Clementine's Restaurant

MY REVIEW: This restaurant is very close to our house. It was by luck we stumbled across it... It has a wonderful, unique atmosphere with live music that is quite romantic on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. It brings the unique atmosphere of a trendy downtown restaurant to Champions. The prices are moderate; they are adequate for the portions, and fair for the ambiance. Breakfast is also good, and we are looking forward to trying the buffett. We plan on many more visits in the future.

MY REVIEW: Horrible smell of stale cigarettes permeates the entire restaurant. The soup was lumpy, salty, and a bit like gravy. I ordered the "slow-roasted" prime rib, but instead, received a jiggling gray slab of meat that was obviously baked for about 15 minutes and not slow roasted for several hours. It was still raw on the inside and it was impossible to chew through all the tendons and gristle. It was horrid.
The waitress was oblivious to our needs for drink refills, silverware for our meal, and when it was time to deliver the bill. This was not because she was busy, we were one of three tables in the place.

MY REVIEW: Had our Christmas party there this year and it was excellent. The food was great - especially the calamari. The wait staff - excellent. Will definitely return. Have been there several times for dinner. The only negative - the smoking section - smell cigarettes all through the restaurant. Do not like to smell cigarettes - especially when first entering. But the food is great!

MY REVIEW: Strong points: quiet enough to have a conversation
Weak points: '70's inspired food, '70's bad pop music. The linguini del mar was just tasteless. The sauce had no flavor, the shrimp tasted like iodine, the crawfish were miniscule and tough, my husband thought they were dried, reconstituted shrimp! I'd rather 4 nice, fresh shrimp than a dozen small, thawed, frozen shrimp. The french onion soup tasted like it came from a can. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but the whole menu seemed outdated and uninspired. The good thing is the '70's pop music had us giggling pretty good by the time we finished so we just chalked it up to bad night out that we won't repeat.

MY REVIEW: I moved too far away to visit regularly, but I have seen Clementine's grow from a good sandwich shop in the '80s to the comfortable restaurant with a very inviting menu that it has now. There is a family atmosphere because the family that owns the restaurant ensures that it is so. I've enjoyed dinner for two, as well as banquets in the back room -- always with excellent service.

MY REVIEW: This place is family owned and the attentive service and desire to please reflect this. We were glad to find this oasis in the sea of surrounding big chains that have high noise levels and want to "turn your table". We were able to linger over dinner--we in no way felt rushed--and could actually converse--what a concept! The food was quite nice and the prices reasonable.

MY REVIEW: The very best place to have breakfast on the weekend. I only wish they were open during the week... Not noisy like I hope and the owner is so nice and friendly to all. This is a must if you are in the 1960 area. The dinners are nice and there is a varied menu...there is something for everyone.

MY REVIEW: This morning was the first time I checked out Clementine's. We're moving to the area in mid-August. They serve a wonderful breakfast, quite a bit of variety. I had the breakfast taquitos (scrambled egg, sausage, fantastic potatoes, salsa, and tasty tortillas). My husband had the Scandanavian Starter which consisted of scrambled eggs, smoke salmon, capers, an array of fresh fruit, and a toasted croissant. Everything was freshly prepared and delish. Their lunch, dinner, and buffet menus all sound divine and are quite extensive with something for everyone. Atmosphere is quaint and cozy, a definite must if in the FM 1960 area.
