MY REVIEW: Sat for lunch: great tasting buffet; but all the meats basically tasted the same - like it was the same marinade - even the fowl meats had the same taste.

And many of the meats had a toughness to them. Filet was best; although by the time it gets to you, you're full from trying out the other stuff.

Our waiter was great - good sense of humor - and served us great margaritas and capirihnas [that fabulous Brazilian drink].

Bottom line: Stick to the buffet; esp the pork riblets that are on there. And have the drinks.

*** You can smoke there upstairs but its a steep climb!

MY REVIEW: Wow! This is my favorite new place. We are moving to the Clear lake area and while house hunting stopped in the the Ex-old J*alapeno Tree Restaurant. The place is a jewel, food was marvelous and the service was great. This will definitely be our favorite place to stop.

MY REVIEW: Great service and quality buffet. Charlie (spelling?) was our waitress. She was so personable and prompt with everything we requested. We had a great experience and will definitely go back. My only critique is the decor in the front entrance. The whole restaurant is very nice, however the entry way and bathroom area looked like a hodge podge of my granny's old stuff for a garage sale. My husband said that it looked like C*racker Barrel, but it was more like yard sale, however great restaurant!!!

MY REVIEW: Wonderful restaurant. The lunch buffet is delicious, I've never had any problems with service and the food is great. Love the ribs and the shrimp bisque is wonderful. I've taken my girlfriend here for a nice romantic dinner, and the piano player and singers were great and friendly. :)

MY REVIEW: The food was the worst I have ever had. I ordred the rotisiere for $29.95. They had 1 waiter bringing out the meat. After 1 hr. he had been to our table 3 times giving us 3 little slivers of meat inluding 2 shimp each. The meat and shrimp had pepper poured on it as seasoning all you could taste was the pepper. The meat was dry the shrimp where not clean. After speaking to the manager all he could say is this is how we cook our food. We paid full price and went and had a meal that was gourmet compared to this restaurant at good reliable Burger King. This was surely a poor meal that was in a very nice restaurant.

MY REVIEW: The food and buffet is consistently wonderful--great presentation, fresh, ssuper salad bar. Unfortunately the service is erratic at best--at times, we've gotten some nice servers, but mostly the service is indifferent and even rude at times. After driving from West Houston in bad traffic, we at least deserve courteous, friendly, competent service. Is that too much to ask? The booths are hard to move in and out (we're not fat) but overall it's good value for the money. Next time I get a rude waiter, I will ask for a different server--after all, we're the customers. They're not doing us any favors with their snobby attitude!

MY REVIEW: We ate the $8.95 buffet and we were very impressed, we do need to go back for the excellent buffet or try the carnivore special whenever we get over this way, the service was as good as the buffet. the only weak point is it's too far from my house to frequent on a regular basis. road trip, anyone!!??

MY REVIEW: My husband and I love this place. We always get the Rodizio which comes with the buffet. We have always had a good experience with the food and wait staff. Weekday nights are especially awesome because we are usually the only ones who order the Rodizio so we get such personalized service and first cut of meat right off the rotisserie. I especially love the pineapple from the rotisserie, it is a perfect dessert, and a healthier alternative. Though there is also an additional dessert tray on the buffet that is delicious.

MY REVIEW: I was very impressed with this place! We had a really nice waitress named Paula. It was our first time eating there & we had a coupon & Paula explained everything to us and was very helpful! I had the Argentine sirloin-medium. It was cooked perfectly & came with a yummy chimmichuri sauce on it. Along with a baked potato & salad bar for only $14.95. The baked potato was very big & full of good toppings. I was delighted to get the plate of fried plantains & chimmichuri sauce-plus chips & a pico de gallo. It was quite a treat. I definitely recommend this place & will go back soon!

I forgot to mention it was quite a nice, romantic place. There was a man playing a piano as well. Great wine selection along with a fabulous cocktail selection. I had the mojito! It was delicious!

MY REVIEW: Please ignore the complaints on this page. We frequent this restaurant and have NEVER had bad service, even on weekends when they were busy. The food is excellant. The fried plaintains, chimichurra sauce and the pineapple mango sauce is exquisite. The coconut shrimp is great too. I always get the buffet.

We did go there Thanksgiving day and it was great. This was the first time we had eaten out for Thanksgiving and yes, we will do it again. Their desserts are outstanding.

We did a party for 30 people and the service was very good. Have been there with as few as 2 and as many as 6 in a group with no problems and very short waits (if any). You cannot beat Chabucas for the quality, price, and atmosphere.

