MY REVIEW: As soon as I stepped into the door, anything that may have been bothering me all melted away with a staff that is more than willing to please. My party and I were treated like royalty. Being finicky for quality service, and often feeling disappointed by the lack thereof, I was gleeful more optimistic about the state of fine dining in an often 'unfine' dining world. The food was o, o, o, orgasmic...yeah, that’s right, multiple. The Chef's demeanor seasoned every bite and made it ‘oh so right’. (Shout out to Chef Mark Holley! Holla!) The lobster was almost too beautiful to eat. I tasted a bit of everything on the table—house sushi, scallops, crab cakes, mussels, clams, flounder, and the bisque. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection, and left you appreciating each and every flavor melding together to create a piece of heaven. Hell, I bet Chef Holley could make the tablecloth taste good. I love the napkins, I love the wait staff (they actually wait), I love the butter, love, love, love. Pesce, you complete me. Thank you, and you will be seeing me again.
PS I didn't even have to valet to get a great parking spot--lucky me? Go to Pesce, and you'll consider yourself lucky too.

MY REVIEW: I recently visited Pesce during the restaurant week. I agreed with everyone provided reviews. Pesce serves very fresh seafood.
For the appetitizer, we ordered the seafood martini and a bowl of Mexican Seafood soup. The seafood martini came with fresh shrimp and crab meat and served with chopped cabbage. The flavor was a bit different, though it reminded me of a fancy cole slaw, i did start enjoying it toward the end. The soup was a mix of seafood gumbo/tortilla soup with fresh fish and avocado. It was delicious.
For entree, we tried the red fish and mahi mahi. Both were fresh. The mahi mahi came with a sauce, though sweet, but it tasted unique. As for the red fish, the fried potato skin on the outside soften as you eat and though it's not salty, the combination of potato and fish together with the sauce was yummy.
As for dessert, we ordered the creme brulee with fresh berries and the sorbet. Both were excellent and not too sweet. I will try to visit this restaurant again and order from their menu.

MY REVIEW: ummm, can you say amazing? well i guess it helps that I was invited and I don't know how much everything cost, probably over $100 per person. I got the seafood martini which looked great and tasted better, then i had potato baked redfish which was awesome, not enough salt for my taste but i love really salty food.
For dessert I got the brownie sundae. again, it looked amazing and tasted amazing as well. Then on our way out we got to meet the chef and he took our picture, which was great. All in all, great place, but I'm guessing only for special occasions. Maybe i will go back for my birthday this year.

MY REVIEW: Recently visited Pesce, and was dazzled by the freshness and uniqueness of both appetizers and entrees. Kudos to the chef! Rather pricy, but I would definitely return. One item of note--our waiter was rather rude and seemed annoyed that our party of four took time to figure out how to split the check. During the entire meal he was sour--maybe he was having a bad day, but honestly, when you pay $200 for a meal, you expect the staff to be of the best quality.

MY REVIEW: Pesce has very fresh seafood. We started off w/ scallops, which was the best part of our meal! Also had the lobster bisque soup, which was good except the alcohol taste was a bit overbearing. My husband had the dover sole that the waitress deboned in front of us. It was good but priced at $55, not that special. I had the crab cakes which is full of real crabmeat, however the taste was only mediocore. For the dessert we had the coconut cream pie which was to die for! We also had a bottle of wine. The portions were quite generous as well for an upscale restaurant. Our bill came out to be $200. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you are celebrating something special. The atmosphere is nice, great service, fresh food. Just be ready to spend $$$+.

MY REVIEW: You ruined my birthday dinner, and now you've ruined my Monday. My husband takes me to this really nice dinner at Pesce. We arrive and are seated. It takes 10 min for someone to notice us and another 15 min to get our drinks and order an appetizer. It takes another 20 min to get our appetizer. The appetizer was crap. It was supposed to be calamari but it must have been rubber bands fried and served with a sauce because that's what it tasted like. Our waiter didn't check on us to see if we were okay at any point during the appetizer. We had to clear our own plates from in front of us, which is not cool. We finally get to order our entrees and WOW! They were absolutely great! The entrees were oh so delicious!! But again, when we were done, we had to clear our own plates and move them to the other side of the table.
My husband had arranged for a special desert but the waiter forgot. After dropping $200 I would probably not return to this restaurant.
So, fast forward.... I put in a comment on the restaurant website. I get a phone call from the chef. I though "cool!". Yeah, so I call Pesce back. I ask for Chuck, the first guy that left a message from there. I get “you have the wrong number”. So I ask for Mark, I get “He’s not here right now”. I ask to leave a message and the guy starts laughing “Sure, just one moment”. So I leave my name and number at work. What's so damn funny? And I have yet to receive a call back again.
CN: Went to nice dinner on my birthday, got crappy service, got phone call from Chef, got laughed at for wanting to leave a message. Still have not spoken to someone regarding the crappy service.

MY REVIEW: First of all, this is a great place to take a date. I must say I enjoyed the appetizer (seafood martini) the best out of everything I had that night, jumbo crab was so fresh and the mixture was to die for. I also had the dover sole..an off the menu item, fish was great, but a little pricey. Overall, the food was great, good ambiance....two ppl for 170 ...one appetizer, two drinks and two main dishes

MY REVIEW: I'm fortunate to have been invited to Pesce twice in recent weeks. I ordered the crab cake entree on one evening and was mildly disappointed in the sauce. Something was different than I had enjoyed in the past. However, my business associate and I enjoyed a lovely evening and the sevice was spot on. He devoured his traditional cornmeal crusted seafood plate and of course the seafood martini!
A birthday celebration was the reason for my most recent visit and everyone left pleased. Our lovely server recovered quickly after the kitchen overlooked one entree. We were having too good of a time to be overly concerned. A couple of soups were ordered as appetizers as well as that ever irresistable seafood martini and a tray of fresh oysters. Potato encrusted halibut, tuna trio, honey-glazed shrimp with grits....each a hit. My date ordered the whole roasted special of red snapper and I was lucky enough to get a taste. YUM!
Atmosphere, service, wine, great food topped off with coconut cream pie, brownies and a banana split. What more could one ask for?

