MY REVIEW: My husband and I started eating at Cafe Natalie around June and ever since we have been back 3 more times because the food was EXCELLENT. sure, it looks a little sloppy on the outside but if you like the old school and little tiny restaurant atmosphere then this place is for you. i think it's very romantic. the servers are wonderful. we never fail to tip them less than 20%. they have a huge selection of wines. my husband and I usually get steaks, i prefer Filet Natalie and Steak Diane. We also love their salmons, they are EXCELLENT. Overall, the service was great and judging the outside we thought we were going to have a horrible experience but in all honesty the food was delicious and worth every penny (and they are affordable prices too!) and the server we've had was amazing, she seems a little nervous at first but she made us feel comfortable at the place. great food, excellent wine list, and great service! would definitely recommend. do NOT judge this place based on the outside until you actually experience the wonderful service and food they offer.

MY REVIEW: Wow--has this place gone downhill in the last year. Before, it was a family favorite--a balance of breakfast and lunch selections at a reasonable price. The chocolate fountain to dip fruit, etc. was always fun for the kids. However, my last trip there had no fountain, lukewarm foods and an omelet chef that appeared too pre-occupied in conversation to pay attention to the customers that were eying him from the omelet station. The dining room seemed emptier than usual--maybe others have noticed the decline as well.

MY REVIEW: We went to Cafe Natalie's on Valentines Day for a romantic dinner. Never having been there before, we did some research on this website and also on the restaurant's website. According to the pictures on the website, it looked like a beautiful interior with lofty ceilings and large windows. When we arrived at the restaurant the outside was less than impressive with a large fiberoptic "sparkler" in front of it. Inside I didn't see any signs of large windows or lofty ceilings, just ratty carpet, cheap wood panneling, and ceiling fans with broken light fixtures. We waited almost an hour for our table which is not an unusual occurrence at any restaurant on V-day even with reservations, however, they had nobody in the bar even though there were numerous people who were asking to buy drinks, and there was limited seating. We were seated finally at a tiny table in a very crowded room, if I put my elbow out I would have hit the person at the next table. Since we were right on top of each other you could hear everyone's conversations and couldn't hold a private one. After waiting 20 minutes without seeing a waiter, one of the tables next to us complained loudly and a waiter came out to assist them. He apologized and told them that half of their staff hadn't shown up that night and they had made the bus boys waiters for the evening and he had been busy helping one of them out. At that point, my date and I decided that we may have better luck at another restaurant and left. I wouldn't be averse to trying this restaurant again at another time. The food looked and smelled wonderful, but if you're going for a romantic dinner with good ambience, go to another restaurant. The pictures on the website are definitely false advertising.

MY REVIEW: I have eaten there twice, once for dinner and once at the Sunday brunch. The Sunday brunch was excellent with a wide variety of both breakfast and lunch items available, as well as a fruit and dessert bar. The dinner was good, but the portion size could be increased a bit. The appetizer choices as well as the variety offered for the entrees is remarkable. The service lagged a bit from one waiter, but another graciously made up for this with free salads for the table of four. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. The brunch is worth every penny of the $10.00 and I understand that an omlette station and a carved roast beef station are in the making. I will be back.

MY REVIEW: First evening visit with my spouse (after a couple of business lunches):

No wait at all at 6:15 on a Friday evening "could" have been a bad sign (in fact there were less that 10 patrons at that time; however it did pick up by the time we left); however we had an overall pleasant experience. The ambiance was nice and the service was excellent. The bread and dipping sauce are very good (almost too good, if you came for the entrees). The two entrees we tried were both very good, although portions were a little on the small side in comparison to other restaurants of this type (but remember that bread and dipping sauce?).

Bottom Line: A nice new addition to our list of restaurants (especially in light of one of our favorites, Mangol*s, closing due to fire). However we were a little surprised at how few pasta dishes are offered (4).

