MY REVIEW: My friends and I have been here now twice and both times the food was pretty good. We enjoyed the fact that it wasn't incredibly busy so we could actually enjoy our service and our meal in a leisurely fashion. Our first time we had the royal feast, recommended by our waiter, and I do think his name was in fact Christos, which unlike the other reviewer was not a bad thing for us, we enjoyed him very much. It was great and a TON of food and the second time I had a fish dish that was not bad, but not the best I have ever had.
The ambiance is nice and there is a homely feel. The host at the door seems to be a bit impatient and not as warm as one might like or expect, however the waiter made up for the warmth he lacked. Overall, both experiences have been pretty good and we will definately be back and continue to try new and different dishes.

MY REVIEW: This was our first visit. We had to drive from Tomball (a good 45 minutes) but it was more than worth the trip. Our service was outstanding and the food was even better than the service. We have eaten at other Greek restaurants only to leave still hungry &/or very disappointed in the bland and flavorless selection. You will not have that problem here. We started with the appettizer feast (which was almost enough for a meal) had soup and salad and then our entrees. The Athenian chicken is incredible and my husband enjoyed the snapper Geargio. Saddly to say we were both so full that we did not have room for dessert. We will definatly be returning!

MY REVIEW: I have been here a couple of times and love the food. True the service can be a little slow for our Western ways but relax and enjoy. The entire staff is very friendly and seems quite knowledgeable. But beware when Cristo wants to tell you of his favorite wine, when he hasn't had a sip in over twenty years, nor has been to Greece since he was teenager, some 50 years ago. The perfect salesman he is, trying to push your purchases to his desired sale and discouraging one from their choices. This I find annoying.
We will continue to go back and taking friends to enjoy the wonderful dishes but beware of the car salesman in waiter dress. There is a young lady who has served our table in the past and she is a delightfully pleasant women who made the experience more like being in a friends home.

MY REVIEW: We live in the Woodlands and have yet to find any good Greek restaurants in the area. Anything over the years we have tried has always proven to be a disappointment. The highlight for us and one of our favorite times of the year is when the Greek Festival takes place in the Montrose area each October. The food is great and best of all, they have the right Greeks doing the cooking. It's the church members- all of the "yiayias" doing the cooking. This year unfortunately we missed it. We were terribly disappointed and our appetite for Greek food did not subside.
My husband had some coworkers suggest Alexander's. We were skeptical, but they insisted that the food was very impressive. We decided to do our homework and started searching online. Needless to say, we found our place. The restaurant possessed a charming and warm atmosphere. From the minute our waiter (apparently from what I have read, the very popular Christos) approached our table, I had the feeling we were in the clear. He was totally in control of his (and our) decision making for the evening-dinner, wine, dessert. I have truly never experienced a waiter like him before. He works, sells, charms, and loves it.
Advice for your next visit- ask for Christos, be adventurous, take his suggestions and don't worry about what to order-he's your waiter, it's his area of expertise. OPA! Oh, and dance with the belly dancer.

MY REVIEW: My family and I have frequented Alexander the Great for over a year now. Alexander’s is one of the best dining experiences that we’ve had. The restaurant is beautifully pleasing to the eye and is so cozy and comfortable. The food is always fresh and savory. Every dish that we’ve tasted has been delicious and they are always presented with such style by the attractive wait staff that is very knowledgeable of the menu. The wine selections recommended always compliment the meal. Finish your feast with one of the incredible deserts (Galactoburiko is my favorite) and a Greek coffee. Oh, and let’s not forget Mr. George playing bazooki and the beautiful Sylvia and Lea entertaining you with their captivating belly dancing. Alexander’s is an incredible Greek experience. By far the most enjoyable part of Alexander’s has been the friendships that we have formed. The owners, Thomas and Katerina, and manager Nick offer not only incredible Greek food but also a taste of what are the culture and the pride of being Greek! Opa!!

MY REVIEW: Gentle dining readers- We can't help but want to share with you our experience at Alexander's. It's a marvelous Greek restaurant with the perfect location.
We completely agree with the other reviewers, the hot and addictive saganaki appetizer is to die for and it really is flambeed in ouzo right at your very table! The saganaki shrimp is delicious as well as is each dish which seems to have the stamp of approval and a strong recommendation by the adventurous waiter, Christos, and Chef Aristides (Sp?).
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, our service, and our recommendations and it certainly showed that our waiter not only knows what he does and loves it, but he does it very well. We will definitely tell everybody about this place and we will definitely be dining there again!

