MY REVIEW: This has always been one of our family favorites (we have been going here for several years and are loyal customers); We come in for Sushi most of the time but sometimes are in the mood for the Hibachi Grill. When we come in for Hibachi, we have a favorite Hibachi Chef (Blue Hat, Black "tie") whom we always seem to get lucky enough to prepare our meal for us. Our family has several pictures of the Chef and our daughters and friends together! Unfortunatly for everyone at our table the other night, we had THE WORST waitress on EARTH! She was abrupt with everyone, could not manage to get anyone's order correct, etc. Our Chef had to leave the table in the middle of preparing our meal to "track her down" to have her come to the table as everyone's glasses were empty. I could tell that he too was frustrated with the total lack of respect she had for her customers and lack of service because he did not "perform" the onion volcano or the shrimp appetizer, but seemed to want to move on to the next table and "be done with it". There were two other couples at the table with us who told us how bad their previous visit had been with this waitress. But they came back again. Will we go back? You Betcha! Because we have had so many wonderful dining experiences here until this visit. Talking with our table mates we all decided that Hido is a fabulous restuarant with one VERY UNPROFESSIONAL waitress, and next time we are seated, if she comes to the table "barking at us for our drink order, and what do you want to order for dinner", we will simply leave the table and wait for another table!

Our family's favorites are the (2) Calamari Dinners (sub Miso Soup and add an order Edame), Filet and Shrimp (with an order of salmon sushi), and my little vegetarian always orders Miso Soup, Hibachi Fried Rice and Sauted Mushrooms (note to waitress, NOT sauted vegetables, and NO they are not the same price!)

MY REVIEW: I have to admit that Hido has a great atmosphere with great appetizers and a friendly staff, but their sushi isn't the best. They don't have a large variety of rolls or hand rolls. Also, I like my sushi a little more spicier, and every time I request it to be spicier it never is. In addition, I tried their hand rolls before, and the spicy tuna was not spicy at all and the tuna was cut into HUGE chuncks. I hear that a lot of people like to come here and I don't understand why. The food's not that great and it is over priced. I suggest T*enshi Japanese noodles and sushi over on Jones road and fallbrook!

MY REVIEW: It's nothing to write home about. The food is overpriced and you don't get very much for your money. The vegetables that they give you with the hibachi orders are 90% onions and the steak was dry and the shrimps were well... shrimpy. Although the sushi rolls were very good, you can get the same amount for a cheaper fare elsewhere. Our server although attentive was very forgetful. I may give this place another change.

MY REVIEW: I liked the Habachi our food was great and the service is excellent. Our party had a good time. The Shushi could be better. If you want entertainment and staight Jappanesse food then I would reccomend this place. If you are looking for Shushi then I would strongly reccomend T*enshi on jones rd.

MY REVIEW: been there 2 times before sushi was ok little high priced and at the hibachi table they gave most of a foos to another person i got very few peices of steak and shrimp i ordered. my wifes food was still kinda raw and barley got a cup of fried rice as the family across from us the plates and bowls were overflowing. i would not suggest going there for fresh good food go to t*enshi or m*atsu for a cheaper price and better food

MY REVIEW: My husband and I luve this little place! It is a lot bigger than it looks- has two hibachi area that are hidden in addition to large room...a sushi area and sushi bar upfront! The first time we had sushi only and decided to keep in mind for the hibachi. Then we went there for my husband's birthday. We had to wait of course (Saturday night) but we didn't mind and it was worth it. THe hibachi chef put on quite a show for 4 year old- she didn't want to leave. He made her feel like she a part of everything, she had chopsticks and her own little plate! He even did a fire volcano and tossed shrimp at her to catch! Fantastic, entertaining and everything was so delicious! The sushi is fresh and great also. I would eat here every weekend if we could afford too! However, prices are not bad at all and very comparible to nearby japense steakhouses!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I are sushi addicts and Hido is far and above the BEST sushi in Houston. The New York Roll and the Crunch Roll have not been matched by any other place we have tried. The salmon is always fresh, and the spicy scallops and unagi are also some of our favorites. Service is always great.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I moved here from North Carolina and we had been looking for a Japanese Steakhouse. We went to several and weren't impressed until we found this place. It is similiar to K*obe's in North Carolina. The meat is sooo tender and juicy. The hibachi rice is awesome. We love it here and eat here often. The staff is always friendly and helpful, very clean.

MY REVIEW: The shrimp tempura was terrible. Some strange crust on the shrimp that wasn't tempura at all. Blech. The grilled shrimp from the hibachi was awesome. Stick with the hibachi items. Pricey but fun with my friends although a bit awkward sitting right next to a young couple on a date.