MY REVIEW: I must say that the service here is WONDERFUL! My husband and I took our 9 year old daughter for lunch and we had a marvelous time. Now, whenever we can't decide what to eat, her first suggestion is CAFE NATALIE. The food was scrumptious and that bread! mmmmm mmmm good. Great cozy place with very affordable prices. Take a minute to see for yourself. We love it!

MY REVIEW: We had a wonderful meal served by the owner Eddie. When we ordered wine he suggested something much better! We followed his lead and let him order our meals! We had fish that was beautifully prepared! And hot! I have a fetish for restaurants that can manage to serve food hot on warmed plates. Our meal was followed up by a latte and a creme brulee. we have eaten at Cafe Natalies before .... but this dinner deserves a "Thank-you". Living in Sugar Land we grow weary of the the'chains'. This Richmond restaurant is unique and a great value.

MY REVIEW: Wow! Talk about a bargain. The Sunday brunch at Cafe Natalie at $10 is a steal. We were promptly and graciously received upon arrival by the owner. Reservations were honored and we were promptly seated. A complimentary glass of sparkling wine followed (refills are $2.50) -- No, it's not Dom Perignon but hey we're talking about a brunch here.

Head for the buffet line. The first thing that you will notice is the large plates. If you are a shrinp-a-holic, go there first -- you will destroy their profit margins. You will have to peel your own, but it's worth the effort.

Anyone who serves salmon with capers is alright with me. From scrambled eggs to pasta, to meatballs, everything on the main course buffet line is good to excellent.

Cafe Natalie has a rasberry balsamic vinagarette to die for. Grab crudities and douse them with this. You will come away pleased with the dessert offerings. I especially liked the fruit offerings, but chocolate lovers will think they have died and gone to heaven. The creme brulee is excellent.

I should mention that I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. This means that everything on my plate must be tempting otherwise it is not eaten. At Cafe Natalie, I was a member of the "clean plate" club.

Are there more elegant Sunday brunches in the Houston area? You bet! However they are three to four times the price of Cafe Natalie. Make a reservation and while you are there check into their lobster dinners and vintner dinners. The published telephone number may be long-distance for your area. It is for mine (Missouri City). I use the wireless and it works.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I decided to try the Sunday Brunch at Cafe Natalie. It was, without a doubt, the WORST meal we have ever eaten... It was noisy to begin with, but the food was such a disappointment. the mashed potatoes on the buffet were definitely some kind of instant potatoes...looked and tasted like instant. The chicken had a flavor that neither of us could identify and didn't care for it at all. The vegetable dish was cold.. There was a beef dish that was cold as well. The rolls were cold and stale and tasteless. The desserts looked like something taken from a freezer and set out to thaw..certainly not homemade. We will never go back... Simply put, the food was awful!

MY REVIEW: My friends and family have been loyal long-time customers of this restaurant for years. We have always given glowing references to others for service, food and a welcoming atmosphere. Last several visits have not lived up to our expectations. Specials offered were not available even when reservations had been made in a timely manner. Unfortunately for us, the last experience was uncomfortable and embarrassing to the point that we feel that we are no longer welcomed there. It is with great sadness that we now consider ourselves ex-customers of Cafe Natalie.

MY REVIEW: Giving credit where credit is due, we gave this place a second try. The stroganoff was excellent, and the greek salad had a wonderfully unique flavor. When we asked the waitress about a couple of the other dishes, she was totally clueless...attentive but clueless. the wine list still has some under-priced gems. However, that bread pudding...I lack the vocabulary. How they make something like that is beyond me. Why people order it and coo over it is mind boggling. But with all this improvement, we will go back. We will be careful, but we will go back.

MY REVIEW: What a rare find! Charming place, with an owner (Mr. Bandak) who takes care of business on a very personal (and professional) level. As a matter of fact, the service was on par (or even better!) than that of some of Houston's finest restaurants (and for a lot less money, too.)

