Hunan Star
2453 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, Texas 77058
MY REVIEW: I'm a very picky about my chinese food and this place is by far the best anywhere around the Pasadena/Clear Lake area. Our favorite place used to be Lake G*ardens on Bay Area but they closed years ago. Hunan Star has a great variety, large portions and the staff are so friendly. They know us by name now. My whole family goes here. We all love it.

MY REVIEW: This was my 1st visit and I ordered from the lunch menu, #17 a triple combination of beef, chicken & shrimp in a brown garlic sauce with green onions. Tasted good, but would've liked either larger shrimp or more of the small ones. Came with soup which I selected chicken corn soup, but read a review which recommended wonton, so that's what I'll get next time. Also came with eggroll and fried rice, both were good. Portions are generous, so a good deal @ $6.75. There were some lunches for as little as $5.50.
There was a good lunch crowd on this Monday. Judging from ID badges, most were regulars from NASA and nearby office buildings and the staff called them by name. The fellow (owner?) who greets customers as they walk in is very nice. Service was good. Always nice to see a restaurant that appreciates their customers.

MY REVIEW: Awesome Food. Great, clean, family friendly place.
My family and I have been eating at this establishment for over 19 years. Yes that long. My son is now 20 and hes been raised on their food. We have four boys and visit often, We never need a menu. Our family has celebrated many birthdays in this wonderful place. Its a tradition!
The pickled cabbage is a treat, and we do always ask for more. My kids love the non breaded white meat options and you must try the green beans in brown sauce add your favorite meat and its a meal. If you are on a diet let them create a special meal just the way you want it. My Husband always gets the moo goo gai pan. Fresh vegatable in a creamy white sauce with chicken brest and your choice of white or brown rice.
The owners are very sweet and know my husband and I by name. I recommend this Restaurant to everyone.
The lunch menu is big, NON-expensive and the portions are huge. Try the Wonton Soup too! We highly think everyone should stop by. Located in Clear Lake

MY REVIEW: Always great food and service. The owners and staff are terrific. We have been going there for almost 4 years since we moved to Clear Lake. We would drive to this resturant if required but it is close enought for a 15 minute walk. Lunch is a real treat. They will customize any special order for you as well. Lucky to work and live near this winner!

MY REVIEW: I have frequented this establishment for 25+ years and have always been impressed with the food and service. The Hot Shredded Szechuan Pork, General Tsos Chicken and Combination Fried Rice are the best I have had at any restaurant. Very reasoanable prices as well.

MY REVIEW: This is a place where they really will know your name. The nicest and most polite waitstaff and owners. They will bend over backwards to please you. The restaurant turnaround rate here in CL is pretty high but this place has been around forever and I know why.
You can't beat the service and the food is delicious.
I always get chicken lo mein. You can't beat noodles that are made fresh at the restaurant.

MY REVIEW: I have been living in Clear Lake for about a year and a half now. I just found this place after a long search for a REALLY good place. I always judge the place by the egg rolls! The egg rolls are fantastic! The General Tso's chicken is not breaded which is great. The sesame chicken is fabulous, and the triple delight is a good mix of chicken, beef, and shrimp! You should really go and try your favorite dish! The people are so friendly and recognized me on my second or third visit!

MY REVIEW: Have tried the General's Tso Chicken and Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce. Both were spicy and flavorful. The chicken is not breaded, which seems to taste better, and they use only white meat. One time the chicken was not spicy but rather sweet. Don't know what happened at that time, but its been very good since. The pork was very tasty. They have a GREAT lunch special. Your entree, soup, fried rice and egg roll for around $5. Depends on what you get, could be between $4 and $6, but typically $5. For dinner it gets more expensive. Entrees come with steamed rice, fried rice is $1 extra. You don't get soup nor egg roll with your meal. Dinner for the General Tso Chicken is $8.95 while for lunch its $4.75 plus the extras are free during lunch.
If you can try it for lunch or have take out, it is worth it. Everytime I've called they have had the food ready in 10 minutes.
