. The service was amazing. I would highly recommend the wedge salad, but you should split it with at least one other person if you expect to eat anything else. I also tried the beef flemington, which was great. The Green Point shiraz is amazing, but I don't think there is a bad wine on their wine list. However, you are going to pay about 3 times what it would cost at Spec's. I would recommend going early to avoid the crowd, it gets a little noisy. The chocolate mousse cake and creme brulee are out of this world. Next time I will try the lava cake. I will definitely be going back, and my family members are looking for locations in their cities.

MY REVIEW: We had a reservation at 8:45 Saturday, but the place was overbooked & we had to wait until 9:20 to be seated. When we finally were seated, they gave us a plate of champagne brie and peppercorn blue cheese dips with croutons and celery as a starter. These were delicious. We also ordered the cheese plate appetizer and were pleased with the international selections. The waiter gave us plenty of time between courses, and was very knowledgeable on our our wine and cheese requests. I had the mixed grill (filet, lambchops & scallops). I was also mainly impressed with the lambchops and thought the others were bland. My husband had the filet and lobster, and the lobster was magnificent. It was a large size and extra fluffy. We also tried the cream corn with Gruyere and Parmesan, which was an interesting but tasty combo. The creme brulee was incredibly creamy, and they use a tahitian vanilla.
The food was very good, but maybe not worth a 35 minute wait. We may try again on a less crowded night.

MY REVIEW: Waitstaff: Very friendly and helpful without being overbearing Wine Mgr: Knowlegable and likable, we ejoyed talking with him Food: Very good to excellent Wine: 100 wines by the glass or bottle ($8-13 per glass) Ambiance: A+ (we sat in the wine room) Able to converse without raising your voice Wait time: We were seated promptly even though we arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time of 7:30pm Price: $113 before tip for 2 glasses of wine, 2 entrees, one salad (split), one side (split), one dessert (split)
Food: The wedge salad with thinly sliced red onions, vine ripened cherry tomato halves, creamy salad dressing with chunks of fresh blue cheese was phenomenal. Luckily, we asked that the kitchen split it between my husband and I, because it would have been a meal otherwise. The Fleming potatoes (served family style) are a triple cheese with cream potato casserole (similar to Au Gratin but way better) that melts in your mouth (one order served us both with some left over) - a must try!
I had the mixed grill plate ($34.95) which had a 4 oz steak, 2 lamb chops and 3 scallops. The scallops were tender but served atop a rather bland cream sauce, the steak was tender, well cooked though not as seasoned as I personally like, but the lamb chops took to me to the moon - they were out of this world - Well-seasoned, tender and juicy. My husband had the petite filet and he was very happy with it.
The finale was the chocolate lava cake with 2 scoops of vanilla ice-cream and chantilly cream which we shared - but the next time I'm NOT sharing! It was all I could do to restrain myself from licking the plate. We found this to be such an enjoyable experience that we were still talking about it the next day. We are defintely putting Fleming's Prime Steakhouse on our Friday night RD (real date) rotation.

MY REVIEW: Fleming's is one of the best valued restaurants for quality prime steaks in Houston. I made a special request for the Cajun seasoned NY Strip; verses the rid-eye steak. It was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. I watched the kitchen staff from our table and everyone was clicking like clock work in the preparation area. Compliments to the managing partner of Fleming's and their partner chef - James. Request Eddie on your next visit for excellent service and good conversation.

MY REVIEW: I had always heard good things about Fleming's and decided to take my dad there for his birthday. While the service was very good, the steaks were not. First, it took over 45 minutes to get our steaks. Then when they arrived mine was full of excess fat and gristle. By the time I was finished trimming off all the fat and gristle, a third of my steak was gone! I mentioned it to both the waitress and Ruben, the manager, and even showed them the pile of fat/gristle on my plate. They were polite and gave us a free dessert, but seemed to just shrug their shoulders about it.
My dad also order the NY Strip and said his had next to no flavor. He had to ask for a dipping sauce for the steak and he never puts sauce on his steaks. My husband said his steak was good but not great.
The side dishes and desserts were excellent. The onion rings are a must! We also had the Potatoes Fleming which were delicious. For dessert we had cheescake and creme brulee. The cheesecake was very good - like true NY-style cheesecake. The creme brulee was terrific and I am very picky about creme brulee.
But all-in-all, we went to Fleming's for the steak and will not be back. For the best steak in Houston I recommend the Str*p H*use. I went there the Sunday after going to Fleming's and was reminded about how truly heavenly a steak can be!

MY REVIEW: Fleming's has consistently been one of the best steak experiences around - a place to go if you love steak and cabernet. We went for a corporate dinner in a private room. The appetizers - lobster tempura, tuna, cajun bbq shrimp and baked brie - were all very good. The steaks for dinner were outstanding, whether it was the filet, the rib-eye, or my choice the bone-in strip. Everyone enjoyed their dish across the board. The potatoes fleming received high marks, along with the onion rings and creamed spinach. For dessert, you have to try the chocolate lava cake - you must order in advance as it takes 15-20 minutes, but it was worth it. Excellent choice of wines and very attentive service that knows how to stay available, but out of the way. Overall, Fleming's consistently excels and several of us commented that it was a better experience than some of the more talked about steakhouses in town.

