Dozier's Grocery & Meat Market
8222 Main St, Fulshear, Texas 77441
MY REVIEW: I hadn't been near Fulshear for years, but, when the opportunity presented itself, I went slightly out of the way to visit Dozier's for a bar-b-que sandwich, and I wasn't disappointed. The beef is still good, lean but tender, and plenty is put on a sandwich! I wasn't crazy about the potato salad, but was happy enough with the beef and sauce to take a pound home. The smoked beef "slim-jims" packaged at the meat counter were good too--not greasy, and with a slight kick. In fact, everything at the meat counter, from peppered summer sausage to turkey jerky was very tempting.

MY REVIEW: I absolutely agree with rexster314. For 25 years, I used to travel to Fulshear for Dozier's sausage plate, and take some back home, too. Its unique taste and texture had me hooked. Well, not anymore. The sausage is now "commercialized" and awful. The rest - beef, etc. still is great.

MY REVIEW: Dozier's was one of the best for BBQ onsite. We always got extra meat & sausages for later. The last time was the last for the sausages, someone else is making them or they've changed the recipes cause it tastes like Eckrich now. Different texture of meat, different casings (not natural anymore) Don't waste your time on them at all. BBQ beef and chicken still worth a trip tho'

MY REVIEW: Wow, remember going here as a young girl about 30 years ago! The place still offers wondeful bbq and the sausage and bacon (to take home from the butcher counter) are even better than I remember!!! Try both the regular and pepper bacon! Thick and juicy, they almost taste like canadian bacon once they're fried-up! A great place to eat lunch before going to the Brookwood Community about 5 minutes down the road.

MY REVIEW: Best BBQ ever, the meat has a lot of flavor. Do not go if you're looking for some fancy seating, this is a convinience/restaurant kind of place.
I highly recommend it.

MY REVIEW: Great BBQ and the jerkey is the best around. Try the hot turkey jerkey. Good stuff. Mr. Evans runs a nice operation.

MY REVIEW: Don't overlook Dozier's for catering. My daughter wanted to serve her Yankee relatives bar=b=que at her wedding reception. Dozier's did the trick. Excellent service. They didn't mind coming in to Meyerland in Houston and were as nice as can be.

MY REVIEW: Excellent beef brisket and friendly people. We are new to the Katy area and have been sampling fare at many restaurants.

MY REVIEW: Everything about Dozier's is fantastic. I'm tempted to say it's a little too far if you're suddenly in the mood, but even that is part of its charm.
The best BBQ I've ever tasted in Texas is at Cooper's in Llano, but since you can't drive 4.5 hours whenever you want BBQ, Dozier's is certainly worth the mileage. All those Richmond-area people who swear by [another bbq place] are just disillusioned... Dozier's beats out anything in the area by a wide margin.
They don't load the meat down with anything. A lot of BBQ places marinate in a hodge-podge of liquids, grind spices into everything, then stick it in a pit. This is good old, plain, flavorful meat. The sauce rocks.
They're primarily a grocery store, so their hours are a little off of what a restaurant would usually keep. It's a local call, so just call first.

MY REVIEW: An old country store with a meat market that processes meat, makes its own sausage, smokes meats, and sells BBQ from the meat counter. Everything from the sausage rollup (piece of white bread with a delicious piece of sausage link and sauce for under two dollars) to the sliced brisket is fantastic. Nothing fancy here. The brisket has a wonderful smoked flavor and is juicy and tender. The sausage is homemade and not greasy. Prices are very reasonable. Saturdays get crowded as bikers and countryside sightseers hit this place with regularity. Its located straight out Westheimer, approximately 15 miles west of Hwy 6. Turn right on 359 and its two blocks on the left. You can eat inside or sit under the trees outside on the side of the store. I nominate this place for the BEST Bar B Que in and around Houston!
