Kasra Persian Grill

MY REVIEW: Out of town family members were here for Thanksgiving and nothing says Thanksgiving like Persian food, right?!! In any event, we checked out Kasra on a Saturday night and, while there was a full house, they handled the crowd effectively and we were seated within 15 to 20 minutes. The wait staff was extremely attentive without being overbearing. Our waiter explained the menu and made specific recommendations.
While waiting on our entrees, we got the hummus and their house bread and both appeared very quickly. Both were excellent.
I can't recall what items we all got but everyone was pleased with their choices. Their different rice offerings were exceptional. Very fluffy. I didn't see anything on the menu that was more than $12 or $13 and most were on the order of $9 and the serving sizes were generous.
We will be back for sure as the combination of great food, attentive staff and reasonable prices really impressed our group.

MY REVIEW: This Saturday evening was the busiest I have ever seen Kasra. But the waitstaff is very experienced and the 2 owners (I assume) were on the floor constantly making certain that empty tables were cleaned immediately so customers didn't wait for long to be seated. Everything flowed like a well oiled machine. Good job! And the kitchen kept pace as well.
Michy is right, this kitchen deserves its praises. I have never had a bad meal here. Never a tough piece of meat--these cooks have no equals when it comes to grilling meats. The same can be said about those who prepare those bread rounds. Sour cherry rice is my favorite, but dill is a close second.
This is my favorite retaurant in Houston. To the reviewer who recently posted that he wouldn't be in a hurry to return, I say perhaps you should try the grilled meats such as chicken sultani or beef sultani plates. I haven't tried the 2 dishes he talks about, so I can't speak to those complaints. I just know that I have never had grilled meats anywhere as good as Kasra!

MY REVIEW: As you enter there is always the most pleasant man there to greet you. The waitstaff is incredible at service and are very friendly and willing to explain dishes and even suggest things. The place is very clean. The food is outstandingly flavorful. The cooks do not receive enough recognition from the clientele. The prices are perfect. The ambiance is soothing and quiet. Just wish there were one on the North side of town. I have nothing bad or negative to say about this place or the people who work there. GO GO GO.

MY REVIEW: We went last Saturday night. Long wait (approx 30+ minutes) with no real place to wait. Once seated, we were waited on promptly and attentively. Ordered hummus and it was on the table with warm bread in (I am not joking) 30 seconds. That being said, it was delicious - creamy w nice undertones of garlic and lemon and served with fresh basil, mint, feta and radishes. For entrees we ordered Lamb Shank, which was tasty but very fatty and Gheymeh, a beef/lentil stew with dried lemons. The Gheymeh had relatively little flavor and the smell was almost foul (though it didn't taste foul). I normally finish my entrees but couldn't get through this one. I felt like we were being rushed through once seated, while obviously Persian families lingered over large tables for the entire evening. We are not rushing back.

MY REVIEW: This has got to be by far one of the best restaurants in all of Houston, not only does this restaurant score high on their food but the service and overall atmosphere is great. I first started coming here about a couple of years ago and it has since become a favorite of mine and over these years the experience of eating here has remained pleasingly consistent.
To be honest, there is nothing on the menu that isn't great.. but I'd say their specialty is their beef soltani and their rice.. it is good enough to knock even the most seasoned taste buds off their feet. It is impossible to go wrong here, everything is delicious. The only thing that I would say is kind of a drawback about this place is the lack of desserts, but by the time you are done eating I don't think it really matters because of the generous portions in the meals.
This is a rare gem when it comes to fine restaurants, it's not something I would pass up; it doesn't matter if you are a lover of Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine or if you are looking for a new experience and have never tried anything like it, no matter what you're situation is you will be pleased with this place.
I'd give it five stars out of five, it is one of the best by a long-shot.

MY REVIEW: Love this place, but the problem I have is that I keep on ordering the same thing. The Soltani platter is so good that I'm not branching out to the other food offered at this wonderful Persian restaurant. Can't seem to get enough of the beef kubideh and barg. And the basmati rice with sour cherries is a must have.
But my next visit I have promised myself that I will order Khorake Bademjan, lamb shank in tomato sauce, onions, sour grapes with side of fried eggplant. Can't wait!
As always, service was impeccable---have never experienced bad service at Kasra.

