MY REVIEW: We have been eating there about once every two weeks for about 8 years and the food has been consistently good the entire time! A few months ago, the entire staffing was changed - I guess to move around to different locations - and the service has not been the same since that time. They are not nearly as friendly or efficent, but the food is still great. Today, the cashier stood there, talking on the phone, while we waited (along with several other customers) for what seemed a long time. Then just before the cashier left to run an errand he used some fairly loud profanity in front of all the customers. So we have decided to wait a few weeks before trying this particular location again.

MY REVIEW: I have finally tried Big Daddy's and I love it. I think the food is great and the price is even better. You can not take your entire family to P*appas without breaking the bank! I love the ribs and sausage. I have had friendly service each time that I have been to this location and I will be back!

MY REVIEW: I called in an order of two baked potatoes with meat and one brisket dinner with side orders of mac and cheese and okra. It was ready when I got there 10 minutes later....great service! The baked potatoes were good. They give you little bags of cheese, sour cream, butter, and the meat to add to the potatoe. But, they weren't great, like P*ppas. The potatoes just seemed to be missing something. THe brisket was not very good, very fatty, and an odd taste. The mac and cheese was bland, the fried okra was pretty good. Maybe it was an off day, I might go back to try the sausage.

MY REVIEW: Used the drive through, service equal to fast food service, food was ok but not worth the price. Portions are more than enough, could of been an off day I will give another chance.

MY REVIEW: I actually worked there for a couple of months awhile back. I ate the food there every day almost and never was tired of it. I even wanted it on the days that I was off sometimes. If you go there you should try the ribs they are so tender the meat falls right off the bone unlike many other places I always find the ribs not nears as good. I also like the spicy sausage. As for the sides I don’t care for them to much mainly there vegetables cause they sit in the beans stemmer for a long period of time. I figure you can’t go wrong with potato salad and baked beans. As for the service it is all right considering most of the people are working 12 hour shifts 5 or more days a week and no over time. So the service isn’t bad at all considering the fact.

MY REVIEW: The one glaring weakness of this place that everyone seems to point out is the service. Honestly people, dont go to a fast food (well, kinda) restaraunt where the pay is close to minimum wage and the employees are probably working 8 hour shifts consistently, and expect amazing service. It just doesn't happen. If this was a review for M*cDonalds there would be a lot less bad service complaints despite the fact that the employees there tend to be a lot more frustrating to deal with.

Bottom line, its decent barbecue and at an amazing price, and if you need good service to make your food taste good, then i guess you should go somewhere else. And as far as my personal experience, I've never had an employee actually be rude to me. Of course, they have been sort of dazed and not all there but never rude.

MY REVIEW: I love Big Daddy's BBQ! Each pregnancy that I've had that is what I crave. I've tried other places, G*oode Company, L*uthers, P*appa's, etc and none of them measure up. It is close to home and so convenient to pick up on the way home. Their sauce rocks! We have also had them cater a couple of our employee Christmas parties, and everyone always enjoys the food. The only complaint I have is that their sides are not wonderful. Everything sits in the steamer all day and the corn and carrots seem mushy to me. I usually stick with the fried okra since they cook it up fresh when you order it. We are actually thinking of going there tonight. Their bread is to die for. I make a sandwich out of the brisket and their toasted bread. Thank you Big Daddy's!

MY REVIEW: Ok, first off, yeah, I've been to Big Daddy's a few times. I love their onion rings and they are very convenient to both my home and my work. But, their BBQ is barely adequate. In fact, it is not real smoked BBQ, I believe. Rather, it is most likely cooked in an indoor smoker-type oven, not over wood. The meat IS tender but it really does lack that smoke flavor that takes hours over a low fire to achieve. I'll go back, though. It's ok in a pinch and it is a change from burgers and cold cut sandwiches. And the onion rings are worth the stop by themselves.

MY REVIEW: Big Daddy's is the best BBQ I know of. I have eaten at L*uther's and other of that type of BBQ. Big Daddy's has better food.....better prices....and great people. If you go there on any regular basis they all know you and are ready to serve. The $6 special is the best BBQ bargain out there and tastes great!!! I will recommend Big Daddy's to anyone who asks.

MY REVIEW: I read this post and couldn't agree with it more...I like the BarBqs alot but the service and the way they act toward you is alful...These guys need some personality ...I go there but the staff makes me dread it...

2002 N Fry Rd, Houston, Texas 77084 281.398.1800

MY REVIEW: The BBQ is some of the best in Katy/West Houston. However, the staff would rather be somewhere else...Maybe the owners can change that unless the guy behind the register is the owner. It is like they carry a big chip on their sholders plus a snotty attitude. I'll find another place to eat...Adios Big Daddy's!

MY REVIEW: When I first stepped in I was reminded of places like Luby's. Cafateria style serving, large menu beside the line, tell the guy behind the counter what you like and he dices, cooks and scoops it all for you and then you slide down to beverages and then pay at the end and pick a table. I chose the three meat plate which came with a choice of two sides and two pieces of bread. For my wife, the brisket sandwhich and a side of mac'n'cheese.

MAIN FOOD: The food was very good, especially for the price. I've been to BBQ places that charged more and were skimpier on the portions and this was the first one that I couldn't finish my whole meal and had to box it up. I chose the ham, chicken and brisket. The chicken left some to be desired but was still tasty, the brisket was very good with BBQ sauce poured over it (but if you don't like it poured over they put the sauce on the side), and the ham was delicious. I chose fries and corn for the sides.