MY REVIEW: Very good! We have been several times for lunch and always had great service. We also went last year on Thanksgiving. They had awesome choices and an extremely friendly wait staff. Our church Christmas banquet was held there last year and it was exceptional. We all had the buffet and a dessert. The staff was friendly and allowed us to take our time with the banquet. This was not a large group of people – only about 20. Would definitely recommend it and I will go back.

MY REVIEW: We've been here for dinner once before and it was good, but I just can't say enough good things about the Easter morning breakfast. We couldn't find a place open in Clear Lake after the Sunrise service and then we thought of Chabuca's. I'm so glad we did think about it! We'll make this a regular weekend breakfast stop.

There were six adults in our party. We all LOVED it. The food was exceptional. They had an omelette station, a carving station with the most delicious sauce over a tender, juicy ham, a breakfast quesdilla station, a belgian waffle bar with all the toppings and fresh fruit you could dream of and then the regular breakfast bar buffet that included grits, oatmeal (with more toppings to choose from), sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits, pancakes, french toast, pasteries, fresh fruit and fresh salads with every sauce you could possibly dream of... I just can't say enough about how good it was. I didn't think my Easter outfit was going to fit by the time I got up from the table. The price was very reasonable... $12.95 per person. And the mimosas were fabulous! Please offer this again next year! Don't change a thing.

MY REVIEW: Well...I'm wondering where these other people went to lunch or dinner because we had a good time and great food. Do not always go to that part of town. We were there after 2:00 p.m. on a Sunday and got the $16.95 buffet with meat brought around. We did not have to wait long to be seated. Our waiter was late to the table and apologized and explained to us that he was getting slammed which we could see. We did not drink alcohol but saw others served and they looked happy with it. We drank iced tea and it was refilled quickly. Excellent cooked meat and nice portions. The salad bar is great. Lots of choices there. The two best things (besides the meat) they have are the pineapple on a spit, honey dripped roasted and the key lime pie. The other dessert choices looked good too and we could see others enjoying them as well. It was a pleasant surprise and delight to find this place as we had been to F*ogo de Chao's and the prices were horrible. F*ogo's upsells everything and we had ended up with a $200 bill. It was our fault we did not realize how expensive it would be. It was a pleasant surprise to have a $45 bill. And they do not push you to order extras. I understand they serve breakfast but don't know if it's just Sunday or every day. I was in Barnes & Noble bookstore and asked about places to eat and a customer clued me in to Chabuca's. He recommended it. We will be back!

MY REVIEW: I doubt that we will ever go back again. Staff attitude and service is marginal at best. We had a party of 5 and were told that it would be just a few minutes. Just a few minutes turned out to be a broken record repeated over the next 45 minutes. No other parties waited over 5 minutes. One time we were told that our table was clear but we had to wait for the people in the next table to leave so the staff could get the dishes cleaned away. We spoke to the manager who seemed incredulous that we were upset over waiting 45 minutes because after all we had 5 people in our party and they only had one table????????? We left without eating.

MY REVIEW: This place is great, but do not get the regular buffet(13.00)instead get the 30.00 buffet or Redozio. I think thats how you spell it. Me and my wife have been here at least four times and have never had any of the problems most people on here are complaning about. Service is great. Food is A+++. We had a problem once when my wifes dinner was taken to the wrong table. The waiter solved the problem by not charging us for her meal. ala it is a good place just stay away from the cheaper buffet. Oh and the salad bar does suck, but thats not really why your there anyway.

MY REVIEW: This was a 2 tripper.....my first, and my LAST!

Horrible service, but i could have overlooked that. BUT.the food was horrible..my husband said THANK YOU when i said i never wanted to return. Lamb and steak dried out and over cooked, mashed potatoes were instant and the waiter brought us the wrong drink order.he did replace the white wine with the merlot i ordered, but told my husband his drink was what he ordered ( and my husband knows his scotch)

Waiter yanked the plates off the table before we could say if we were finished or not and my plate was still half full ( although i couldnt make myself eat the dinner) Many places in the area that have good food..I'm just surprised this one is still open for business.

MY REVIEW: Aside from the terrible waitress who did not know the difference or take the time to explain to us that there was a $30 and a $13 buffet. We ordered the $13 buffet and got the Rodzigo or whatever.

It was WELL worth the $30, you can try like 20-30 different kinds of meat including filet mignon and duck confir (unfortunately they ran out of duck) along with get the regular buffet and deserts. I was a little upset when the bill came, but it's not like it wasn't worth it. New meats came around every minute, it was so for an antivegitarian like me. Just waiting for my heart attack now.