MY REVIEW: This is mine and my husband's favorite place to go for special occasions. We also celebrate New Year's Eve here with all of our friends. We really aren't big Sushi eaters, so we eat at the habatchi side. I would highly suggest this place to all my friends and family. Thanks!!

Although I'm not big on sushi it was pretty good, but I LOVED the Hibachi bar it was AWESOME!!! I regret not letting him take me sooner.

MY REVIEW: While I dont enjoy sushi my fiance does. I did enjoy Hido's hibachi. I agree that it can be awkward to have other people sit with you at the grill though. Despite this factor Hido has quickly become one of "our" special places.

The thing that stood out most in my mind is the entertainment aspect. Anyone who lives around willowbrook knows it can be nearly as expensive seeing a movie (8.50 ea.) as it is to see talented hibachi chefs slice and dice you a delectable chicken and shrimp dinner. On whole, I would recomend Hido to the culturally starved northwest of H-town. And hey! Can we get some cheaper movie tickets, dang!

MY REVIEW: I live by the Galleria and came to the North side to visit a friend. She decides to take me for Sushi since I'm a huge connoisseur and she stated that Hido was pretty good. I ordered the squid salad as an appetizer. My friend and I both take a bite and both commented on how fishy it tasted at the same time. Squid when fresh should have no resonance of anything fishy. I take another bite drenched in soy sauce hoping that it would help but to no avail. I flagged down the waitress to let her know that my salad was fishy and had to repeat it to her twice. She then responds with "Well isn't that what you ordered?". That response left me a little flabbergasted. She just kept getting ruder from that point on....She went to the sushi bar and in a VERY condescending way explained to the sushi chefs "She thinks her salad is FISHY". I felt so belittled from the experience and will never make the same mistake of going back. Plus the food was just mediocre, marginal at best.

MY REVIEW: My whole family loves Hido's, this is a great restaurant. Oh, I'm SURE there are better, but we up here in the great northwest outback don't have a whole lot to choose from, unless you go the franchise route. M*atsu, further east on 1960 is another good choice. For one reviewer...the proper slice of "roll" should fit into ones mouth perfectly...in one bite. So, if your mouth opens wider than a can of tinned soup, I can see how a quarter sized piece of fresh and gorgeous sushi might be disappointing. Sigh. Every restaurant has its quirks and its off days, Hido, I'm sure has its ups and downs, however, overall, it's a great place to have lunch. Personally, for my family of 6, it's too expensive for dinner. Service is almost always near perfect - they have had the same waitstaff since opening, and although not 100% perfect, it's enough on the mark for this great northwesterner!

MY REVIEW: The sushi and rolls are always fresh. For those who said it was horrible, you don't know sushi--stick to your california rolls. The staff gives excellent service--always attentive and polite. The hibachi chefs are entertaining and lively and I highly recommend the steak and shrimp. Overall everything is wonderful, but the most wonderful thing about Hido is their hostesses. They are simply the most heart warming and welcoming people of Hido. You can't find them anywhere else.

MY REVIEW: We really liked the large Hibachi grill, where the whole family can watch as your meal is prepared! It was a great entertainment for our young children especially!! They loved the volcano fire! The only thing is that others you may not know may be seated with you, which may make conversation a little awkward. The food was really good. A bit pricey, so be forewared of that. Expect over $10-$12 per person. The children's meals are especially pricey, too. (They were about $8 each.) Good food, good entertainment. Reminds me of B*enihana.

MY REVIEW: I eat here with my family at least once a week. The food is outstanding and the waitstaff is excellent. The guy that said it was a terrible experience is full of %**t. I will gladly pay the price for the good food and service Hido offers.
Thanks Hido

MY REVIEW: Hido was clean, the food was good (nothing spectacular), and the atmosphere pleasant. Our server did forget to place the order for one of our dishes, but it was quickly corrected.

I've spent less for sushi and sashimi elsewhere, but I was full when I left. There are a number of other sushi bars that I'd go before returning to Hido again, but would not be opposed to dining there in the future.

MY REVIEW: I think this is a great restaurant. I've never had the sushi there, only the hibachi. I've taken many friends and family members and everyone always loves it. The service is always very attentive, the food always prepared in a timely manner, and the food quality itself is consistently good. My daughter, who is usually a picky eater, will eat everything here, from the soup appetizer to the salad to the main course - so we here quite often!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I routinely visit Hido's for lunch. They have a well thought out Bento Box selections - there is always something that will appeal to everyone. The prices are reasonable, however, they do jump up for the dinner crowd, so we usually just stick to lunch. Their sushi is fresh and they have many tasty and interesting maki and handroll combinations. The hibachi grill is entertaining for the kids, although I have enjoyed more enthusiastic and entertaining chefs at other places. The food is consistently in good in my opinion and we have ALWAYS benefited from excellent and swift service. It is a welcome addition to the northwest area. Definitely give it a try!
