MY REVIEW: If you are in the mood for a big ole country fried steak, this is the place to come. This is the best CFS I've ever had! Either go there hungry or bring a friend. A friend and I go there late at night just to split one of the CFSs! Some menu items seem pricey, but they make it up in portion size. Huge portions - great for sharing. They have great hot buns, too! Tonight we are going to go to experience something called Chicken and Cheese (or something). We saw someone have it the last time we visited and it looked delicious. We already had our minds set on the CFS, but promised ourselves we'd try it the next time we went.

MY REVIEW: I went with a couple of friends. It is overpriced, but you get big portions. The tenders are very bland (I swear to God!!!!!!). The chicken fried steak gets a 8/10. Our waiter was sort of rude, I guess she didn't think college students would tip good. I will never go back. I'd rather go next door to I*HOP. Of note, the dinner rolls that they serve were very good.

MY REVIEW: I went at 2:40 am (yah, really early), and the food was good, service was great, and the place was packed (there was even a wait line - mind you, this was a Saturday night.

Entrees we had: jumbo chicken fried steak, fries, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, bread, strawberry pancakes.

Pancakes were really good, and so were the chicken fried steak. The fries were alright -- I'm not big on fries or any potato myself. Coleslaw was yummy and the bread -- the bread is what makes this place famous!

Prices are reasonable, although it may be higher than some other diners that may compromise the quality of food... think about it, it's a part of the Pappas chain. But a good one, as are all other Pappas restaurants.

MY REVIEW: I love the food here...breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes it is better than others, but I have never left unsatisfied. Try the BLT and crispy fries. The chicken fried steak is crispy on the outside with just the right amount of tooth on the inside...come on, its CFS, if it were a prime cut of meat we wouldn't cover it in corn meal batter and deep fat fry it! Nothing is too fancy here, comfort food prepared well, and served hot.

That all being said...GEEZ! The service can be terrible! The waitstaff seem to have some sort of nasty little initiation program for new waitresses. The customer is seated in said waitperson's area, but never tell them that someone has been seated. Meanwhile, the customer is left without water or service for 5-10 minutes. You would think that whoever seated you could at least bring you a glass of water (I always want a glass of water right away). The new person now has an agitated customer on their hands. I try not to take it out on their tip, now that I feel aware of what is happening, but what happened to customer service?

MY REVIEW: Geez, where do I start? I absolutely love this place any time of the day. Breakfast is awesome I have had just about everything on the breakfast menu. They have great salads (Seafood Salad) that are off the chain and the rolls are outstanding. The staff is hard working and always cheerful. I recommend this place for families and even first dates.

MY REVIEW: In the dozens of times I've eaten at Dot, I can't think of a standout bad experience. The food is always very tasty and their desserts are fantastic (cheesecake and pecan pie are excellent). The daily specials are the best bang for the buck, in my opinion. My favorite items are the Houston Omlette and Chicken Fried Chicken or steak. Be sure to ask for bread while waiting for your meal.

MY REVIEW: Food quantity: Two people can eat off one entree plate. Is open 24 hours and service is good most of the time. I'm there regularly and I've only had bad service a couple of times. It will never be perfect all the time. Food is great and a lot. The only think I dislike is that there are too many tables to one waitress, so it kind of takes long if you need anything after you get your meal. For all the times I've been there i'll give them an A

MY REVIEW: my hubby and I frequent this cute restaurant every month... it never changes consistant good food; always homemade soups and the salads are awsome! the meatloaf is grandma's style; not crazy about the spicy red sauce they put on it. always ask for ketchup instead... same waitress always helps us and greets us with a sweet smile right when we walk in! the veggie soup is so good!!!! so is the chicken divan, wings are awsome... even spaghetti with a cold glass of milk!!!! my favorite restaurant in houston... and we eat out alot!

MY REVIEW: Excellent food. Good staff. Excellent breakfast's all time of the day & night. Way above average for this (D*enny's/I*Hop), type of restaurant. I don't like the way that either one of the manager's treat their staff. But this place is like all of the other P*appas' restaurants. Great food, decent price's.

MY REVIEW: One Word can discribe how "good" the restraunt is...!!!!!!HORIBLE!!!!!!! The gravy is lumpy the chiken batter tastes awkward,The food is noy very good. The only "STRONG POINT" is the taste of the buisquits. But they came late. The waitress whom served us brought the salad and then not 3 1/2 minutes later served the food. we had to stop eating the salad to eat the food.and we never did eat the rest of the food.

MY REVIEW: This place is way above the competition (Den*ny's,I*HOP). I am an avid coffee drinker so the fact that they give you your own small pot is outstanding. The food is great also. The wait on a Saturday morning wasn't that bad. It was maybe 5 minutes. But I will defitnely eat here again.

MY REVIEW: Had the philly scramble (cream cheese, eggs, and diced ham topped with green onions) and could barely walk around the U of H campus for the rest of the day. It was so good that the wonderfully fluffy biscuits and bottomless freshly brewed coffee took a back seat on this particular visit. From what I've heard, the lunch and dinner entrees are equally as good as the breakfast items. Will definately go back, just not before class like last time!

MY REVIEW: Best Juevos Rancheros in town. Everything on the menu is good and cheap, but try the juevos.

Service can be incomprehensively slow, but they are at least friendly. And try the Juevos Rancheros.

MY REVIEW: Dots is far above the competition. I am a coffee drinker and I love the fact that they give your own little canteen of coffee. Unlike IH*OP,Den*ny's where you have to wait on the waitress to come byy and refill your cup. The food is fantastic and very plentiful. The wait can sometimes be a tad bit long depending on what time you go. My friend and myself went at 12:00 midnight and we had to wait no more than 5-10 minutes. But well worth it!

MY REVIEW: I eat at the Dot once or twice a week. The food is generously portioned, flavorful and reasonably priced. Service can be a little slow but is competent and pleasant. The Dot's food is head and shoulders above any of the 24 hour diner competition in in the area (IH*OP, Den*ny's, Kel*ly's, Ski*llet, Dix*ie) and better even than the 59 Din*er or Ho*use of Pies (which aren't in the area). The pot roast and meat loaf are suberb. The liver, when I had it, was a bit tough but pretty good anyway.

The Dot, however, has one odd quirk. Their soft drinks are always flat -- with no carbonation. Maybe the fountain machine broke, or the CO2 tank ran low, but they've been serving flat soda for several years and don't seem to have any intention of fixing the problem. So go for the food but stick to ice-tea or water for the beverage.

MY REVIEW: Dot's is the acme of American diners. Excellent coffee (rich and flavorful) , the best pecan pie!(every bite is savored, great service (attentive), good for any meal. The atmosphere can work for a couple, a family , and/or a late night group of friends.

MY REVIEW: I love their Chicken Fried Steak. You get a lot of good food. Make sure you are hungry when you go here. The meals are Texas sized, without the Texas price. The service is excellent. I frequent here during my lunch hour. I have heard their breakfast is great also. I look forward to tasting it one day.