MY REVIEW: Exceeded my expectations, for both food and service.
Had the Sunday special prime rib, which includes a salad, entree, choice of sides and dessert. My husband had a filet, with stuffed potato and mushrooms. We started with crab cakes which were good. I got the Caesar salad, and it was the best. The dressing was very good - not heavy and gloppy as most places. Innovative serving, very attractive. The prime rib was very good. The potatoes Fleming were out of this world.
Service, as has been mentioned, was about the most professional you'll find in Houston - Unobtrusive and efficient.
Wine list was very good, prices run to the Houston highs, but we were pleased with our selections.
We went for my husband's birthday. They had it noted, the waiter mentioned it, and they brought him the best dessert he has had. He said it is what Houston's brownie-nut dessert will be when it grows up. Another nice touch, they didn't do a big singin' happy birthday, which he really appreciated. Just brought the dessert with a candle, and said enjoy.
All in all, it was a great experience. We would not hesitate to return.

MY REVIEW: AMAZING....I have been to some of the best restaurants in Houston including, Cafe A*nnie, P*esce, C*hurascoes, M*ark's etc. and they do not nearly compete with Fleming's. There is never a wait for a reserved table and the waiters are always friendly and efficient. The food is out of this world. Especially the blue cheese mashed potatoes and the beef 'flemington'. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone....last time I went George Bush Senior was on the next table to me.

MY REVIEW: Beautiful decor, no wait for our reservation, free dessert for our anniversary and a wonderful waiter.
Terrible beef "flemmington" & an over cooked steak. Cold side dishes, cold coffee, overpriced wine list. Way too loud for us to really enjoy our evening.

MY REVIEW: Well, crud! My last two meals at Flemings have been marred by gristley rib eye steaks, on one occasion cold vegetable dishes (without an apology from the server)and the removal of the celery root smashed potatoes from the menu. Onward in my search for a better steakhouse. Boohoo. This was in my neck of the woods.

MY REVIEW: I took my husband yesterday for his b-day to have dinner, and everything was great! I was looking up the best steakhouses in Houston, and I had been to most of them already so I decided to try this place out! The decor, the staff and the food was out of this world. I had the carpaccio to start with and an onion soup, which very tasty. Our server Patricio was very friendly and gave us great service. I will sure be back for more! I highly recommend this place!

MY REVIEW: I love this restaurant -- the ambiance is lively and the food and service are super. Steaks are cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes with celery root are addictive. Wish "The Wedge" -- my favorite salad -- were an actual quarter of a head of lettuce, not split in two. Have taken familyand my favorite carnivore here for special occasions all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

MY REVIEW: Our dinner group of 6 had a wonderful dinner there. The steaks were cooked to order and were very flavorful. We all shared in the side dishes, again all were very good. I think the Fleming's potatoes and the creamed spinach were the best. There Wedge Iceburg salad (which I get at all steakhouses so I can compare) was good but not outstanding. We all had the Chocolate Lava cake and it was amazing - nothing better than warm, oozing chocolate!
The service was attentive without being overbearing.
Two weak points: it's a bit noisy for a high caliber restaurant and they are too proud of their cocktails and wines. $11 for a Cosmo seems a bit steep and their bottles of wine although a good selection, were priced a good bit higher than comparable restaurants. Since one of the national wine magazines was just raved about what a bargain wines are in Houston restaurants, maybe they will drop their prices.

MY REVIEW: My son and I had an excellent meal here. The service was superb - our waiter was Terrence and he was not only attentive but very friendly. We both had the filets which we like medium rare and they were perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the Key Lime Pie - I can truthfully say it's the best I've ever. We will definitely return to Flemings for our next special occasion.

MY REVIEW: We had a wonderful time. The food was great - not greasy at all. Two guest had pork chops and 3 had prime rib. Wonderful. Our waiter Matthew took care of all our needs. This was out first visit so he took the time to explain the menu and wine list. We will be going back soon and will ask for Matthew. I also received a complimentary dessert for my birthday.

MY REVIEW: Ditto on the greatness of the steakhouse. It seems as if PF can't do anything wrong. All went smoothly: reservations, drinks, service, the food is impeccable. But of course I have loved PF Chang's ever since I discoverd it in Phoenix 10 years ago. The only weak pont would be the "atmospheric" din. But I would not let this small point keep me away from divine food.

MY REVIEW: This is in my opinion the best steak house in Houston and probably in Texas. The meat was prepared perfectly and the side dishes are easily shared by two or three. Very nice wine list and reasonably priced. For an appitizer we shared the crispy lump crab cakes and they were wonderful. The specialty desert is the chocolate volcano cake (I think this was the name) and it was outstanding. The room is a little noisy, but a great place to spend an evening.

MY REVIEW: One of the top steak houses in town. Steaks were done perfectly and the wide assortment of side dishes were the perfect accompiments. Side dishes are large and easily feed 2 people. Good wine list with reasonable prices. Despite the crowded main dining room, the noise level was reasonable. Service was attentive without being obsequeous. The wait staff did not seem interested in turning the tables.
