MY REVIEW: I didn’t like the nickel and dime 'ing everything. They charge you .10 for this and.60 for that. Most barbecue places, condiments/sides are part of your meal. The other dislike is the small drinking cups and large ice cubes. Inside the place is really nice and clean. The meat was average. Wont return most likely because I dont want to be charged .60 for pickles, $1 for a pepper etc etc.

MY REVIEW: Some of the most consistantly good BBQ in town. The jalepeno sausage is great. It is drier than a lot of other sausage out there but that is what makes it good to my taste. I am not a huge chicken fan but my wife and I split a half chicken order and it is very good. Great ribs, although on a few occasions they have been on the fatty side. The sauce is good cause it's not that thick sweet stuff so many other places use.

MY REVIEW: Went there after many months of living near the area. It was so-so. Barbecue is central Texas style, but have had better. Had brisket, sausage, and potato salad to go. Sausage was very dry. Almost could have passes as a thick slim jim type of dry. The sauce helped it make it a bit better. Brisket was better, not very lean, but at least it wasn't super fatty. Decent. Potato salad was ok, better than most commercial potato salads.
Not sure if I'll visit again, but at least it wasnt horrible.

MY REVIEW: When I need a brisket fix, this is where I head in Houston. The meat is consistently good, love the sauce, and the service is always great. It's a nice, peaceful atmosphere. Houston Barbecue Co. is tops on my list of reliable, local places to eat great meat.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I were in the mood for bbq new years eve day, we had heard good things about this resturant so we thought we would try it. DISAPPOINTED!
Ribs were ok, coleslaw was dry, brisket was tender but nothing special.... sausage was so DRY! Maybe the food is better when it is not a holiday? Won't be back...there is better bbq out there.

MY REVIEW: BEST BBQ in Houston! Reminds me a mite of the L*uling City Market style but with better brisket and ribs. Sausage can dry out a bit in the smoker as people keep insisting on lower fat so the sausage mixture suffers! BBQ Sauce is Better than 99.9999% of central texas. Slightly sweet, hint of mustard and a spicy background that I like but do not thinks burns your mouth (Yankees beware... Native Houstonian opinion!)
Ambiance struggles to juxtapose a classic central Texas Honkey Tonk with the almost new strip center. Looks authentic, country music not overwhelming. I like that you can order the brisket by the pound. We usually grab and go home as we do live in 77077.
I consider the slaw a weak point and the potato salad. I keep urging them to make a Dill Mayo potato salad aka B*ba Yega style... I will keep going back.

MY REVIEW: BEST barbecue in Houston. They have catered several events for us and we've always been thrilled with them. (As have our guests!) I like the brisket and the sausage links. They also have great beans and, in true Texas style, the bbq is served by the pound on a piece of paper.

MY REVIEW: I've never eaten here so I cannot comment on the food or service but as a native Texan (age 63) I can assure the reviewer below that selling Bar B Q by the pound is the rule rather than the exception in Texas. Some don't even offer pre fixed sandwiches.

MY REVIEW: The food was good, but of course eating from paper isn't attractive for a dinner out. We really dislike the way the food is sold - by the pound, weighed up, and extra for each pickle or side dish. That seems un-Texan. Where are the 2 or 3 meat combinations? Make it easy for us, for goodness' sake! Charge what you need to charge to make a profit, but don't make me work so hard and then serve me on butcher paper. Even L*uby's has combo plates.

MY REVIEW: I have trouble understanding how some people can give this place a bad review. They are obviously do not understand that there are a myriad of different types of BBQ in Texas. Kurt's is classic central Texas BBQ... not south Texas... Not east Texas, there are variations, thankfully. And each have their own merits and I like them all. However, regardless of these variations, Kurt's has the best brisket by far in Houston. I like his mustard-based sauce, which again has central Texas roots. I love all of the sides. But, most importantly to me and my family is that Kurt and his wife are some of nicest and most dedicated people that you could ever know... and yes, they are native Texans who know what they are doing when it comes to BBQ. These neagative reviews, I suspect are from the desperate competition. I highly recommend this fine place.

MY REVIEW: I wasn't too crazy about this place. The food was kind of bland and the portions were small. You have to pay extra for condiments and you eat off of paper. I live close by, but I won't be going back.

