Dos Mas
103 W Bay Area Blvd, Webster, Texas 77598
MY REVIEW: Decided to try this place for lunch recently. Expectedly, parking was a bit tight during a weekday lunchtime. First, we were greeted by an enthusiastic server; even asked by two servers regarding beverage order, along with a quick visit from the manager, which was nice that they were attentive. Lunch specials offered a decent variety, though nothing unique.
Overall the food quality was about a 'C', though served reasonably quick, but no flavors or particular qualities that would stand out compared with similar cuisine. The salsa served with the chips was fresh and tasty - I'd give it a B+ Given the location, there are many other Mexican/Tex-Mex to choose from, so I doubt I'll return.

MY REVIEW: Visited this restaurant with friends for lunch. We loved the food. The chile con queso was excellent! We ordered the #6, #7, and #8 combo plates. No complaints from any of us but they could put more quacamole on the plate. I saw where someone else mentioned that. Our waiter checked on us many times throughout our meal and the guys filling glasses made sure we had full ones. I will definitely go back and try out the ritas for $1.25

MY REVIEW: I went to Dos Mas, but broke one of my own rules that says: when trying a Mexican restaurant for the first time, always order the biggest combo plate. That way I get to sample Tex Mex staples like taco, tostado, queso, enchilada (preferably beef), tamale, rice & beans. My thinking is that if a restaurant can't master the basics, then I'm not interested in exploring the menu any further.
In the past I stayed away from Dos Mas based on lackluster reviews and word of mouth, but apparently there is new ownership/managers and lately the reviews are sounding better. The last reviewer invited us not to be afraid to travel off the beaten path. So I violated a self-imposed rule and did not order a basic combo meal. Instead, I veered off the "beaten path" and ordered a seafood burrito. It was just barely ok, but certainly lacking any WOW factor. The best thing about the burrito was the grilled fish and dirty rice it was stuffed with. Fish was gilled nicely and the dirty rice was surprisingly tasty. However, it was downhill from there. It was covered with a cream sauce that missed it's mark---more like watered down queso than cream sauce---very little flavor or complexity. For good examples of Mexican sauces in this area, one has only to try the jalapeno cream sauce at G*abacho's, the jalapeno almond sauce at L*eila's or the habanero cream at M*arina's. The flour tortillia tasted store-bought. And the small shrimp and tiny, tiny crawfish were probably out of a Sysco bag---texture & taste were institutional at best.
The "off the beaten path" seafood burrito in cream sauce was a bust. Maybe not a complete bust, but there were more negatives than positives. And now I have no idea how they execute the basics of Tex Mex and probably won't return to find out.

MY REVIEW: I eat here generally once a week since it is so close to my job. They either have new owners or a new cook. The menu has changed and the food has expanded into really awesome horizons! The seafood enchiladas are terrific and come with dirty rice and delicious veggies. Don't be afraid to travel off the beaten path of "normal" Mexican food. You will be pleasantly surprised! Their hot sauce is addicting...the red and the tomatillo as well. The chips are fresh, thin and crispy. The margaritas are often on special for $1.25 and they do the trick!Check it out!!!!

MY REVIEW: For some reason I believe the restaurant ( Dos Mas) was under new management. About 7 years ago when I lived in the area, I would visit the restaurant and enjoy it very much. Back in October of last year, my mother and I had lunch there and expected the same service I got when I would frequent the restaurant. Although, back when we would visit Dos Mas, we would go for drinks and appetizers. The food was good. The last visit our lunch was very disappointing. And I do mean our last visit! Our server looked as if he was bothered by us. He came to our table a total of two times, once to take our order and then to deliver our food. We had to ask for refills by another person because our server was sitting at the bar. We tried getting his attention but he would turn away fast. We wondered if we did something wrong. When our server took an other order from the table next to us, I replied to him with "excise me" and he walked by us then with an attitude answered if we needed anything. I asked for more chips and salsa then he walked away. Needless to say he never came back to our table. I was not only disappointed, I was angry. Usually, when a waiter does his job he of course gets tipped. When a waiter does an excellent, I not only tip him nice, I make it a point to share it with the manager. On this occasion I didn't feel bad not tipping this waiter. I was completely disgusted with this guy that all I wanted to do was leave and never come back. I wish I knew his name because I wouldn't feel bad sharing it.
If you have experienced this before please let someone know. I didn't feel the need to waste my time or money there anymore.(tall thin light skin hisp. Male with mustache)

MY REVIEW: Wow has this place changed. I have not gone back to Dos Mas for a few years but decided to stop in and check it out. Beautiful new bar and looks like they have done some remodeling. I was told it was a new owner. The food was hot prompt and very good. I had the chicken special of the day which had sliced avocado in a cream sauce which was fantastic. The margaritas were surprisingly cheap and very good. Much better experience considering how bad it was a few years ago. I would recommend a return visit if you havnt been in a while.

