Larry's Mexican Restaurant
116 Hwy 90A, Richmond, Texas 77469
MY REVIEW: Best Tex-Mex in the area. I have been a Larry's regular for 30 years, never disappointed. I travel around the Houston and surrounding areas quite a bit for work and have eaten at quite a few Mexican restaurants (some very good ones too), Larry's is still my favorite. As other reviewers have stated: the building is kinda old (looked same way 30 years ago) but always clean; food is excellent, especially the cheese enchiladas, guacamole and salsa. Salsa and queso heat varies from day to day, ok for me but wire and kids can't handle some times. Only suggestion would be to make milder versions of these tasty staples so that those with more tender palates can enjoy them too. Thanks Larry's, hope y'all are around for years to come.

MY REVIEW: My husband was a regular here over twenty years ago before we moved to San Antonio. We are back now and went there last night. Believe it or not, many of the same staff are there, which indicates the management is doing a great job - and it shows. Unassuming building, plain tex-mex decor, nothing fancy (which we prefer).
We had his old favorite - beef fajitas - which were some of the best I've ever had (and I've had them at many, many places over the years). Excellent guacamole and fresh, warm tortillas, too. They also have a great breakfast menu - both traditional American breakfast fare and tex-mex. We highly recommend and will be regulars.

MY REVIEW: I have been going to Larry's for 35 years and have never had a bad experience. They have the best guacamole, salsa and special combination nachos. According to my father, their fajitas are VERY good and tender. My husband enjoys their carne asada. Unlike Norm (who BTW, does not know how to spell-fajitas are spelled fajitas and NOT FAHITAS). I moved to Spring and have not found anything close to Larry's. Everytime I go back to Rosenberg we make a trip to Larry's.

MY REVIEW: Excellent ribs - textbook perfect - pull off the bone tender - no sauce needed. Prices were good. Will return.

MY REVIEW: My daughter and grandchildren just moved to the Houston area six weeks ago and I have been taking them to Larry's every Friday night for the past four weeks. They like the food, the good service, and the lively atmosphere. I have been going to Larry's for several years because the food is nice and spicy and has the taste of home cooking.

MY REVIEW: I had driven by Lary's many times. The place always had a full parking lot. This does not indicate good food to me. I checked with Be 4 u eat on Larry's and read the reviews. I tried the queso. Very good. I had Fajitas my wife had tamales with chile sauce. I think this place may not be known for it's fajitas, but I think they were good. My wife's tamales on the other hand were very good. Everything was pretty spicy. Unfortunately more than my wife can handle. Even the salsa was hot. Fine for me not for her. I don't think this will be a regular for us. Ambiance of the restaurant, non existant. Good food reasonable prices You bet.

MY REVIEW: Before I retired, I went to Pecan Grove area to call on customers and almost always made it a point to be in the area at lunch time so I could go to one of my favorites---Larry's! The food (even the queso which is wonderfully different) is almost a carbon-copy of another of my (and Marvin Zindler's) favorites: F*elix (Westhimer). These are the only two Mexican food places that do dishes like queso, cheese enchiladas, tacos, quacamole, etc. that taste very similar to each other and different altogether from all the others I've come across in Houston area.
Read the reviews from F*elix. They are identical to Larry's-----MOST love both places, but some just don't get it. Larry's is great----hope it stays in the family and stays the same forever!

MY REVIEW: This place is like a flashback to 1968. Most have long departed this style of Tex-Mex fare; but it was kind of a nice change to return to the food of yore. I'd say, you'll either love or hate this place; but you sure shouldn't complain. It's one of the last of it's kind and they provide good service.

MY REVIEW: I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Up until Larry's there were a select few Tex-Mex restaurants that I actually liked. We went there to kick off our vacation and ended it there also, perfect bookends to a fantastic trip! I try to have something new whenever I go and everything that I have tried has been excellent. Their queso is awesome and I adore their margaritas. My favorite has to be the beef burritos smothered in queso...mmm... I think I may go tonight :)

MY REVIEW: I'll be there again tonight if I want to keep my husband. He has to have his weekly Tex-Mex fix. I've been eating there since I was a child. I introduced him to Larry's in the '70's. He's been hooked ever since. Every other Mexican establishment's salsa and guacomole are compared to Larry's. HE HAS NEVER FOUND ANOTHER THAT EVEN CLOSELY COMPARES TO THEIR SALSA OR GUACOMOLE.
See you tonight Chilo!

MY REVIEW: In regard to NORM'S review, it just upsets me when I see someone putting down an establishment that is very good. There is a reason why Larry's has been around for over 45 years and it is not because the tostadas were stale.
Because the Owner is part of the commumity makes it harder for the establishment to make mistakes and not serve premium food and give good service. You are part of a community and have to answer to many residents! Larry Guerrero opened up Larry's when Latins were not expected to be prosperous. He has gained the trust of all the officials and that says a lot. There have been many a mexican restaurant vowing to close Larry's because of there opening in the commumity and months or years later, they close.
Touche Larry's. Keep up the good work and ignore people like NORM who talk before doing their homework or were paid by another jealous Restaurant to write derrogatory comments. Larry's Mexican Restaurants serves excellant food and has extremely good service. All the waiters remember your name and know what you always order when you get there. In fact, they see you walking in and by the time you get to a table, you have your water and menus.
Larry's is the best Fort Bend County has to offer in Mexican food! Stay that way Larry's, you are the best for us. You must be doing something right to have someone like NORM try and put you down.

MY REVIEW: I have been eating at Larry's since I was born. I can remember eating chili con queso as a small child, and have continued to eat there for the past 36 years and never been disappointed. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. If you compare it to other Houston mexican resturants, then don't. It is totally different. There seems to be a love it or hate it attitude amond the local residents, but those of us who really love original tex-mex food visit often. Highlights include: the BEST guacamole, cheese enchiladas, combination nachos, the evueltos and ice cold beer. Also breakfast is served all day. The enchiladas rancheras are great. If you are reading this, dont let the negative reviews from others sway your decision to eat here. Trust me, if you try it once, you will be back.

MY REVIEW: I stumbled upon this site accidentaly - but now that I am here I have to defend one of my all time favorite mexican food restaurants. I have been eating at Larry's all of my life, growing up it was a tradition to eat there after church on Sunday's. Lazarus has been our waiter since I can remember (he also coached my brothers in T-Ball in the early 80's). I have NEVER had a bad meal or experience there. I LOVE their "diet" fajitas (chicken meat and salad), cheese enchilidas, queso and the world's best guacomole. Now that I have moved from the area it is a treat to eat there when I visit my family (who still eat there all the time). I can't wait to go back!

MY REVIEW: Strong point--Our favorite waiter Chilo!
Favorite menu items: Guacomole Special Combination Nachos Fajitas Queso--this is homemade-a very detailed process Salsa-no one else's compares
Larry's serves the True Tex-Mex we all grew up on. Nothing fancy just good basic Tex-mex always served promptly with a smile at a reasonable price.
Thanks, Chris for caring on the family tradition. I don't know what my husband would do without his weekly "Larry's Fix".
Suggested improvement--make the entire establishment non-smoking. I doubt, it would hurt your business. Frequently on the weekend the smoking section is half empty, with people waiting for the non-smoking tables.
See you Friday!