MY REVIEW: I am a native Houstonian with a lot of years (and a lot of barbecue) on me, from the original Matt G*arner's to the present. This is the BEST brisket in town. Smoked over post oak, traditional to Houston. This meat has the perfect moist crustiness outside, fall-apart center, and rich smoky flavor. The sausage is classically homemade, Czech style, crumbly, smoky in all it's glory. And yes, it falls apart - it's supposed to - it's not a hot dog.
Only shortcoming is the sauce - NOT a classic Texas sauce, and the meat deserves better. Just eat it sauce-less, and enjoy.

MY REVIEW: The ribs are very meaty, but very greasy. And no matter how much brown butcher paper they wrap them in, they leak through the bag. Watch out arteries.
And, for the price you pay for a slab of ribs (which I usually get), they should at least give you a medium side item of your choice.

MY REVIEW: Best BBQ in Houston and I've tried a bunch of them including O*tos and Go*de. My wife loves the chopped beef, ribs, and chicken. I'm a fan of the brisket, ribs, and sausage. Everyone I've taken there has become a regular customer. I stock their sauce at home and use on my own BBQ as well as other meats. I also send it as a gift to good friends.
People are very particular about BBQ in this state so I'm not surprised to see some negative reviews. All I can say is I won't eat anywhere else if I can eat at Houston BBQ.
I don't understand the complaints about cigarette smoke as I have eaten there a ton of times and never had the problems other reviewers had. My wife has asthma and she has never complained.
A big bonus is that Kurt and his staff are as nice a group of people as you will ever meet. I prefer to support a family owned and operated business instead of a nameless corporate giant with replaceable parts.

MY REVIEW: The sauce was bad. The sausage just broke apart into pieces. The turkey was processed meat. But the brisket was REALLY good. The sides were OK.

MY REVIEW: I had the chopped beef barbeque sandwich with beans and potato salad. It was a bit more costly than other barbeque places (around $10). However, it was pretty good barbeque. Warning: do not sit near the bar area if you are not a smoker or allergic to smoke (obvious?). Nice barbeque place, though, and good (very good, though, not unusually good) food on Eldridge!

MY REVIEW: My husband and I had dinner at Houston Barbecue tonight and what a treat! I had the chicken and my husband had the brisket. My chicken was so tender and flavorful, I hardly used barbeque sauce because I didn't want to hide the flavor. My husband said his brisket was tender, trim and moist. We had the potato salad and coleslaw and both were delicious. The service was friendly and fast and we will certainly be coming back for another great dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant.

MY REVIEW: Great location for the Energy Corridor. Sometimes has a parking problem so go early for lunch. Happy Hour prices can be beat. BBQ is just melt in your mouth wonderful. Try the ribs and brisket if you haven't already. It will make a believer out of you. The owners deserve much success. They are there most of the time.

MY REVIEW: Great location and excellent meal. I had the brisket and ribs. You can tell this meat was prepared with care and slow cooked. All side orders were very good. I think they make them there daily. I will definately return for future visits. Highly recommeded -- You must try!

MY REVIEW: I loved the atmosphere. I must say it was the best BBQ I have ever had. The patatoe salad was GREAT along with the smoked turkey. Their sauce was different but a good different. I bought a bottle and the family loved it as well. Must give Houston Barbecue Company 2 thumbs up!!! Keep up the good work!

MY REVIEW: Our first visit. I wasn't impressed. Chopped beef on a bun came out as somewhat mushy roast beef. Didn't recognize it as barbecue. Sauce was in little bottles on the tables. Unimpressive potato salad. I think it came from Sam's in a 50-gallon drum. Paper plates. Extra charge for pickles. Very smokey from the bar. When we got home, out clothes smelled like cigarette smoke. Now that I've given it a try, won't have to do THAT again.

MY REVIEW: Probably the best BBQ in Houston. Learned about this place when they catered a party at the bosses house. Everyone was impressed and now are regular customers. Give them a try.

MY REVIEW: Ribs and brisket real tender and not much fat, but tasted just like roast. No smoke flavor. Tasted like meat cooked in an oven, not in a pit. No more barbeque restaurants for me unlesss they claim 'real pit barbeque'. The sauce was different, real mustardy.

MY REVIEW: I don't even think this is the best BBQ restaurant on Eldridge, let alone Houston. Best in the state, c'mon, there are other restaurants besides L*thers and G*bby's at Astroworld.
