Cajun Greek Restaurant

MY REVIEW: This is THE BEST seafood restaurant on the island hands down. Unless you like the same ole stuff that the "big" restaurants serve--Which none of it is fresh--nor does it taste good-- Regarding the comment about the wait---the menu states that this is not a fast food restaurant so the wait may take up to 45 mins---that's because they cook everything "to order". Have been going there for five years and everyone I have referred, has absolutely raved about it--So if you want great seafood--go check out the Cajun Greek---if not---go to W*illie G's, L*andry's, F*isherman's Wharf----need I say more???

MY REVIEW: I'm an island resident, but this was my first time to the Cajun Greek. I'd been hearing a lot of buzz and decided to check it out. There are signs everywhere warning of long waits for food. They weren't kidding. We had to wait an hour for our meals, and it was still early at 6pm. The food was pretty good, but no better than any other seafood place on the island. Our waitress was a little clueless and having trouble explaining a meal to me, but it wasn't too bad. It'd be nice if they could expand and get some more tables. We got the last available table, so a lot of people were waiting to sit down. And they don't have a separate smoking section. It was fine--not great, not bad.

MY REVIEW: Man this place has really gone downhill. I usually winter on the island from October to February and have enjoyed the food and the service in the past. I don't know what happened in the past 2 years, but the food has gotten TERRIBLE and the prices have gone up. Try to order the Crawfish pie, they say they're sold out and don't know when they'll make more. That's the kind of attitude they have now. Coupled with the miniscule parking lot and the rude waitstaff, I was very disappointed in the last 4 visits. I kept hoping it would return to how it was a couple years ago. No dice. Fortunately Galveston is rife with Seafood places. Save your money and go up the street, I do.

MY REVIEW: My first visit was a couple of weeks ago during "Dickens on The Strand", stop in afterwards. We had to wait on a table for our large group but it was well worth it. The food was great and the wait staff was very friendly and prompt. I will be going back.

MY REVIEW: Excellent food. My mouth waters every time I think about it. It will become an annual event to bring the whole family in (20+) to eat while on vacation in Galveston. Unassuming hole-in-the-wall joint, but very impressive seafood. See ya there!

MY REVIEW: We visit at least 1-2 times per month on Sundays, and have for the last 4-5 years.
The crawfish are outstanding as are the crabs, the salad's are always crisp and fresh, the Oysters are great, the crawfish pie is heavenly. Have not ever been disappointed in the quality/quanity of food here. IT doesn't look like much but you just cannot beat the food. Might be hard to find a table weekend nights, but go early.

MY REVIEW: Noticed the name change (been years since I've been in Galveston), so I decided to stop in. Food is great, and the staff is ALOT friendlier than the people who owned it 5-6 years ago. I will be back next time I visit Galveston.

MY REVIEW: This is the worst Seafood in Galveston. I used to go when it was the S*eafood Depot. I have been very dissapointed with the food. Save your money. Galveston has many better plages to go.

MY REVIEW: Not long ago I read your reviews on the Cajun Greek Restaurant in Galveston that used to be the location of The Seafood Depot Restaurant owned by Sonny Martini. I took my family in thinking I was going to get Sonny's food, but boy was I surprised--nothing was near the taste that my family used to enjoy for over 6 years at that location when Sonny was there. I personally know some of Sonny's cousins and after that bad experience I called one and she informed me that Sonny went out of business and did not GIVE or SELL any of his RECIPES to ANYONE. I wished I would have known that before I wasted my money in there.

MY REVIEW: Found the staff including the owner to be extremely friendly and welcoming as I am new to the area. Had an excellent fried shrimp dinner with greek salad on the side on 3 occassions and was pleased every time. Will definitely become a regular here. The restaurant was clean, service prompt and I was never rushed. Excellent value!

MY REVIEW: This fellow bought hole in the wall restaurant and with it came the great recipes. Some dated back to the founder, Sonny Martini, and they came from his in-laws, the famous Maceo family. The new owner decided to change them. Big mistake. Use to have the best fried shrimp on the island, next to B*enno's. Now...well, we won't eat them any more unril he brings them back.
One very positive note: At least it passes the health inspections these days. But then who really expects a seafood restaurant to be demerit free?