MY REVIEW: I used to go to this restaurant several times a week. But about a year ago, I was SHOCKED. The place was dirty, the food cold, and just thrown on the plate. My friends and i stopped going. I visit the Vac/Machine next door and the owned asked if I had visit since the new owners had taken over. he said everything was good and the menu had changed. i stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprise. The place was clean, and the food excellent. i will be attending again soon. The menu is great, large selections, and the prices are right.

MY REVIEW: The only good thing was the queso. Everything else was gross. Greasy, soggy and just not good. The rice was dry and old the beans tasted like cheap and canned. Service was OK. It was very hot inside and very run down. I won't be back.

MY REVIEW: This was my return visit from like 6 years ago (I have moved) which I remember it was really good, but this time, not so good. I thought the salsa tasted like cold, not-so-hot "hot" Pace picante sauce. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas. I started to eat them, then I thought, omg they gave me pork, its chewy and flavorless and kinda gross. I pulled out whatever it was I was eating and it was a form of shrimp, but it was like a half an inch long, dark hard and a big black poopy line down the back. I don't know where they found these kind of shrimp, but I wouldn't even feed the fish this shrimp. Being so close to the coast, this is unacceptable. I had to send the dish back as I could not eat another bite.
I then chose a meatless combo platter that had a bean tostada, bean taco, cheese tostada and 2 cheese enchiladas believing they couldn't go wrong with this, but it was lacking flavor all the same. I mean, not even the beans tasted good. I was totally disappointed and will never return. Such a shame, as way back in the day, this place used to be so good.

MY REVIEW: This is by far my favorite Mexican food restaurant. We go about 3 times a week. My son won't go anywhere else and he is 5. The folks are friendly and have our drinks to us before we sit down. We bring our friends sometimes and they love it also. There has certainly been some changes over the past 10 years but the food is awesome. I love the salsa. Sometimes on my way home from work I'll grab some salsa and chips and have it while I'm cooking supper. If you haven't tried it in awhile I suggest you go back. I've had them cater a couple of our events and they do such a great job and everyone loves the food.

MY REVIEW: Family owned? There was no sign of "family" on the night we visited. Just a disinterested guy hanging out by the bar, talking to wait staff that barely nodded when we walked in. The place was almost empty. We found out why!
The food mirrored the "Who cares?" attitude that we experienced...luke-warm refried beans, greasy chips and enchiladas with chili gravy that looked like ground cat food...fajitas and onions that certainly never saw the top of a grill.
"Dos Mas?"...No Mas!

MY REVIEW: Ok well I think that this resturaunt is family friendly and a very great place to go with your family. Sometimes there's even kids there helping out, which finishes the effect. The queso IS THE BEST IN TEXAS!!!! No matter where else I go, nothing could ever be as great as DOS MAS, TWO MORE PLEASE! =]

MY REVIEW: I've been here a LOT more before a year ago. I, too, don't know what happened, but it changed. The food is not the same as it used to be. And it got more expensive. Too expensive for the taste of the food you get.
Staff is still very friendly and good service. But I'll definitely need to hear it's back to the old way before I'm back.

MY REVIEW: Used to, this was my favorite Mexican food for getting a good meal at lunch time. Been coming here at least ten years. I don't know if ownership changed or what - but now the food is not even hot when it is served. Beans have an "off" taste. Staff is still friendly but sorry folks - the food is not as good as it used to be. The cheese enchiladas used to be my favorite. Now - cold enchiladas are NO GOOD.

MY REVIEW: I think Dos Mas Mexican Resturant has the best staff and queso. I LOVE it and love the family that owns it, it is absolutley amazing! Everyone should know about this amazing place because there is nothing to dislike.
All of the food is reasonably priced and everything is delicious and it seems like it is out in seconds! The chips are nice, warm, and great with the salsa and the queso. They are redecorating and the place looks amazing, now, wherever you turn, you can watch TV. It seems like that is not distracting the workers though, they are on the top of their game 24/7. The place is clean and even good bathrooms. You HAVE to visit this place! If you don't, your life isn't complete yet.
