Not crowded. We were sitted quickly. After 5 + minutes a Server named Brian K. came to the table. Ask for drink order and offered Queso & Chips. We ordered Tea and Water. After again 5 + minutes someone other than Brian K. served the Appetizer. Still no drinks. Brian K. returned sometime later and took our menus off the table. Still no drinks. He returns and ask if ready? Ready for what I wonder. We say that we would like our drinks. He states "oh" and leaves the table again. Finally he returns with our drinks and then take our order. One plate is chicken fried steak with potatoes/corn/gravy. Was not ask if wanted salad/bread etc...Other order was Chicken Tortilla Soup. Brian K. did not ever ask if we wanted refill on drinks. I clearly drank all my water early on and not sure about my husband at this point. He gets up and leaves after finishing his meal. We have eaten here several times this past year and have yet to have a good experience with the service. The Cheddar's in Longview Texas is great food and great service/Staff. Our servers have all been excellent with only a couple very small mistakes. The other people who write these reviews must not understand what it is like to be waiting tables in a very busy restaurant. The food is great with pricing to match. The only thing is the hostesses, they are terrible. The last time my boyfriend and I went, the hostesses sat three other two person parties before us, that had gotten there after us. So except needing to hire a whole new host team, it is a very nice place to eat. The wait was about 10-15 mins...not bad. The hostess shows us to the table which was dirty as was th booth seats.(crumbs) She seemed bothered that I asked that she have someone to wipe them before we were seated. The waiter greeted & brought our drinks promply but the delivery of the food was not as prompt. We waited at least 25 mins before our 3 orders arrived. One of which was not correct. Ordered fried catfish but was brought grilled. The portions and quality of the food is great for the cost but the service sucks. Although the waiter was polite he was not a good waiter. I agree with the many of the previous comments regarding the hostesses and the waiters. They need to be reminded this they're in the service industry and courtesy and attention to the customers should be one of their top priorities not what happened before they got to work that day. We normally enjoy the same lunch on Sundays after church around 1130, but today the silverware was dirty, the restrooms appeared not to have been cleaned since last night, and the salad also looked like it was left over from last night. When I got home and compared the bill with a receipt from last month for the exact same items and the bill, before gaturity was $3.33 more than last time. Had a wonderful waiter, Frank, who made our experience so great we decided to go back weekly for a while. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. I have had good and bad waitstaff, but that should be expected. The restaurant is usually crowded, therefore that would mean a wait, but why is it crowded? Because the food is good! If I don't feel like waiting, I will go at an off hour and that works out better. I love Cheddar's. I can't imagine what all the complaining is about. I have had only 1 bad experience as far as service is concerned, and none concerning the food. Cheddar's is probably one of the most popular places in this area, which is obvious given the crowds. It is not the place to go if you are looking for an elegant dining experience, or one that is noise free. But, if you are looking for great food at very reasonable prices, I would highly recommend it. We had been to the chain location in College Station, and had vague positive memories - we figured we were safe. When we first got there, we were worried because the parking lot was packed. I was sure we would be in for a long wait. But, to my surprise, we were seated immediately after walking in. Things were looking up. However, we got to the table and it was butchered with graffiti on it - the seats had seen better days. Honestly, the decor was more "hole in the wall" than I had expected. We looked at the menu and waited for the server to come over and take our drink order. And, we waited. And, we waited. It was bad enough (and we saw so little on the menu) that we gave serious thought to leaving. After about 10-15 minutes, the server came over and introduced himself. The server was very personable and apologized for the delay. Things were looking up again. Then the food came. I had memories that Cheddar's was a step above Chil*s, but in reality, it was a step above Bla*k Eyed Pea level. Way too much dressing on the salad, and the ribs just weren't enjoyable. My wife really enjoyed her buffalo chicken fingers though. I'm sure there was something better that I could have ordered, but I obviously missed it. I won't be going back to try again. But, the experience was quite pleasant. I can imagine it gets busy, because we ate an early dinner (about 6pm) and there was already a 35 minute wait. It was also a bit noisy because the restaurant was full. But, wait and noise aside, the food was fantastic and cheap, with a lot to choose from. Our waiter was efficient without being clingy or rushing us. We decided we wanted the cookie monster for dessert. Excellent! I recommend trying it. However, if you do, notify your server when he brings the dinners to start it for you. It's a freshly prepared chocolate chip cookie, so it takes about 15 minutes. But it's well worth the wait. The food was really good, and I hope to be back. Hopefully, the lines will eventually get a little shorter. The things people pick apart at a restaurant are astonishing. Would you go into a department store and expect someone to do everything for you, or control the fact that the lines are long? Absolutley not. The food is fantastic the prices are exceptional, and the sevice is prompt and friendly. The managers shake my hand and converse with my family and I everytime we enter the building, especially Stephen, he is wonderful. Sure the hostesses need to work on their attitudes, but they are sixteen year old girls. The Dijon Chicken is amazing, and the steaks are tender and juicy. I walked in at 5:00pm and the restaurant was amlost empty but swarming with waitresses and waiters coming in and out of the parking lot. I sat for 12 minutes before anyone noticed me and finally I ordered a soft drink and a salad. I received my soda 5 minutes later and my salad 25 minutes after that. I had to ask for silverware. The waiters and waitresses seem much more interested in what is happening in the parking lot and talking to each other serving the patrons... I gave the waiter my credit card the minute I received my salad and he did not being it back to me for 10 more minutes and he was not waiting on any other tables. HORRIBLE SERVICE..