SIDES: About the corn and mac'n'cheese: Not the best or even good. The corn was completely plan and is served off the cob and the mac'n'cheese was also lacking in flavor. But the fries were excelent! I'm a big fry guy and don't like them seasoned, just salted and the portions are great for them! I got a reg for my wife which was a good size and I got the large and they were enormous!

ATMOSPHERE: Nice, clean, family style atmosphere. Very hard plastic with booth and regular seating. Easy for cleaning I'd imagine for BBQ lovers can get very messy.

DRINKS: Usual variety of sodas, iced tea, and also beer available. What you'd usually expect.

SERVICE: I called around 11:00 am on a Sunday to find out when they opened and the guy said 11:30 am so I went shopping and got there around 11:40 am to find the hours for Sunday said they began at noon. Disappointed, I walked to the front door with my cell phone poised to call my wife and ask If I should wait and lamely pulled on the door to find it was open! Cheap thrills I know but this impressed me as the "Open" sign wasn't even on. Anyway, the guy behind the counter knew his stuff and while wasn't outgoingly friendly or chatty was amicable and asked the right questions to make sure I would leave happily. Besides I WAS the first customer so he might have still been getting to work mode.

VALUE: Prices range from six or seven dollars to fifteen per person, depending on what you'd like. It's about five or six bux for a bbq brisket burger and fries without a drink. They also advertise a $9.99 in-house buffet which I'm seriously thinking of trying just to sample all their food. Portions are good also as I got more than I thought I would get for my money. Pleasantly surprised.

OVERALL: I would recommend this to any BBQ lover to try, while it's not my absolute favorite, I will continue dining there as the price and food value and flavor is very good and will recommend them to friends and family.

Enjoy!

MY REVIEW: Rude and obnoxious servers are what you'll remember about this place. One time you allow owing to an off day, but conistantly bad service is not acceptable. Ever wonder why there are lines at restaurants with "ok" food...perhaps is a staff that at least makes you feel welcome and not like you are disturbing them.

Never again, too many places with comprable food and price to have to settle for this hateful atmosphere.

MY REVIEW: The food is good, granted that the meats are not smoked in a pit they do taste good. The sauce may be commercal but it good. Good price. Good Brisket PoBoys. Service is ok since it is cafeteria style. Good for a quick BBQ fix. If you want really really good BBQ and willing to pay go to G*oode Company off I-10.

MY REVIEW: Big Daddy's catered my wedding. They were there on time, they were friendly, and all of my guests RAVED about the food. They were even nice enough to have a small side of fried okra just for me (my mom told them how much I love it. They advised her against having it as part of the buffet because it gets cold fast and wouldn't be very tasty) at no charge and called it a "wedding gift for the bride". My father in law is a huge bbq snob and he loved the food, too. I think they were awesome.

MY REVIEW: Whew! what some people will write. Let me set the record straight.

I have eaten at all 3 restaurants regularly. I have hired Big Daddy's to cater my company picnic (over 400 people), have taken numerous people to lunch with rave reviews each time, and even held my wedding rehearsal dinner at the Hwy 6 location so that relatives from out of town could enjoy what they are missing. I have never once in over 8 years had bad service, or been served anything less that delicious food. Currently I am hooked on the pork po boy special with a side of dirty rice (little sauce on top).

Bottom line you can't beat the food for the price anywhere.

MY REVIEW: I'm surprised to read about comments of rude service here. I work at the Babies R's Us right next door and when I go in for my lunch breaks they always greet me warmly, engage in some small talk with me, and I receive friendly service until I walk out the door. Maybe it's because I go in so much, who knows. I'll admit it's not the best barbeque I've had, but I've also had alot worse.

Worth the money or the trouble forget it! I'd rather drive someplace else. Don't waste your time with this place. There is a new place off Mason that is worth the drive and money!

MY REVIEW: WOW all I can say is allot of people on here seem to wake up on the wrong side of the bed ALOT!

I have been to the HWY 6 Location on many different occasions, while it is true that the customer service leaves something to be desired. Every thing that I have eaten from here is good, the brisket and my fav. the spicy sausage. The cheesy potatoes and baked beans are my fav. sides and my only real complaint is that you only get one slice of garlic bread. Prices are average but I feel a good price for the food quantity and type.

There are some places that might taste better but the price is reflected in this. For the money you get exactly what you pay for other than the lack of over friendly service. Ill be going there again soon!

MY REVIEW: been a regular at big daddy's since before the split (it became big daddy's and gil moved down the street), in general think everything is great but have to agree with some of the other reviews, the Fry Rd location service is not the best and at times if I were a newcomer I would not be back, but my biggest complaint would be being short changed on the take home packs, the last time I brought home a Jr. (advertised as 1 1/2lbs of meat) I requested a 50/50 mix of brisket and sausage (3/4lb or 12oz of each) when I got home the portions looked a little light so I dumped them on a digital kitchen scale, sausage weighed in at 9.25oz and the brisket at 10.1oz for a total weight of 19.35oz or under weight by 4.65oz, that's over a 1/4lb...seems like a minor issue until you realize that the meats sell for $3.50 per 1/4lb...I don't stop for the take packs anymore

MY REVIEW: I am a big BBQ fan. I pay whatever to get a good BBQ, which is difficult in a big city like Houston. Fortunately, Big Daddy's is always there for my cravings. I specially love their smoke taste brisket.

For your catering needs you can ask them to cook your meet the way you like it; juicy or not and how strong the smoke flavor you like.

You won't regret it.

MY REVIEW: BEST RIBS, hands down! They fall off the bone, so good. The turkey is excellent. Never tasted anything more moist. The brisket isn't anything too special. They seem to add a LOT of butter to their sides!

The service is good, sometimes so-so. They do get a little stingy with their portions.
