MY REVIEW: [note: I've only been on the weekend.]
Ruchi's on Westheimer isn't so much about the food as it is the alcohol. I seemed to be the only one not drinking. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have live music. Both times I've been there, it's been incredible music and the bands have been very fun and upbeat. There's a reason it's packed on the weekend.
Their food is relatively pretty cheap. I've only tried the vegetarian stuff and their shrimp dishes. Both are very good, especially for the price. Shrimp seemed incredibly popular. The waitstaff was excellent. I had a chance to talk to the manager last time I was there. He was very funny and a nice guy. They've got outside seating on Westheimer which isn't the best view, but when the temp is right it's nice to sit outside.
Overall, good atmosphere; good, cheap food; and good service make this place and excellent choice.

MY REVIEW: Can't say I really dislike it. It is more authentic than most; although meats not drained properly can leave some dishes soaked in grease. Service was friendly and accomodating; they were able to create a chorizo and egg burrito on request that was not on the menu.

MY REVIEW: I made the mistake of coming in one Sunday morning with a hangover for some barbacoa... BIG MISTAKE I must say. I got two tacos full of boiled white fleshy material resembling fat.

MY REVIEW: Really good Mexican food. I've had the huevos rancheros plate for breakfast with refried beans, rice, corn tortillas. Also a pork torta for lunch. It was late in the day and the pork was good but a bit skimpy -- served on a large, very fresh bun with shredded lettuce. The pork tacos I saw looked to be stuffed with pork. Nice re-do of decor here with plenty of space around the tables and there's a long bar along one side of the room.
