MY REVIEW: I want to tell you how GREAT these people are. I wanted to order for holiday dinner and it was already Tuesday. A very special lady answered the phone and was a God send. I placed my order although very late and she took it with such a great attitude. We have eatten here for 15+ years and every year they get better. It's not olny the food its the GREAT people.

Thank you very much Jean!!!

MY REVIEW: Today, for the first time in 20+ years,I was disapointed with a food item at AAA. Their meatloaf, although tasty, was too greasy to eat. I mentioned it to my waitress and was offered a substitute or have it removed from my ticket. The roast beef substitute was delicious and I left pleased as usual. Never considered this as a failing only a kitchen stumble. Will be in Thursday for short ribs.

MY REVIEW: If you are a youngster wondering what an old-fashioned 1940’s era Texas diner looks like, the Triple A Restaurant is an excellent example.

My wife and I and both mother-in-laws visited Triple A today for lunch. Our birthdates range from the early 1930’s to the late 1950’s and we are all in agreement: this establishment appears to be an actual surviving vintage Texas diner as we remember from many years ago.

The food was a glorious blast from the past. I had the breaded pork chop, my wife had the open face roast beef sandwich, mother-in-law #1 had the chicken and dumplings, and mother-in-law #2 had the chicken fried steak. We shared bites of food with each other and I can truthfully verify that everything was fresh, homemade, and era-authentic.

The laminated menu had an old-fashioned paper insert touting today’s “special of the day”, our waitress called us all “sweetie”, and the check was hand-written. You don’t pay the waitress for your meal; you take her hand-written check to the front counter yourself for payment. All of this was as I remember from the old days.

To make a great experience better, there is an outstanding farmer’s market located a few hundred feet south of Triple A brimming with fresh fruit, vegetables, and other assorted local agricultural goodies.

As you can probably guess, I wholeheartedly recommend Triple A to anyone seeking vintage comfort food and haven from the hectic 21st century world.

MY REVIEW: I like the vegetable plate the best. I've had their chicken fried steak and it is pretty darn good (I'm not much into red meat). Not had the burger or the chicken and dumplings yet. I go every Monday and get the veggie plate (4 choices), to go. I always get 2 helpings of the stewed tomatoes (best I've EVER eaten), one hominy corn (this is new to me and I like it) and one lima bean. Tonight they didn't have hominy, so that sucked, but I did get a steamed (acorn?) squash and it was simple - but very good.

You can't go wrong with this place. I've been going there since I was 11 years old (1975). And if you go in the evening, the owners son is at the register. He's not one for much conversation, but I think he's a nice guy that will always tell you to "Be careful out there".

Priceless.

MY REVIEW: We go here often for the variety and homestyle meals. We enjoy an entree with veggies and here you always have a variety of both every day. Although the bigger crowd is probably around noon we can only go in the evenings but they still have the same selections. Places like this are increasingly rare, privately owned with a style of its own and decent food.

MY REVIEW: Authentic diner, awesome food! All of the veggies are fresh and everything tastes like something my grandmother made. Some of my favorites are chicken & dumplings, chicken fried steak, and their fresh ground burgers.

MY REVIEW: Pros: Prompt seating and service, good home-style food, portions are good size, atmosphere feels like you have stepped back in time. Lunch menu offers variety but is quick and easy.

Cons: Tough neighborhood, but on the rebound.

Comments: Ask for Misty, the short blonde waitress. She provides the best in prompt and courteous service. I eat either breakfast and lunch at Triple-A two to three times a week. I have been there by myself and with large groups. The service and food is always good. And if there is a problem Misty takes care of it right away. Misty is the only waitress I want serving me at Triple-A because she is cheerful, prompt and good at her job.

MY REVIEW: Been going here for many years. Great burger. Parking tight, but the Farmers' Market is close and where you need to go after you eat to walk off the meal and pick up the seasonal goodies.

MY REVIEW: Trucker's Triple AAA Is a cafe with great home cooking! It's been around for more than 50 years..it's family owned and operated and still has the best Cheeseburger in Houston. With the Farmer Market next door you can be sure the veggies and fruit are FRESH! The blue plate specials are always a good selection...meatloaf, liver, chicken and dumplings, beef tips.. all great. When growing up I lived a block off Airline and hung out with the owner daughter, so AAA offers me not only good food but fond memories as well! I make the trip in from Katy once a month just to eat here!

MY REVIEW: We've now been a couple of times but just didn't think it was as special as the reviews here reflect. We went back for the chicken and dumplings and they were OK but I've had better at King B*iscuit and 5*9 Diner. fried chicken was good but probably not as good as The B*arbeque Inn. Fresh veggies and decent food but probably not worth the drive. Our opinion only.

MY REVIEW: I'll start by saying their burgers are excellent. I had the AAA Cheeseburger Special with onion rings (also really good). One coworker had the chicken fried steak and said it was average, another had the spaghetti and meatballs (the daily special) which she said tasted more like chili than spaghetti, and it looked like the spaghetti hadn't been well-drained because the sauce was very watery.

I agree with de Kanter's review below, I don't think the waitresses get "upset" or "cranky" when you order off the menu, telling you that it'll take 20 minutes is simply a statement of fact: the daily special is what's ready to go right now, anything else will have to be cooked.

MY REVIEW: This is truly a one of a kind restaurant!!! The food is ALWAYS wounderful. The service is outstanding. The atmosphere takes you back in time. AAA is family owned and operated. There is alot of history there. You will see it in the pictures on the walls. If you want great southern home cooking and hospitality, you have to try this place.

MY REVIEW: We went to AAA based on the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. We got there early for dinner on a Friday night and there were only 4 other people there. We sat down and were acknowledged promptly. After receiving our menus, we had some difficulty deciding what to get. Everything was tempting. We settled on seafood gumbo (a special) and vegetable soup. We also ordered some Texas Toothpicks and some fries and O-rings. When my husband ordered the toothpicks, the waitress felt obligated to tell us "it's jalapenos". My husband just smiled and said bring it on. Wonder if we looked like "yankies"??

It took a little longer to get our food than you would think it should for soup, but they delivered everything together and the fried foods were just out of the fry-o-lator. They were great. The fies were especialy nice, crispy on the outside, creamy goodness on the inside; just what a good french fry should be. The gumbo was outstanding. My husband says it is the best he's ever had outside of our home. And he's picky. My soup was pretty good. It was a tomato/beef based soup with potato and carrort with a few elbow macaroni. I could have gone with a few peas and corn in it, but it was tasty. Half way through our munch, we ordered greens and received a nice portion of turnip greens. YUM OLA. Very nice. We will definitely go back to this place...I'm planning a Chicken and Dumpling trip in the very near future.

MY REVIEW: Located off the North Loop on Airline next to the Farmer Market you can bet your veggies will be fresh but more than that you can always, always expect a great meal. Nothing fancy, no names you can't pronounce, just good old southern cooking.. Wonderful plate lunches, great burgers, excellent service..

It has a long Houston history and is still owned and operated by the family. Put this one on your must do list and ask about the history.. it is very interesting!

MY REVIEW: You will never have wonder about the cleanliness and freshness of the food at Triple A. Even the cook and prep areas are immaculate at all times. Can't ever go wrong with the vegetables any day of the week. This restaurant is a Houston treasure and very dear to native Houstonians like myself.