MY REVIEW: Hello out there all you Greek food lovers! When the question pops up "honey, where, should we eat?" PLEASE, do yourself a favor and just say Alexander's. We love it's original, not too trendy, authentic Greek cuisine.
Last week was our third visit and we will keep returning again and again. Our waiter, Christos, really made the meal for us this time. He was 100% Greek (not what you will find at a restaurant like Yia Yia Mary's), he was innovative, attentive and really helped dress up the authentic dishes we ate that evening. His suggestions were surprisingly, well, harmonious.
We're pretty versatile so we started with one of the most addictive and tasty appetizers you will ever have, saganaki. It's flambéed with ouzo at your table!! It's a show within itself. OPA! We've tasted several good dishes on our visits including their signature dish, their Royal Feast, the Aegean seafood combination and the rack of lamb (honestly, one of the kitchen's signature dishes).
If your questionng an evening here, please, do yourself a favor- have the saganaki, enjoy the lamb and for the ultimate dining experience that evening, (as some fellow reviewers agree) request Christos as your waiter! He is the best. His Greek character will only make your love for Greek food grow even more.

MY REVIEW: I read the review here and decided to make reservations for my mom's 50th birthday. When our party of 6 arrived the place was empty except for a couple of ladies. I thought it was going to be a dissapointing evening. Was I wrong! We started off with some mussels. These were the best I've ever tasted. We wanted to lick the plate! We all ordered an assortment of things, lamb, fish, beef. Every plate was delicious but the rack of lamb was exquisite. My dad is a foodie and he loves lamb but very seldom does a restaurant prepare lamb perfectly and last night he couldn't stop gushing about his lamb. The singer that was there was marvelous and made the evening that much more special. We are so lucky to have found this place and it will now be in our regular rotation of dining out establishments.

MY REVIEW: The very best in Greek food, service ,and entertainment(if you are there on the weekends for the Belly Dancer & Greek Band)and food.
The best lamb chops your taste buds will ever meet. The best thing to do is order the The House Special Lamb Chops and the Royal Feast and it will easily feed 3. The portions are good, and the food is great.
The decor is that of a Greek island place where you can either dress up or come as you are. The wonderful host and hostess always greet you with a smile. You feel like you are at your favorite cousins house to eat. The Desserts are to die for. Nice size as well.
Weakest point is get there kinda of early as it fills up fast on the weekends.
We liked it so much we were back for lunch 2 days later which again was awesome. Tell Nick Dr. Binder sent you. He's like the Greek God Father you never had.

MY REVIEW: When my wife and I first walked into a very empty Alexander's, I was not sure whether Greek food was going to be my idea dinner for the evening. Nevertheless, being that we were already there, my wife insisted we give it a try. I am certainly glad we did. We must have been the only table without a reservation, because within 45 minutes the place was full.
We were started with some great bread and a plate of seasoned olive oil for dipping, feta cheese and olives. Our waiter was an authentic Greek, 100%. His name was Christos and he was very knowlegeable and not to mention, funny. We asked for a wine menu but instead were offered a suggestion, or rather "a surprise" Greek wine that would not "break our bank" he added. My wife chanced it and we allowed Christos to bring us a bottle of red wine, upon which I cannot remember the name, but it really was one of the best wines I had had in a long time. We could not have picked it better ourselves. He then made some reccomendations for dinner. I did not know if we should continue with our streak of luck and I thought, this guy must be pretty sure of himself, but we decided to go all the way. We trusted and liked him already.
Upon his suggestions, we ended up with a delicious "Royal Feast", a combination of traditional Greek fare and lamb. It was truly an amazing meal and a wonderful night to remember. We look forward to our next visit and will be sure we ask for our new favorite friend, he really showed us a Greek night out. You might hate him in the beginning because he will take your bread and oil plate before you want to see it go, (it's only to save you room for your dinner), but, you will love him later when you realize just how right he was. Maybe if you're lucky and he's not too busy, he'll grab you (or your wife) for some Greek dancing!

MY REVIEW: My last trip to Alexander's was fantastic! My best one yet. The food, while average, was even better with the return of my favorite waiter. Upon approaching the table, as always, he was attentive, humorous and offered a perfect suggestion for appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The food is good authentic Greek food, a bit pricey but if your waiter is Christos, then you won't regret your trip or the price!

