MY REVIEW: My wife and I have been here many times. The homemade desserts are very good, the breakfast is done well, and the burgers are delicious. It is strictly diner food with no frills.
Now for the bad news. On our last visit, we entered the empty restaurant to find two waitresses sitting around, talking on the phone. Now there's nothing wrong with a little loafing at work, but things became much worse. As we waited at the 'Please wait to be Seated' sign a waitress yelled for us to seat ourselves. Unfortunately, there were no clean tables. In fact, most were not even bussed, every booth had half-eaten food and lots of dirty dishes. When we finally settled on a table--complete with pieces of lettuce strewn about--the waitress put our menus in the mess. I asked nicely if she would mind wiping the table and she cocked here head gave me a fake smile and a very condescending 'Sure'. Now I'm an easy person to please when it comes to service (my wife waited tables for many years and I've heard horror stories about bad customers), but I was in shock. I have never been treated that rudely at a restaurant. We got up and left, and we'll never be back.

MY REVIEW: Have eaten there every Monday night for a number of months. When we first started going the food was great. The service was OK. Now the service is horrible and the food isn't much better. There are several of us each Monday and we get the same waiter. He can never remember who ordered what and mixes food up on the tickets. Last Monday I ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. What I got was a club sandwich on toast and part of the bread was the heel. I also got french fries that I didn't order. My friend ordered vegetable soup and a salad and he brought out tortilla soup, which was cold. We are going to be looking for a new place to eat on Monday nights.

MY REVIEW: I had just recently moved to Pearland and I wanted to check out the local eateries. I had breakfast-chicken fried steak with gravy, grits, and eggs with biscuits. I was totally disappointed. The chicken fried steak wasn't seasoned at all-tasted very bland, the eggs were runny, the grits gummy but the biscuits were great. I anticipated on making this the new breakfast joint but I was sadly mistaken.

MY REVIEW: My family and I went here for Mother's Day breakfast. Not many people in the restaurant but it was early. Very downhome appeal. The service was excellent! The food took a little too long considering what we ordered. It seems like they made their food in batches since everyone that came in the restaurant got their food at the same time as us even though we had been there much longer than them. My kids loved the food so I would say the menu is kid friendly. The chicken-fried steak was excellent and the gravy was great! The atmosphere is nothing to write about. If you are looking for no nonsense homestyle southern cookin', this is your place. Overall, we will definitely come here again.

MY REVIEW: I happened to be there per my friend's recommendation during my business down there. Surely wan't disappointed to say the least. Typical southern comfort food with a home made taste in it is what I craved for and it opens 24 hr is a huge plus for me, or anyone who needs a real midnight snack. The price was unbelievable good, way less than the nearby I*HOP. See ya there in my next biz trip.

MY REVIEW: Huge portions of food, all great. They offer a free kids plate that includes green beans, carrots and mashed potatoes. So far, we've had the Roast Beef (with salad and mashed potatoes), Ceaser salad, chicken fried steak sandwich, and the above mentioned kids plate. Great place for all ages, toddlers through adults. And the fact that it's open 24 hours is a plus. The train track is right there, but it adds to the charm, and truthfully, it's not all that loud when a train goes by. A step up from any other 24 hour place, it's totally worth the drive.

MY REVIEW: I have been driven by Busy Bee for several months, because my job occasionally takes me to Pearland. When I walked in the door, I was greeted by a case full of pies...I thought this was nice. I had no idea what to expect. Without beating around the bush, the food was very mediocre. I had a bacon cheeseburger, that was way overdone with onion rings that were acceptable at best. When I spoke with the waitress about the pies (thinking maybe this will redeam my visit), she told me that they were not home-made and that they came off of the food supply truck. Maybe this doesn't bother some people, but I would rather waste my calories elsewhere. If you like a "greasy-spoon" this might be the joint for you...don't expect too much though.

MY REVIEW: We've been in Pearland for almost 6 years and I finally convinced my wife to try Busy Bee. I think she was pleased and I found it to be excellent. The staff was friendly enough. When I tried to order a bowl of green beans for the little guy instead of a whole kid's meal, the waitress told us that a plate of green beans, carrots, and mashed potatoes is on the house for the little ones. Now that's nice! My wife had the fried shrimp po-boy and it was loaded with shrimp. I mean loaded! The ones that fell off made a second entree for me. I had a juicy grilled chicken breast with corn casserole and green beans. They brought some gravy for the chicken too and that was nice. I enjoyed the corn casserole, it was about a 7 or 8, but the buttered carrots didn't seem too buttered. My son's mashed potatoes were fantastic! Excellent flavor. I also enjoyed the pre-meal cornbread with butter and honey. The biggest flaw that I saw was the attached smoking room. Kind of gross with that nasty drop ceiling. It really takes away from the neat vaulted ceiling in the main dining area.

MY REVIEW: We first happened upon the Busy Bee in February and we both ordered their Reuben sandwich which came with fresh homemade potato chips. We spent the next 3 months craving another Reuben. We live 100 miles away and would joke about making excuses for finding ourselves "in the neighborhood". Well, we finally were in Houston and made it by last Thursday and boy, oh boy, was that the best Reuben sandwich. We've been trying to figure out how to make it at home. I joked tonight that I might just have to quit my job and go work at the Busy Bee just to learn their secret to making that delicious sandwich. The service was G-R-E-A-T. Melissa, our waitress had been working there for many years and sure knew how to make us feel welcome. Strong points: the food, the service and the atmosphere. Only weak point I can think of is they don't make their own desserts, but the ones they served were still delicious.

MY REVIEW: I've only been there for breakfast and the food is great with rather large portions. THE wait staff is extremely nice and very efficient. The only complaint I have is the restaurant has a strong smoke smell. Even sitting in the non-smoking section I can easily smell the smoke from the adjacent smoking section.

MY REVIEW: The only times I have visited have been very late at night. I was surprised at how good of a mood the staff is even at such a time. Speaking from the view point of someone who works in the restaurant business, when it gets that late, I have to try very hard to be friendly, so I was very impressed by their attitudes. The food I tried were quesadillas and well, uhhh, I'd say a close friend put it best when he said, "What did you expect? It's Mexican style food and this isn't a Mexican Food Restaurant." However, the burger I tried on a later visit was absolutely glorious. =D
Overall, I'd say it's a great restaurant worth visiting multiple times.

MY REVIEW: There's no place like Busy Bee for late-night breakfast on the weekends. Excellent combos with many options and generous portions make it the perfect place for winding down after a night out. Strong points: friendly servers and elbow room. Weak points: crowd can get rowdy in the smoking section sometimes.
If you dare, save room for a piece of pie.
