MY REVIEW: Took my wife and kids here after church. We have been wanting to try it so we finally did. I have to say, we were very pleased. The service was some of the best we have had in years, maybe we got lucky, but either way it was nice. The food was hot and fresh and tasted great.
This was our first visit, but will not be our last. I hope it is this good everytime.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I eat at La Escondida frequently and have always had a great experience. We tend to be particular about food and restaurants, so hopefully this is a fair opinion. They serve by far the BEST margaritas in the area, and is often our reason for going. They are strong and only $2 during happy hour ($4 regularly). The quality of services depends on who waits on your table, but it is always friendly. The last time we visited we had incredible service, but the time before was just mediocre. The food is more on the mexican side of tex-mex. Being someone who has eaten tex-mex since the cradle, I really love it. Best bets are tortilla soup, fajitas, and the authentic portion of the menu. I have not been impressed with the seafood items. All in all, its good food, good value, and fantastic margaritas.

MY REVIEW: I visited La Escondida ("The Hidden One") for the first time. The decor was nice and the food was good. For starters, they do bring out the regular chips and salsa but along with it is a black bean dip - it's a nice change of pace from other places. The salsa was pretty good (although I must say, I have yet to find a restaurant in Houston that has better red salsa than Casa O*le). I ordered the El Paso dinner plate which consisted of a chicken enchilada, chicken crispy taco, tamale, chile con queso puff, and rice and beans. Pretty good - standard Tex-mex food but satisfying! My sister has tried the table-side guacamole where they make right at the table but she warned it's alot of guacamole. We didn't order it because I'm allergic to avocados :(
I would reccommend it as a definite option if you're in the area and in the mood for some decent Tex-mex. It's also a good option for a family place - very casual with a friendly staff.

MY REVIEW: WOW! Where do I begin??? The atmosphere was impressive. The service left much to be desired and most important: THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!!! My husband ordered a Taco Salad and was halfway into the salad when he noticed portions of uncooked (pink) ground beef - YUCK! My chicken taco was OKAY, agree with a previous poster about the abundance of "cheese whiz"...what the???? My enchilada and tamale were cold and bland - worst tamale I've EVER had. We were VERY disappointed with this experience and sorry to say we will not be returning.

MY REVIEW: La Escondida has moved! To a beautiful new place in the Rocky Creek shopping center near Lake Olympia Blvd. and Highway 6 in Missouri City. Check out their new menu. And new patio. Same wonderful owners and still the nicest staff in town.

MY REVIEW: I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions for lunch and I have had mixed reviews. I like the black beans bowls with the salsa and chips, and the food tastes okay. I have two complaints. The first is that the lunch menu choices don't have a lot of food for the money (like a single fajita taco), and the second is that they put liquid "cheez" on everything. I've requested it to be left off, just because it always winds up on my cuffs somehow. Last time I was in there some office was having a farewell for someone, and there were fifty people in there, and they were loud. Our party asked to be moved, but it didn't help. Sound echoes too easily in there. A word of advice... order off the regular menu and ask them to leave the cheeeeeez off and you'll get a good meal.

MY REVIEW: La Escondida is excellent! I refer friends and co-workers to this restaurant frequently. My favorite dish is the fajita steak, served on top of grilled onions and covered with their own special cheese. They also have the best homemade salsa in town. I like the restaurant so much that I've used them for catering numerous times and everyone always compliments me on the food. I recommend you try this restaurant. In November, they relocate to a much nicer location on Highway 6 in Missouri City near Lake Olympia parkway.

MY REVIEW: In my personal opinion the best Tex Mex in all of the SW Houston area. (yes. that includes the other joint down the road). Good and friendly service, and the food is great. Have the guacamole..They make it tableside for ya! And the black bean dip and salsa are great! Margaritas can hold there own, but are not the best. Dont be afraid of the location!

MY REVIEW: I met a friend there last night and we had a wonderful meal. The service was very friendly and quick. Our dinner was great. I had the carnitas (a pork dish) and it was delicious. It is served with homemade tortillas that are fabulous. I encourage folks to go whenever I can. I think they have wonderful Mexican food.

The food was very fresh and ample!!I will tell my friends and family all around about the best Mexican food in Stafford!!!!

MY REVIEW: Visited the Escondida on Saturday with a big party for mothers day. Had no problems whatsoever. Service was very good. The guacamole and salsa was very good. I ordered the mixed grill fajitas for two and it was VERY good. The portions were more enough and the fajitas (chicken, beef and shrimp).
I will be returning there soon!

MY REVIEW: The outside appearance is a bit dismal, but the interior is very cozy and inviting. The food is good and fresh. I ordered the shrimp on a skewer on the lunch menu...could the chili con queso come in any smaller? It was in a container the size of a thimble. However, the rest of the meal was in acceptable portions. The waitstaff was horrible, and ruined our experience dining there. We asked for more salsa when our meals were delivered, by some other waiter than the one that took our order. This person disappeared and forgot about our request. We finally flagged down another server, again not our original waiter, and begged for more salsa. Our original waiter finally appeared back at our table when we were finished eating. Too many choices of restaurants in the area to return to this one!
