Cafe Botticelli - New York Pizzeria
318 W Gray St, Houston, Texas 77019
MY REVIEW: I took my dinner club Eight Friends Out to NY Pizzeria to give everyone a taste of pizza done the back east way...Crispy and delicious, the pizzas we enjoyed were a host of traditional to non-traditional styles--the margarita was a favorite!
We also had delicious, huge desserts to die for! New York cheesecake, Italian cream cake, dark chocolate cake, and, my favorite--fresh filled cannolis! Top it off with an espresso or cafe latte, and we were a happy group...
Hats off to Jorge--our wonderful caretaker for the evening! He did a fabulous job, and I will bring many groups back!

MY REVIEW: I read the reviews before I visited the restaurant, so I thought I was pretty safe in finding a good place to eat, also saw the ZAGAT rating beside the door, so I walked in looking forward to eating here. We ordered the big pizza slice and two salads, mine with chicken. The pizza was nothing special at all and the chicken on my salad had the texture and taste of cardboard, it was probably left over from lunch and microwaved to death, since it arrived steaming like crazy on my Greek Salad. I guess if New York style means apathetic service and mediocre pizza and salads, then its not bad. I expected much better.

MY REVIEW: Love the pizza as well as the greek and antipasta salads. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Not too big on their desserts, the cookies are hard and flavorless.

MY REVIEW: I've only been a handful of times so far, but theres many more to come in the future. Coming from a New York born kid, this is by far one of the best places I've found in houston for great New York pizza. A few different kinds of pizza is all I've experienced so far, but they also have Italian pasta dishes and salads as well as a full bar. And not the most typical NYC however... The atmosphere is very impressive with dark rich wooded beamed ceilings and dimmed and cozy, yet young and trendy interior. Perfect for that area of town. 10 out of 10 so far in my book.