MY REVIEW: We first discovered this little gem when I accompanied my boyfriend to Houston for a business trip from Dallas several months ago. Since then we have been back once this past weekend, and we will be back again=) My boyfriend is Iranian, and we were looking for a good Persian restaurant to have dinner. I did a little research online and found Kasra Persian Grill.
I cannot tell you how happy we were to find this place! The beef kubideh is the best i've ever had. My boyfriend had the Sultani with the dill rice. Everything we've ordered there has been great. When you first sit down they give you sabzi(herbs) with feta and that delicious homemade bread. My only complaint is they don't have a very big selection for dessert, other than Baklava. Our server Ali last weekend was also fantastic! I highly recommend Kasra Persian Grill for some of the best Persian food you've ever had.

MY REVIEW: Pros: Food, Ambiance, Menu
I always go for lunch, not sure about dinner service. Anyway, the ambiance at Kasra is nice and comfortable, and the food is always great and consistently very well prepared. The Zereshk Polo (barberry rice) is always done perfectly, I haven't even come close to that at home: they get it juicy, and they're not stingy with it either like some other persian restaurants, you get quite a bit.
The Beef Kubideh is awesome, and the Chicken in Tomato Sauce with Zereshk Polo is great, too. If you go for a "regular" dish, I recommend trying out the various specialty rices, it only costs a little more.
The Hummus is the best in town, in my opinion: creamy and tasty, but not runny. Go for the daily lunch special and you get a small side of hummus, great value (although prices went up about a year or so ago). Still, overall bang for the buck is 8 out of 10.
The Sabzi and Taftoon (fresh all the time) are a meal in itself, be careful not to stuff yourself with that.
The menu isn't super long, but has a good cross section of persian foods.
I've only had dessert here on occasion, usually because I'm superstuffed by the time I'm done with the maincourse, and I am a big eater. Most people can probably take home their leftovers for another meal.
9 out of 10 times, service is very good: Swift, friendly, professional and attentive without being annoyingly hovering over you. The place can get quite full for lunch, but they've added more tables some time ago, and we never have a problem finding a table now.

MY REVIEW: The atmosphere was very nice and even though it was a Saturday night, my companion and I were able to get a nice window table. The service was good, but the waiter seemed a little off kilter, sometimes providing excellent service and then disappearing when we needed him.
The food was very good and though it was my first time eating at a Persian restaurant, I enjoyed the meal. I like the fact that it's a nice relaxed place where families are abundant. She and I had a very nice night, but I'd like to be a little more adventurous and will try the lamb next time.

MY REVIEW: went at lunch time and its packed. definitely needs reservations. All our food was great, esp. the koubidehs. the complimentary naan were good as well.
The waiter seemed to be in a hurry though. He kept on coming back again and again to check if we're done, even though the restaurant was half empty by that time.
and then he brought us boxes and check w/o even us asking him.
i'd def recommend for a great persian food and the ambiance.

MY REVIEW: I have yet to find better tasting persian food then Kasra....the food quality is very good...I'll keep going and try different dishes when I go....the taftoon (flat bread) is very good with the hummus.
Only thing negative I would say is that last two time I have gone we got the same waiter, and the service was ok...like he would disappear and we would have to look for him to get some water, or drink.....I had to ask several times to get some hot tea after my meal....the service is ok, but I think like the great food they have, it would be perfect place if they had great service with it too.
But, I'll still keep going there for the great tasting food....

MY REVIEW: We absolutely love Kasra! The food is outstanding and the waitress always remembers us. The atmosphere is very inviting for couples or families. Portions are generous, everything is always fresh, staff is so friendly and the owner greets us every time. I love the sour cherry rice. I've never had anything on the menu that was not delicious and the prices are quite reasonable.

MY REVIEW: Strong Points:
The food is reasonably priced, delicious, and plentiful. The variety is great too- several kinds of stews and rices in addition to chicken and beef kabob.
Our family loves to order food to go from Kasra for dinner parties.

MY REVIEW: My husband, two growing boys (13 & 10), and I went to Kasra this evening. I found Kasra on a different search engine where the food got rave reviews, but said the service was poor. We got there about 5:45 on a Saturday evening and went prepared for good food with lousy service in a sparse restaurant. My love for hummus overran my fears.
Not one of the bad reviews I read was true. The restaurant was nicely decorated and our server, Farzad, was attentive and prompt. The food was outstanding and and reasonably priced. The hummus was better than imagined. I took some home for later. Everything was delicious. Please make the trip to Kasra. We live in the NASA area but will be back soon. I am writing reviews on as many search engines as possible to get the word out. GO!!!