MY REVIEW: After hearing a good report on this restaurant I arranged to have a large party meet there for a evening meal. The staff seemed unprepared to handle a table as large as ours. The meals were not served all at once, some at the table had finished their meal before others at the table rec'd their meal. One person at the table requested a steak prepared in a particular manner, when the steak was sliced into it was revealed that it had been cooked too long. A short time later that same steak returned from the kitchen on another plate with other side orders and was served to another person at the table. At that point we asked for the manager. Our server was not eager to get the manager and tried to offer excuses, instead of offering to correct the problem. After a less than satisfactory dining experience we were ready to leave, getting the check corrected to address items not delivered to the table, and a child's meal charged as adult portion took an additional 15 mins. We will not go back!

MY REVIEW: Stick to F*ogo! I went to Chabuca's with my boyfriend and his parents and was highly disappointed. I had grilled fish which was flavorless and dry and it didn't sit well with me. The ambiance was mediocre and waitstaff slow. The salad bar was nothing to rave about. I didn't pick up the tab so I am not sure about prices but if you want a Brazilian treat, I highly recommend F*ogo de Chao. The food and experience is worth the price!

MY REVIEW: I haven't made a visit, but called about their Easter Buffet - what was being served and how much did it cost. With a short abrupt answer of 7.95 like always, I decided they didn't want my business. After checking out the reviews on this site, I doubt an Easter Buffet is 7.95 like always. I'll be staying away.

MY REVIEW: Since it was my 23rd wedding anniversary, I was VERY reluctant to visit what I only knew to be the old J*alapeno Tree restaurant on Nasa Rd One. I was really planning to go to F*ogo de Chao, but it is a long way from where I live. I'd never been to the other place but I had heard all about it on radio ads. I heard about Chabuca's from my daughter and thought it sounded a lot like the other place. I had not been down this section of Road in a long time and boy, was I surprised! The makeover of the old building is quite impressive by itself. I was glad that I had insisted on making a reservation with the clueless receptionist who told me "you really don't need a reservation". (Note to management, check your stupid phone recording that says if you want to make a reservation, leave your name and phone number and we will call you back. The machine cuts you off before you can give your info. I left 3 messages earlier in the day and nobody ever called me back.)

This was a Friday night and the parking lot was completely packed when we arrived. We were immediately ushered to a booth next to the piano which was a little too loud for my taste and we were moved to a table closer to the salad bar. The move cost us some continuity in service, since we sat for about 10 minutes without being so much as greeted by our "new" waiter. I was getting a little perturbed and it didn't help much when we ordered a bottle of wine that had not arrived by the time we started sampling meats from the grille. The owner came by our table and was notified of the problem which was IMMEDIATELY resolved. Once this occurred the service began to redeem itself. The atmosphere was very romantic. The pianist played wonderful non-stop music from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. when he abruptly got up and left. The meats were all very tasty and the servers were very attentive. The rasberry cheesecake dessert was wonderful. All in all, I really like this place and I will definitely be back. My total bill (including 2 bottles of wine and 2 desserts plus tip was $141).

MY REVIEW: My wife and I stopped by the other evening because I wanted the Rodizio, having a hankering for grilled meats. The service was good, not excellent. My wife had a chicken entre. I had the Rodizio. The chicken was dry. Not favorful. The grilled meats had in the interim since my last visit, lost the grilled flavor. The beef had an over abundance of some sort of grill rub applied to it. Each beef meat was overly salty because of the grill spice rub. The rub tasted like it came from from the supermarket. Not particularly appetizing. The other grilled meats, i.e., chicken, pork, and sausage lacked favor. Each was pretty bland. The only grill tasting item in the Rodizio surprisingly was the pineapple. For the price ($33), the Rodizio was not worth it. I guess if I'll have to brave the Gulf Fwy traffic and travel to F*go when I next want grilled.

MY REVIEW: WOW! This is the place to eat if you are hungry, that is for sure! Here are some comments I will share: 1) Ambience - the restaurant is very attractive on the inside, sort of rough with the stone and wood, but very attractive and comfortable. 2) The food is outstanding! The meats are the best, of course, and that is why I went there. I will go again just for the many different meats! They literally melt in your mouth and the different choices are incredible. If you are on a low-carb diet and want lots of meat, you cannot beat Chabuca's 3) Price - Yes, it is high, but if a restaurant is worth a lot of money, this has to be the place due to the choices and many different wonderful meats. The other food items are geat, too, but the MEAT is why you will want to go and return. 4) Speaking of other food items, make sure you sve room for and eat lots of the grilled pineapple! Next to the meats, that was my favorite item! 5) They have a simple Buffet, but believe me, if you go there, make sure you do the "Serve at the Table" option... that is where you get all the meats served and carved for you AT YOUR TABLE.

Overall I HIGHLY recommend it. You will enjoy it. A great place to take your spouse, a date, or a place to impress a business client for sure.
