Ponzo's Pizza & Italian Food

MY REVIEW: As a pizza lover, I thought I knew what good pizza was. However I've been blinded all these years and am happy to say I've seen the light. Ponzo's was recommended by friend as a must try for pizza. After the discovery of pizza h*uts new call center, we were dumbfounded at the sound of a happy voice asking us to take our order. We were in the delivery area, (Most of the inside loop North of 59.) we had no idea but the menu wasn't pizza but Italian all together. So we ordered our usual Pepperoni and cheese with light sauce large pie and began to find 45 one minute tasks to get our minds off the call center disaster . I got about half way through my list when I get a phone call, They were here outside our complex, I rushed down and met a our delivery guy who was to my delight, not in a rush, had a personality, and gave me a little background the business as well. Spending less the 20 bucks with tip, I was on my way to see why I had to try this pizza. DAMNIT! I forgot to ask for parmesan cheese. I was debating which excuse to use and when I opened the box a calming feeling had melted my the world a way. The smell, the warmth, the presentation, the cup of PARMESAN CHEESE, I was for a moment at peace. After a laughing at the foot and half of cheese string that was holding on for dear life, We sat down and enjoyed the best pizza we had ever had. I would describe the taste but it would be like trying to describe Avatar to a blind person. We had ordered a cheesecake as a topper, it was good, but after working cheesecake factory for 3 years, I was spoiled and should have known better. Long story short we've been the restaurant more then enough times and have used many excuses to why we shouldn't cook tonight just to feel content with our new favorite pizza joint.

MY REVIEW: I go to Ponzo's regularly- and yes- it upset me the closed early on Saturday the 27th (since I was hankering for their pizza big time) I ended up ordering from another Midtown location and regretted it. I ended up with a soggy, super sweet, under cooked pizza. I decided I would try again Sunday, and man am I glad I did. They are by far my favorite pizza owner around-The crust is always crisp, no soggy bottoms here and I love the marinara sauce they use.
I have only had their pizza (but tons and tons of it) so I can't say anything about the rest of their menu. And pizza likes can be a very personal thing- I suggest you give this place a try and see if it suits what you like.

MY REVIEW: Tried to call to place order for several pizzas before big UFC show and got rude answering machine message complaining that not enough people were calling and they were closing early. Have been here before but this instance really left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be counting on them for future deliveries.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I visited Ponzo's, looking for some delicious and cheap Italian food. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and he had the meatball sandwhich. Both were delicious and filling. There isn't a whole lot of dine-in space, but you could also take your meal next door to the little tavern. For the price, I thought Ponzo's was excellent. We also learned that they deliver, so we will plan to try out their pizza soon.

MY REVIEW: Give me a break. What is all the hype about? I have had better pizza out of the box from Randall's. Yes the owner and his staff are amazingly friendly and eager to please. This made me want the pizza to be great but it was simply ordinary. Ingredients are just the same as any chain pizza and maybe as good as some and maybe not as good as some. You won't be served bad food here but just tepid and uninteresting food.
I suppose those glowing reports on this site come from sophomore types still living in the dorm and have not yet learned the art of good food.

MY REVIEW: By far my favorite pizza in town. Always steaming hot and fresh, with the best ingredients. Their pizza rolls are also my favorite in the area! I personally do not eat much salad, but have heard from many people that their salads are also very good. Unfortunately since their pizza and pizza rolls are so good, I have not had the oppurtunity to try anything else on their menu. And yes, it does take time to order, but it is definitely worth it. There are no weak points that I have discovered so far, and I have been a good number of times. Its a family oriented and owned place, so the staff is always friendly and helpful. 4 out of 4 stars for its genre!

MY REVIEW: Ponzo's isn't Pizza H*ut, P*apa John's or any other chain place!! It's mom and pop, what Midtown is famous for. They hand make EVERYTHING! If you are in a hurry for a pizza don't stop there. The food is great, no greasy fast food pizza here. The veggie pizza is the best around, cannoli..muy bella! This little place in the heart of Midtown has loads of faithful customers. It is not uncommon to have 10-20 customers ready to order and people coming and going with their to gos. Instead of giving up on them you ought to try and order in advance...like it says on the menu...I promise you...you'll be back.

