MY REVIEW: They no long serve sandwiches. They told me they stopped doing that for over a year now. No longer a deli.

MY REVIEW: I've been a customer since they opened in 1983. They have the BEST sandwiches, cookies, cakes and my husband's favorite, coconut creme pie. Another family favorite is the apple pie with crumble top--to die for! We've moved overseas, across town and still we drive miles for their treats. I have to laugh at the other reviews about the "rude" lady. It reminds me of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi routine. If you don't know about that one, let's just say that we don't care cause the food is sooo good. It's not a birthday party without the fresh strawberry filling cake.

MY REVIEW: I've finally found a place in Texas that serves basic petit fors (1 inch to 2 inches of cake) with icing drizzled over the top. Everywhere I've checked, they were way overpriced because of fillings on the inside. I moved here from Huntsville, AL where I've always ordered petit fors, instead of cakes, for bridal/baby gift teas. This bakery was the last one on my list and they came through big time. I ordered 2 dozen with the bride and groom's initials on each cake, for a bridal tea. They were so beautiful and delicious. I also ordered 2 quarts of chicken salad (which I seasoned just a little bit more), that everyone loved and are still asking me for the name of the bakery that I ordered it from. When I went to pick up my order, I saw box after box of orders waiting to be picked up also. This was my indication that this was a good bakery and I would be pleased with my order. I can't wait for my next event, so that I can try something else.

MY REVIEW: I have ordered several cakes from Nielsen's and have always been treated quite well. Their cakes and cookies are out of this world. My 5 year old grandaughter will not have a birthday cake from anywhere else, the baker always puts fresh strawberries in the filling for her and no one else will. Every cake I get here goes fast and never any left for later. I love this place and will buy here as long as they are selling.
Thank You for the memories you help me and my family make!!

MY REVIEW: I have always been pleased with the quality of Nielsen's foods and have been going there for over 10 years, although the people that work there leave a lot to be desired. I called to order some potato salad 2 days ahead of time and was rudely told that they couldn't help me that she had too much going on. I for one, will never go back there again unless something changes drasically in the way they treat their customers.

MY REVIEW: We just bought our Thanksgiving pies and desserts from this shop, and if possible, these pastries were better than the things we bought on our last visit. The pies have real hand rolled crusts, and the fillings are made there at the shop. These pies were truly as good as any ever made. We have tried and loved their birthday cakes, cookies and cheesecakes. The apple strudel is wonderful. Every holiday they make old fashioned rolled-iced and decorated sugar cookies that are sooo beautiful and delicious. We saw the Christmas cookies when we picked up our pie order last week. Beautiful! We have always been very pleased with everything we have ever bought there.
The only down side to this bakery is the fact that they work to order. If you don't order ahead, don't expect a huge selection of extras sitting around for purchase. They always have many things to chose from, but it is a tiny shop, and if you are dead set on a German chocolate cake or a special flavor of pie, do yourself a favor and call ahead and order. I can always find something, and everything is always so good, but sometimes you are just craving a certain thing and you may be out of luck if you don't order. Aside from that , it is a great bakery, with a very nice , small staff. They remember you after a few visits, and do very good work. We love this place. There are not many small family bake shops around anymore, so this place is a special treat. It's the real deal as far as bakeries go-toasty warm inside and it smells like holidays at your grandmother's house.

MY REVIEW: The lady in charge of the baking seems extremely rude. Although this was a busy time of the year, more courtesy could have been shown. HOWEVER, they did squeeze my cake in to their busy schedule so I guess I cannot complain too much. But I was made to feel like a major inconvenience. The cake was pretty except that there was inconsistency in the way the border was done on one side of the cake compared to the other side. Some people loved the way the cake tasted. I personally thought there was too much filling in there. I called later the same month in regards to another cake and once again met the rudeness of the cake lady. She needs to learn to be courteous if she wants any return business. The only reason I even called was because one of the people that enjoyed the cake at the party requested I get them one for their party. However, we decided not to use them this time and I do not feel that I will use them again unless it is an act of desperation.
