MY REVIEW: The food at Tepatitlan is really, really good, very fresh, very real - simply prepared and seasoned. Their prices are very real also. When I am in the Heights this is where I want to have lunch or dinner. A must try for everyone.

MY REVIEW: I have lived in or around South Houston all my life and I have never tried this place until now....I WAS REALLY MISSING THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD I HAVE TRIED IN A LONG TIME!!!! I am married to a mexican and have eaten some really good food but this place is by far the best take out i have ever had.
I got the chicken fajita nachos and the to go box was at least 2-3 lbs. This box was so full it barely closed. My co worker brought in beef fajita nachos before I went and his were loaded up also. I was stunned when the price came out to be $7.03 total including tax!! I have talked with several people who have all been very impressed with the food also.

MY REVIEW: I think the locations differ in quality of service and food. The one on N. Main is awesome. Good food, inexepensive, the service is almost too good (they check on you constantly), and everyone is very friendly. Their flour and corn tortillas are fresh and homemade. I highly recommend the Platillo Mexicana if you like chicken fajitas, and the Tampequena if you like a beef version. The tamales are wonderful and huge. And we love their seafood campechana. I haven't had anything bad so far. The ambiance is more like a fast food restaurant with brighly colored hard seat booths, but it's clean and the food is great so we don't mind. Most plates are under $9. So far, it's the best tex mex in the downtown area that won't break your bank account.

MY REVIEW: My husband & I go every sunday the Posole Is the best by far in Houston! We order take out mostly which is really convienient but also sometimes dine in. We've never had a problem with the service. My son loves the quesadilla de fajita, & the prices are really affordable. We definantley get more bang for our buck here! MY REVIEW: I like to think I can sniff out a good Mexican restaurant on sight. And I did so tonight. My general criteria are 1) strange name in Spanish 2) hopefully followed by a number sign. Well this place has several locations around town and definitely scores on the authentic name name.
I got pork tacos al pastor (excellent, with homemade corn tortillas) and a tampiquena plate (good beef skirt steak, good chicken enchilada, good refried beans, good guacamole). Also good red and green sauce. Bill for all this (plenty for two people) was $12. Good value in my mind.
Ordered for takeout and food was up in 5 minutes. I am from south Texas and this place gets my stamp of approval. I WILL be back and the number's going in my cell for future call-ahead orders.

MY REVIEW: The atmosphere was pleasant..But I will never ever eat in this restaraunt again because service sucks!! Our server that waited on us didn't know the menu and when questioned about an item, left and never returned. The food was good though. And I am sad to say the sour cream was like milk only a little thicker, which in my opinion is not how sour cream should look. When we were leaving we tried to express our frustration with the manager and he really didn't care to hear about it. No apologies, no worries. I just think if you want to keep business, you might want to take a look at your employees.

MY REVIEW: Service was slow. The waiter seemed more interested in chatting with some woman at the side door than taking our order. We waited a half hour for our food. There also seemed to be a bit of hostility to my not speaking Spanish when I ordered. I had the Milanese plate. The beans were cold, and in fact resembled formless, tasteless goop. The tortillas were hot, fortunately. The pounded, breaded beef was tough but edible. I expected more for my seven bucks. On the plus side, they serve Sol beer.
All things being equal, I doubt I'll be back.

MY REVIEW: Went here tonight and the service was horrible!! There was 3 other tables besides us and from what I counted, 4 waitresses. We seemed to draw the slow one. We had to flag somebody else down to get refills and the check. Once she took our order, she did not come back. We could see her chatting with other staff.
The food is good and this is the first time we had bad service. Breakfast is excellent here and the prices are wonderful!

MY REVIEW: I had breakfast there one morning. Not busy. Very congenial staff.
Wide selection of Mexican style breakfasts. Don't recall seeing so many choices any where else. More than fairly priced. I had the Ranchero omelette. It came with beans and choice of tacos and picante sauce. I thought it was very good and made for a nice change. Would eat there again when in out to Fry's. Fry's Electronics is across the street.
I was surprised there were only two other tables with customers though.

MY REVIEW: Only two visits so far... I will be going back. So far I have only tried two variations of the enchiladas with red sauce plate. The first time, I tried the chicken version, which was excellent. The second, I tried the beef variation. The chopped up bits of beef had a heavy dose of grisle (sp?) and cartiledge. I won't be trying it again.
I was very pleased with the presentation of each of the plates. They were hot platters filled with four nice sized enchiladas with lovely red sauce and covered in cheese, lettuce and tomato salad, guacamole, and of course, rice and beans. I was just what I had been looking for in terms of quality basic Tex-Mex. The kind I grew up on. The bonus was that it was inexpensive. $5.95 for the plate.
This restaurant also has tamales for sale, either as a plate or just the tamales to go. I think the cashier said they were $1 each. They are not on the menu, you just have to ask.
Now I see why the place is always busy. Even though the neighborhood is largely hispanic, there is little Tex-Mex nearby. There are many other hispanic cultures represented, but I wanted the kind of Tex-Mex I had as a kid. Yumm.

MY REVIEW: This is the BEST taqueria in South Houston. It is always packed. This is the real deal though - not Tex Mex. The salsa and chips are good. Try the caldo de pollo - makes you feel good all over.

MY REVIEW: Sunday was not busy. More staff than clients. Still had to ask for ice tea, etc. Food was hit and miss. Pastor and carnitas were very good. Chicken was some of the worst I have ever had. Chips and salsa were good. I have no interest in going back to Taqueria Tepatitlan at this location. May give some of their other locals a try. REmember Mambo knows food.

MY REVIEW: This is my Fave location. I ate here almost everyday when I went to school down the street from here and have always enjoyed everything. I love the Enchiladas and the Migas for breakfast. They have the best Aguas Frescas(Horchata, limonade, Watermelon, Melon, Tamarindo, Jamaica)and the milkshakes are good too. Definately will continue to go.

MY REVIEW: Authentic mexican food at it's best. Chips and Salsa are automatically brought out to you when you sit down to eat. There is 2 salsa sauces that they bring out to you (Red and Green). Though both of the salsa sauces are good , i specially like the Red hot sauce. It tastes great. I've stopped going to the more expensive Tex-Mex restaurants around because of the cheap but great tasting food there at 902 Federal Road. Don't let the looks of the building misguide you into thinking the food's not good, cause it's great. I really do love it.