MY REVIEW: Wow what a great Greek place. Growing up in Chicago I experienced Greek food from birth thanks to some crazy parents. I have lived in Houston for 10 years and finally have found HOME. The food is great, portions are HUGE and Most of all they have the right Greek wines and you are served by a Greek waiter. My girlfriend (who has never had Greek) and I went after work one day and our waiter showed us the way through an amazing meal. No she can eat Greek and think of that silly movie. Next night went back with the rest of the family and immediatly our waiter remembered me as if we were old friends. This is a wondeful night out for a couple or family but make sure to make reservations if you want a table on friday for the music.

MY REVIEW: Strengths: Great food, great entertainment and unpretentious friendly service.
I came in with my wife on a Friday night. My first impression as I walked in was that there was not a lot of seating, it was a little dark and generally, I was not sure whether Greek food or the experience would be my cup of tea. In a short time, I knew this was going to be great. The waiter was really friendly and helpful. They started us off with some really great bread and a plate of good olive oil with seasonings, feta cheese and two whole olives. My wife and I eat a lot of Italian food, and the dipping oil was far better than any place we know including M*aggianos. We could have filled up on oil and bread and left happy. But why would we.
The entrees were really good. I was most fond of my wife's YaYa chicken. It was a really unique taste and it sat well. It is light even though there is cheese in it. I mean it was really good. I had the snapper with scallops and shrimp. It was good, but lacked some of the unique seasoning that the chicken had. Nevertheless very good. Prices were very good compared to other restaurants of similar quality.
The live entertainment pulls it all together and makes it fun. The music is at a moderate, perfect level so you can enjoy the mediteranian music and singing but still converse at a normal level. I also thought the belly dancer was a lot of fun and very tasteful. All around, a great trip. I am looking forward to going back with more members of my family.
BTW: The owner came to my table and chatted on a couple of occassions. She was very nice. It is really just a friendly atmosphere.
Weeknesses: Prices on wine by the glass are a bit high, around $7-8. They should add Bananas Foster to the menu.

MY REVIEW: An associate and I came to Alexander the Great this evening for dinner. The food was remarkable. We began with the TZATZIKI, then for the meals, we ordered the BRAISED LAMB SHANK, and PASTA CORFU. The lamb was the absolute best I have ever had. The Pasta Corfu was very good as well. For dessert we ordered the custard in filo dough and honey. While there was an exorbitant amount of honey with this dessert, it was delicious.
John and Jason were amazingly pleasant, and the service was fantastic. The food and conversation were greatly appreciated. We will definitely be returning, and hopefully very soon, along with other fellow associates.
Way to go guys - keep it up!

MY REVIEW: I don't know if the change in management has made things better. The food is above average to very good, but the service is terrible. I went for dinner and found the place almost empty but for one other customer. I made my order of the Greek salad with the grilled chicken which was very good. I like the bread and feta cheese with olive oil dip that comes free, but I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for my order to arrive and this place had 2 waiters on duty. If it takes this long with only 2 customers, I can't imagine what the wait is when the place is full.

MY REVIEW: I've been here twice. I did not know that there was new management. I enjoyed both of the Friday evenings I attended. Then again, I'm partial to bellydancing (which is excellent). Get there early on Friday. The Mexican restaurant/bar down way takes a lot of space for their valet parking.

MY REVIEW: This restaurant is now under new ownership.....
Please check their opening times before you drive...There is no Sunday Brunch, they do not open as advertized and their telephone does not connect... As for the food, I decided to pass after driving and meeting the new ownership.
The website is from th previous owners so it is not valid.
If you go and the food is O.K. then share the wealth....

MY REVIEW: My husband left a 50% tip. 50%!!!!! He's never done this before. That is how good the service is. Food: this is the best Greek food I've ever had. The one downside: the place is not real cozy--cold tile floor and modern decor, but the people are really warm and make up for it and they got us a great cozy table. We are going there for Valentine's Day.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I love Greek food, but are new to Houston, so we've been trying out different Greek restaurants since we moved here.
We just celebrated our anniversary at Alexander The Great Greek and I must say, we've never had a better experience in a restaurant, ever.
The food was amazing (we ordered the King Phillip Sampler, a Greek salad, and saganaki (sp?), that cheese served on fire). The wine was exquisite. When they heard it was our anniversary, they served us a candle-lit baklava surrounded by fruit in honey, and desert wine.
The manager and staff were extremely friendly. In all, we probably had a better experience than we've had at any restaurant, certainly the best Greek restaurant we've ever been to, both in service and in food.
And, extremely authentic. You really do forget that you're not in Greece.
