MY REVIEW: Since "Mainframe" considers Yang Sing only adequate at best, I wonder what Chinese buffets he/she considers "Great"? I frequent Yank Sings, China B*order on the 290 feeder south of 34th, Oriental V*illage near Tidwell and 290, K*ing Garden at Long Point and Wirt, and O*cean Seafood in the Kroger mall on North Shepherd. Each has dishes that the others do not have. I have no troble finding items that I think are very good at each buffet. Yang Sings strength, I my opinion, is their fish. Baked salmon, a fried white fish, and their basa. I defy anyone to find a better fish at a Chinese buffet than the basa at Yank Sings. And their fresh shrip on ice also rivals the shrimp served at other Chinese buffets. Every buffet has items that one will like and probably some thing one will not like. Get things you like (what a concept).

MY REVIEW: After reading the glowing reviews of Yank Sing, I was looking forward to my lunch there today; however, my lunch was a bit disappointing. This is a standard run-of-the-mill Chinese buffet: not terrible, but not great either. While the egg foo young and fried chicken were pretty good, the fried rice was downright unpleasant. Some of their other dishes also had an odd taste. I will not be returning to Yank Sing anytime soon.

MY REVIEW: Must add the following to my previous review: Lately, in addition to their excellent baked salmon and fried fish, they have had baked or poached basa, a boneless skinless fish from the Mekong River (some is farmed raised) of Vietnam and related to the catfish but much tastier. If this is not the most delicious fish you've ever tasted, I'd be surprised. It is beautifully prepared . . . moist and flakes apart. I'm reluctant to post this, fearing that everyone will find out about it. But I'll consider it my good deed for the month.

MY REVIEW: They don't know my name but I go there as often as I can - I have been going there for at least 5 years or more. I LOVE their food!!! It is always fresh and the waitresses make sure that your glass stays full and take your dirty plates as soon as you are done. I especially love the fried cream cheese puffs with their sweet & sour sauce, their fried rice is the BEST I have EVER eaten & my favorite is the sesame chicken! I have yet to find something that I was not happy with. Keep up the good work!!!!

I will ALWAYS be a loyal customer and go EVERY chance I get, which my husband & I moved out of Houston, so I don't get to go as often as I like, but you better believe I will go when I can! Wish there was one in Livingston, Tx, we sure could use a good chinese buffet, the one that is there, YUK - EVERYTHING is has a deep yellow tone to it, I went there once - I will NEVER go back!!! Wish Yank Sing was there!!!!!

MY REVIEW: We started going here about 2 months ago. The ladies are ALWAYS happy to see us. They love our baby even when she is acting up. They bring her corn, and hold it off to the side until it cools off just becuase they know how much she loves it.

Talk about some great service! Then the food is great. Always warm, and fresh. Cant beat that! Best fried rice I have EVER had on a buffet!

MY REVIEW: yank sing is my most favorite restaurant for years. the food is always fresh, the cooking staff is constantly restocking the buffet, and the green beans are the best, as is the kung pao, fried shrimp, broccoli, fried chicken, rolls,ribs-oh gosh--the ribs! excellent food and you cant beat the price. the waitress, well, its a buffet, you dont need them anyway if their not too chipper, they only contact when you need a drink refill anyway. five stars ***** for the food.

MY REVIEW: Very popular place. Generally packed at lunch. Dinner time at night is not the time to go to a Chinese buffet. As far as making Marvin's report, some excellent restaurants in town have also been on there. I've always found it to be plenty clean, and I usually eat there once a week. They have cold shrimp on ice for as large a shrimp cocktail as you want, baked salmon, good veggies (broccoli, green beans, squash, mushrooms, etc.), a nice smoked cabbage and pork dish, unlimited refills of your beverage, and lots more. All for $7.55 at lunch, clearly a bargain. Yes, the waitresses sometime seem a bit glum, but they work long hours for little money. They'll take better care of you if you leave them a dollar tip.

MY REVIEW: I had dinner at this restaurant tonight, then, when I came home saw it on Marvin's report on the same night!

Well, I have to say in spite of the report, my dinner experience was pretty good. It is a very inexpensive buffet $5.99 lunch, $6.99 dinner, which was a pleasant surprise. There were a couple of shrimp dishes that were quite enjoyable, and as a previous reviewer had noted there were several chicken dishes, each of which I tried were tasty. The waitstaff could use a refresher in manners, and be reminded that they are serving humans who would like to enjoy a meal. They were rather depressed in demeanor, and kind of tossed the flatware onto the table and slopped the tea refill into my glass before I could defend against it. I had the impression they were operating as if the customers were objects on an assembly line.

All in all it was about average in selection and quality for a Chinese buffet. I may go back as it is convenient to my work location and it is cheap, but I will have diminished expectations. How expensive can it be for an employee to make eye contact or acknowledge that a human has come into thier establishment? Who knows? It might be reflected in the tip.

MY REVIEW: This place is often seen on Marvin's list for unclean or unhealthy conditions. AVOID. The food is dreadfully awful, too.

MY REVIEW: I went at about 6 PM--prime dinner hour--but the table looked picked over. The food looked watery and overcooked. The selection was average. The Egg Foo Yung was very greasy and tasted primarily of chicken fat. The lo mein was nothing more than overcooked spaghetti. The broccoli and green beans were the best things I tried, which isn't saying much.

MY REVIEW: This chineese buffet since last I visited, has the best lemon chicken I've ever tasted in a chineese buffet. And their chicken variety is great. Other than that your typical Chineese buffet. Clean, and typical.
