MY REVIEW: We went there on our last night of a week long stay at Crystal Beach. I wish we'd have gone there on the first night as we'd have gone back several times.
They sell fresh seafood there as well so their menu prices are very good. We started with a calamari appetizer which was not the best I've every had, but still pretty good.
My wife had Crab Augratin which was super rich! My daughter and her friend split the fried seafood platter and said everything was very good.
The kids menu actually had some good seafood on it. My son had the Crabby patty, which he didn't care for (10 years) old. I tried it and it was actually a very good crab cake on a bun. He's only just now starting to appreciate grown up food. lol
I had the lg order of BBQ crab - a first for me. They were very good and plentiful. The only downside was it takes a while to eat and the rest of my family was done long before I was. This is one to get if you've got lots of time.
We were heading home from there so no drinks, but the atmosphere was great and I would like to go back when I have more time for drinks and to just hang out.
Oh, about the wait. It was a Saturday night and they were full at 7pm. They said it was a 1.5 hour wait, but it looked like there were not that many people waiting. We waited on the outside deck upstairs for about 10 minutes before they came and took us to our table.
Don't miss it if you are on Bolivar.

MY REVIEW: Great place to hang out for awesome seafood and drinks. The jerk shrimp is the best! Oysters on the half shell were delicious. The restaurant upstairs has a casual laid-back atmosphere with great service. The bar called "Down Under" which is literally down under the restaurant is a fun place to hang out, especially on Friday and Saturday nights during the summer when "Huff" does karaoke. Definitely worth the drive.

MY REVIEW: Well, we went to Stingaree on the weight of the reviews on this site. We drove there from Humble by way of our favorite veggie stand at one of the Anahuac exits on I-10. Always a pleasant drive. Anyway, we arrived right before rush hour on the warmest day of the year so far. When we went into the main dining room, we were instantly aware of how hot it was in there. My husband immediately broke into a sweat. I was OK, but handle the heat better than he. I cannot imagine what the place is like in the summer! We were seated promptly and greeted by our waitress who was also visibly suffering from the heat. We ordered a beer for the hub and a Stingarita for me. The beer arrived cold and the Stingarita arrived small. For 4.50 I want a little bit more than a juice glass full. The drink was tasty though and did contain enough tequila for you to notice. We ordered boudin balls to start and they arrived about 15 seconds before our main courses. The boudin balls were tasty, the best I've had in a while. My hub got the shrimp and catfish, which he said were good as well. I had coconut shrimp, which were OK, which were served with a HORRIBLE NASTY STORE BOUGHT so called mango habanero sauce. OMG, it was awful. The sad thing was, after stopping at the fruit stand in Anahuac I could have gone out to the car and whipped up a mango and jalapeno sauce to die for. This sauce looked like a cheap duck sauce you can buy at the local grocery store and tasted that good. Can you tell I was appalled by the sauce?
Overall the visit to Stingaree's was OK. I would not tell you to stay away, but I would tell you to get there early; it was packed when we left at 6:15 pm. I would also tell you to stay away from the coconut shrimp (that Aussie steak house does it better). The staff there are nice, and the view is fun, wiht the barges and pleasure craft going by. However, I will say that for me, I can drive over to the place by the San Jacinto monument and get just as good, if not better food and not have to drive as far. If you're down on the east side of the Bolivar peninsula, go otherwise, don't make the drive. Go somewhere closer to home.

MY REVIEW: This place is GREAT! They have the BEST fried oysters of ANY PLACE I've been to in Southeast Texas!! AWESOME!!! Took my boyfriend today for lunch. He had the BBQ crabs, I have to admit while they were okay, they could've been better--you could hardly tell there was any seasoning at all. Wish they'd been more like the ones they serve at 'The R*eef' in Texas City. The vieno fried crab had no seasoning whatever that we could tell.
I'll keep coming back for the oysters and if you guys will add more BBQ seasoning to the crabs you'll have us down there all the time!! LOL

MY REVIEW: Actually have been here more than 6 times but everyone does not know my name. Always enjoy this restaurant. A must visit for guests. Casual and comfi. Have never had a bad dinner here. But my last visit took 1 and 1/2 hours to receive out food 2 sea food platters 1 fried 1 broiled, I can only imagine how good they would have been if served above room temp.

MY REVIEW: We went to Stingaree on a recommendation. We were very pleasantly surprised. It was very good seafood for very reasonable prices. I had the Stig Platter (various shrimp, fish, crab) and my date had the fried seafood platter. Both were very good. The crabs were a little on the small side, but everything else was great. The fish in the Stig Platter was so soft and flaky, it almost melted in my mouth. It fills up quickly. I would recommend going somewhat early on weekend evenings. Definitely worth the drive.

MY REVIEW: Our friends forced us to go with them across the ferry and to this little dive called Stingarees. (Mostly because of the Stingarita reputation). Well, I'm glad they did! The most fun we have had in a long time. Going early January, no crowds! The weather was perfect for our two six year olds and they loved skipping rocks on the bank of the channel....which we saw many barges slowly go by and wave at us with a smile. The food was good. I got the crabmeat augraten and tasted everyone elses meal. My favorite was probably the augraten, the gumbo was excellent (had a kick to it), and the kids just loved their frozen lemonade and banana drinks. The crabs seemed a litty mushy, but all-in-all a great experience. Be sure and bring your cameras for the sunset!

MY REVIEW: Eat here every chance you get, but make sure to visit during an "R" month, when they have AYCE oysters fixed eight incredible ways. The oysters are small and fresh enough to have been plucked out of the water right by the restaurant. You'll have to be rolled out the door and will bump all the way down the stairs, but every bounce will be worth it. The servers, who are wonderful, skilled hands, are used to it.
In the months without an "R", sample everything else on the menu. Even then, you won't be able to select a favorite, so just keep eating.
The nice thing is the prices are so reasonable, you can keep coming again and again.
The only thing I've had that wasn't incredible is the iced tea, which is always just about like slightly tinged water. That's no big thing. I want to save space for all the good seafood, not fill up with tea.
The sunsets are a perfect way to end the meal.
Now if that darned ferry wait weren't so long. Well, better get an extra order to go.

MY REVIEW: Love the out of the way setting, best at just before sundown. Great staff the make you feel like a member of your family. Their seafood is always fresh and prepared just right. My favorite, can't name just one, is their fried seafood platter, their stuffed flounder is to die for. Gumbo great, grilled snapper wonderful, crab meet sauted in butter WOW. For desserts, my favorite is their bread pudding with bourbon. key lime pie wonderful. My wife and I love to sit looking out over the water watching the birds and boats go by. If it were any closer to Houston I would go every day. Have never had a bad experience while eating there.

MY REVIEW: Worth the trip! Best fried crabs in Texas. Wonderful rustic atmosphere, right on the water. Why would anyone eat at Joe's Crab Shack in Galveston when they could ride the ferry over to Bolivar and eat at this place? Staff is great too - they know you're from out-of-town, but they treat you like locals. Be prepared to wait on a weekend night - place is packed, but there's a fun little bar downstairs and you can also drink on the docks.