The crab cakes are a must, and the southwestern chicken, delightfully presented with a chipotle cream sauce is simply marvelous. I'll be back for more. And oh, lest I forget, what a delightful touch - a rose presented to EVERY woman in the restaurant.

Don't miss this one - it's a rare find and worth the trip to Sugarland, even if you live in Houston.

MY REVIEW: What an incredible place. Nice atmosphere, attentive service with the perfect amount of time between courses, fair prices and an owner who really knows how to treat his customers. Mr. Bandak makes you feel as welcome as family, and I had never met him before the evening of our dinner. I can't say enough good things about his demeanor and his establishment. I recommend the angel hair pink vodka, although my wife had the chicken marsala and she raved about that too. You'll find at least one of the many wines available on the wine menu to your liking. Finally, one final touch to brag about, and that is a fresh rose for the lady of the table at the end of the meal. Like my wife said, "it beats a mint any day of the week."

We'll return.

MY REVIEW: Cafe Natalie is a gem. My wife and I occasionally enjoy a night out without our wonderful children. we have been to Cafe Natalie on two of these occasions. Both times we enjoyed the food, wine and service immensley. We were able to enjoy an excellent dinner with attentive service that never felt rushed. The wine list has a good selection for any budget. MY REVIEW: My wife and I and two of our closest friends had our 34th Wedding Anniversary dinner there Sunday evening. The service and food were spectacular. The crab cake and escargots appetizers were excellent. Especially wonderful was the pistacio crusted tilapia, seared ahi tuna, and beef wellington. The creme brulee and bread pudding desserts were the perfect end to the eveing. The owner brought a beautiful long stemmed red rose to my wife and comped the dessert when he found out it was our anniversary. We will definately return again.

MY REVIEW: Run, don't walk to another restaurant. Having forgotten how bad the last meal I had at Cafe Natalie was, last evening my husband and I went there for dinner. I guess I'm remembering how lovely the place was at the old location and the difference in prices now. For $17 my husband got 3 little pieces of potato, 2 slices of zucchini, and 3 slices of wiener schnitzel. It was a sad and pathetic looking plate. I had the crab cakes which were o.k. and a spinach salad. Would someone please let the chef know that prosciutto is not meant to be cut into tiny little cubes! Never, never, never again will I set foot in the place. Bigger is not necessarily better.

MY REVIEW: BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS CATERER!!!!!!! The details Café Natalie missed impacted our wedding reception in numerous ways. They were late in delivering the lunches I ordered for my friends and family who worked all morning to set up our reception site; subsequently, our friends and family went elsewhere to get lunch so they would not be late for the wedding ceremony. Café Natalie forgot the special plate of food I had requested, and they agreed to provide, for the groom’s mother who has severe food allergies. She ended up having nothing to eat the entire night and had to leave the reception early so she could finally eat. The Café Natalie staff repeatedly turned on the lights of the reception hall during the middle of the reception, which led my guests to believe it was time for them to leave far before the end of our reception.

As a part of our catering agreement, Café Natalie was to order, pick up, deliver and return my list of rental items. They carried out this part of the agreement, but through a different rental agency than I had requested. The result of this included:

• Short cocktail tables instead of tall ones for guests to stand and have their drinks by

• The wrong chair covers that were slippery satin instead of crepe that the bows slipped down

• A short guest book table that guests had to bend over to sign at instead of a tall one

• The corresponding linens that went to the floor for the tall cocktail and guest book table were way too big on the short tables we were given instead

I spoke with the owner of Café Natalie, Eddie, the day after our wedding and, at that time, he agreed to refund the amount we paid for the lunches that were delivered late. One month after the event I hadn’t received the refund and called to inquire about it. Eddy informed me that he changed his mind and decided not to refund the lunches after all. This led me to believe that the only reason he agreed to refund the lunches in the first place was because he hadn’t cashed our payment check. This is a dirty way to do business!