MY REVIEW: I have been going to Ponzo's since I started working near it. I love the cheese pizza it is the best. I highly recommend the small salad with the house dressing, it is addicting. I also bought the macaroni salad, lets just say I even have my boss hooked on it. Overall I think the food is great, when its delivery it does come on time, although when you go to the place and order it on the spot it does take some time if you order the spaghetti. I think its a great place that every italian food-lover can enjoy.

MY REVIEW: this is in response to the obviously disgruntled women who most certainly cant read a restaraunt menu clearly it most certainly states on Ponzos menu that LARGE PARTY ORDERS ARE AVAILABLE WITH 24HR ADVANCE NOTICE. So maybe they might not have handled it to your liking however poor planning on your part does not constitute a emergency on theirs. We at our office order Ponzos atleast once every other week and they have handled our order with kid gloves not to mention the food was hot and promptly delivered at the time we requested so maybe they were to busy to take your order and didnt want you to wait 3 hours out of consideration hmmmmm perhaps. Anyway our office loves Ponzos and will continue giving them our business happily .

MY REVIEW: So I called today to order food for the office. Consisting on 10-15 orders. We order different places daily and time isnt an issue. We have all the time usually we have to wait n e where between 1-2 hours which is very understandble. Anyhow when I calledd and gave them my address i got put on hold and told they stop delivering one street away. I said ok I will come pick it up. After explaining to her that I had exactly this many orders she proceeded and said ok not a problem. She took my entire order. After that she put me on hold again. When returning to the phone a guy (who claimed to b the owner) said "we cant do this type of order " very rude and began saying that I had called there 3 times insisting on this order - which is not true he then proceed to tell me that I have to call 24 hours in advance for orders over 5. then he also said that he had 20-25 people at the counter waiting to be helped . I explained to him how rude and unproffesional he was being and I dont mind taking my business elsewhere. I think that if he is going to be running a business and passing out flyers from business to business and home to home to he needs to specify that orders cant be over 5. I was yelled at and feel that he could of offered another form or something to that matter (keep in mind that I told him i didnt care if it took 3 hours). I highly am very disappointed in how the conversation was handled and he he didnt care about a potiental customer that would be bringing business to him at least once a week or more. I have never been treated so badly. So everything that we had ordered we found on S*icily menu. We faxed our order with no problems.. Lesson learned. Negative place !

MY REVIEW: I love Ponzo's from the calzone to the pizza and sandwiches everything is amazing!Even the dinner salad with the house dressing is one of my favs. I frequent italian resturants often and the calzone I would have to say is the best!It is crispy and filled with toppings that you request! I even have my family addicted! Only problem they do not deliver to my house but I will definetly make the trip out there.

MY REVIEW: Very good pizza with fresh ingredients. I think the mushrooms are sauteed. Probably the best reheat pizza I've ever had, as well. Good people and they'll also walk it over to you if you're next door at the D*oghouse bar. The calzone is big also, good for two people.

MY REVIEW: Very good authentic pizza. We used to drive to R*mano's, but since we live in midtown this is definitely the place to beat. Highly recommended

MY REVIEW: Well, they may not exactly “know my name,” but I do try to eat here 3-4 times a month!
I prefer the Calzone here and it always takes me 2 meals to finish it, if not 3. So defiantly enough for 2 people to share and an excellent price to boot! I have and would recommend this place to anybody!
Excellent over all, service, quality, flavor, and price! Plus they are not just open for lunch, like many DT places are. So it's great if you work the evening shift and they will deliver!

Whenever you go thet make you feel like family. With resonible prices, execellent food, and friendly service, you can't help but leave with the satisfaction that comes from a positive dining experience.
