MY REVIEW: It was a pleasant Sunday evening so we headed to M*editerraneo's to enjoy outdoor dining. But they were closed, and remembering Mediterranean Chef has a small patio area, we went there. It's been several years since we were last there, so I'm counting this as the 1st visit. Their patio is not as large as M*editerraneo's, and the menu is smaller too. But Mediterranean Chef puts out some very tasty food.
We tried several appetisers in order to sample a variety. We really enjoyed the hummus, baba ganoush and excellent pita bread. Also very good were spinach pie, kibbi and falafel. We in the Bay Area are fortunate to have several good Middle Eastern/Greek restaurants. Mediterranean Chef may be the best of the lot based on the 5-6 things we tried.

MY REVIEW: We had been to this location before the remodel, and really enjoyed our visits. But, since the remodel, it's difficult to go and have a nice quiet dinner. They got rid of the quaint "old world" feel that the restaurant used to have. Now, it's a sterile, open room concept, which fosters an atmosphere for lots of noise. There are no soft surfaces, so all of the noises echo around you. I couldn't hear my server or my date. It's just such a drastic change from what the restaurant used to be. The service and food quality have seemed to slip a little as well. Our meals weren't nearly as fresh and flavorful as they had been in the past, and our server acted as if she didn't know what was going on. I don't think I'll be back to this location until they get the noise issue under control. There's other good Greek food on the island, so this restaurant is definitely replaceable. There are times and places for the "happy hour" mentality, but this restaurant shouldn't be one of them. It's a shame, because it used to be a charming little place.

MY REVIEW: The food was fine. BUT, only one of the couples were allowed to use their ENTERTAINMENT CARD. We have been going out in groups for over 4 years all over Harris and Galveston Counties, and this is the first place who has given this restriction. They did NOT have a disclaimer sign on their door, their counter, their menu or in the Entertainment Book that only one card could be used per table. It put a huge damper on our friend's 71st birthday. Each couple were paying their own bill, so it's not as if we were trying to use dual discounts or promotions per bill. BE WARNED that this restaurant has this restriction.

MY REVIEW: We started with baba ganoush and pita bread, both of which are made on premises, and I've never had better of either--or fresher pita bread! The Greek salad was perfect in every way: truly excellent feta cheese; and I haven't tasted yummier moussaka in over 20 years. We were also impressed with the family's courteous--yet not hovering--attentiveness. We will definitely be returning! For one thing, we haven't yet tried the baklava! :)

MY REVIEW: I thought the food here was pretty good. My partner thought the falafel was excellent and gave this place 2 thumbs up- I give it one thumb up. The atmosphere is very nice and much better than wading through the crowds at Ni*ko Ni*ko's. It's a shame they don't tiropitas here though.

MY REVIEW: Well after reading the reviews here and wanting to try something new in the area, we tried Med. Chef. We were very disappointed - words like 'average' come to mind. The hummus was good but the pita bread was like previously frozen cardboard. But at least they give you a lot of the cardboard! The greek salad was just iceberg lettuce with a feta cheese that actually had no taste whatsoever. The two of us had 2 different types of kebob plates. They were reasonable and somewhat tasty though the rice was completely bland. We should have known when it was Friday evening dinner time and we and one other couple were the only ones in there. C*afe Petra and M*editerraneo are much better if you want good greek food in the area.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening and the food was good. We had the falafel plate and chicken shishkebob. Both were cooked and seasoned well, service was prompt and courteous, portions were adequate, and the price was OK considering we were on the Strand. My only tiny complaint was that the waiter, when taking our drink orders, offered us a glass of their good, Lebanese wine rather than the customary house wine. I quickly checked the wine list and realized that the Lebanese wine was $8 a glass. If that is what you want then fine, but I had him instead bring a glass of their house cabernet, about half the price, and it was very good. Just beware:-)
We ate outside so I can't comment much on the ambiance. But I did go inside to pay and it is nice enough. We did not have dessert.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten here twice and it is a great restaurant with good service and the atmosphere is casual but romantic the restaurant is usually not crowded and there is an area for eating outside if weather permits. The gyros are great and for only 8.99 you get a salad with feta cheese and kalamata olives, grilled potatoes and a gyro. I will continue eating there every chance I get.

MY REVIEW: This is our favorite eatery in Galveston, ever since we discovered them on the Galveston Fun Map`. Not only is the food great, but it's cheap and service is fast and friendly. I stay within a few items each time because I don't like most Greek foods. I get 2 of any of these 4: spinach pie, hummus, gyro, greek salad - it's always consistently good. My husband tries new things each time and he loves everything he gets. Also I get their desserts. I don't know their names but they're those little Mediterranean nut pastries - rich, fresh, wonderful.

MY REVIEW: Our favorite Greek restaurant, and favorite place for a quick, but elegant lunch. Very bright and elegant, though small and a little tight. The service is friendly and warm. Great gyros. Wonderful Turkish coffee. The desserts are huge and delicious. The best hummus and tabouleh in town.

MY REVIEW: I had to drive down to Clear Lake Sunday afternoon, and somehow spotted this place. "Greek, why not a quick inexpensive lunch", so I made a U-turn at Johnson Space Center. When entering I thought this is going to be a little more than the "quick lunch" I am use to. Tables had linens on them, wines were nicely displayed on the back wall, all with a very clean decor. I ordered the gyro sandwhich plate, with the "real potatoes" as the waitress called them. Though it was fairly crowded my salad came out within 5 minutes. There was a mild dressing on it that worked great with the standard Greek salad vegatables and feta cheese. Lunch arrived just as I was finishing my salad. It came on a plate with silverware, instead of the styrofoam and plastic I am used to when I go for a Greek lunch. I dont think they could have stuffed another piece of gyro meat into the fresh soft pita bread. The onions and tomatoes were thinly sliced, not the huge cuts you see elsewhere. All was topped with just the right amomt of Tzatziki. The new potatoes were also cut perfect size, and cooked with onions, mild peppers, and spices. I didn't have room for my usual baklava. A great meal for a few cents over $8.00. I have been ruined for Mediterranean food, I live in the near town area and its a pretty long drive. As I was leaving they said "We'll see you next time" and probably right, I will go back.
Great Food, Reasonably Priced, Nice Place!