MY REVIEW: Wow, what a treat! My sweetheart and I tend to wait until the last minute to make dinner plans but this Saturday evening we got lucky. We scored a 7:30 reservation and were seated immediately in one of the quiet booths in the back. We conversed easily, enjoyed people watching, checked out the food at other tables, and sipped our drinks while looking over the menu and visiting with the staff. We enjoy good food and good restaurants and Pesce did not let us down. The seafood martini was great and we enjoyed every morsel. My boyfriend ordered a crab cake and it was the best I've ever tasted. Our entrees were the potato encrusted snapper and another snapper dish with crabmeat, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and a yummy, buttery sauce. I don't know which was better. Desserts were scrumptious, service was attentive and personable, and as you can tell we can't wait to splurge on another visit. I'd like to try sitting at the oyster bar next time......looked like fun. Overall Pesce is an upscale restaurant with a laid back, comfortable attitude. Enjoy!

MY REVIEW: In a nutshell, OUTSTANDING. We had not been to Pesce's in years (in fact, it was a non-Landry restaurant at that time apparently origingally owned by the C*arraba family for those who like trivia). For a Thursday night, the place was very busy. There are two bars, one to the left as you walk in and the other in the center of the restaurant. We chose to sit at the big "appetizer/cold prep" bar in the center (we like the constant service and had great service from Lenny who has been there three years).
We started with two martinis, a French martini and a Negroni, and both were chilled and "juiced" to perfection. While enjoying our martinis, they served us sourdough bread (cold just like in San Franciso) and olive bread (not warm either, but very fresh, so skip the sourdough). They give you some little spread (not butter) to put on your bread and it quickly disappeared along with our bread. I had the seafood martini (delicious!) and my husband ate the gazpacho (wonderful!). The seafood martini had crab meat and claws, lobster, shrimp, etc. and avocado. These, coupled with a nice bottle of sauvignon blanc, hit the spot.
BUT, then we asked to just take a "peek" at the dessert menu (for future reference only, of course) and learned that "Tiny", the pastry chef, made a mean Napoleon (suggested by Lenny). Ohmigosh....we tried not to let anyone see us licking the plate! We both agreed it was the most unique Napoleon, and the best Napoleon, we had ever had. I think there were five layers of baked phyllo dough and in between each layer was the creamy concoction along with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and maybe another berry... we lost count. YUM! We will go back. Maybe one day we will leave room for an entree.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I went here and had a spectacular dinner. I was a bit concerned since this was a Landry's and I have always found their food to be overpriced and not that great. But not sure about the people complaining about the price - places where they fold your napkin when you go to the restroom, and guys hovering to fill your water glass or serve bread are going to cost more.
My wife had the potato crusted halibut and was stunned at the TWO large delicious, moist filets with a wonderful coating. I got the sesame yellow fin tuna and was very pleased with the wonderful seasoning and cooking (perfect medium rare). The bread was extremely good and we should know since we make all our own breads. The mixed greens salad was very nice and both our dressings were very tasty. The German chocolate cake was very good too, although way too big (actually seeing the others, they are all way too big). We each got a glass of wine for $10 - typical for a nice place these days but they were big glasses. My wife was pleased with the decaf herbal tea (can't always find any) and my decaf was very good and complimented the cake nicely. This is one of the few places where, without asking, my decaf was reguarly topped off with freshly brewed coffee.
You could go casually to this place in jeans (and maybe some of those commenting on price were expecting something more akin to Landry's other restaurants) or dressed up. All in all, a very nice dinner.

MY REVIEW: I am a fan of Pesce and have been impressed with their personalized service, high quality food and staff. Everyone is very friendly, but Armando and Lenny are the kings of personalized service and accomodation. We love sitting at the bar, chatting, and watching Lenny prepare appetizers. You really can't go wrong anywhere in the restaurant, though. The seafood is the freshest in town, and the chef maintains a no frozen seafood policy. It's easy to tell the difference. If you get the chance, try the dover sole--it is baked whole, skinned and deboned at your table, then lavished with crabmeat/hollandaise sauce mixture. Truly a one of a kind dish that will have you coming back for more. I even like the Caesar salad, made from a whole Romaine heart, ladeled with dressing, then served on an icy cold salad plate. Yum! I think I may have to return tonite, I'm getting so hungry writing about this great place!
The only negative I've encountered is prices, but personally I think they are appropriate for the food quality and service. Not much of a negative for me, but if you are tight on budget, I suggest you save up for a special occasion, then SPLURGE!

MY REVIEW: I took a friend from out of town here on a Friday evening. The restaraunt was packed but we were seated almost immediatly. Even though our server was tending a large 10-top, we were never left waiting for anything. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer and found them to be alright. We had the mahi mahi and salmon as a main dish and both were superb. I feel that Pesce is on the high end price-wise for this type of restaraunt in Houston, but my friend was blown away by how resonable it was. We were able to dine on an appetizer, 2 main courses, dester and drinks for $120. Kudos to the staff and chef. I wll definitely continue to send business your way!

MY REVIEW: for appetizers we had the diver scallops, damian oysters, and mussles. the diver scallops were wonderful and i will most definitly come back for that.oysters had an interesting salsa or some kind of sauce. the mussles were good but not fantastic or anything. had the fish special of the day. came with a crab meat sauce and it was tasty also. the brownie sundae was way too rich for me. if you love chocolate then this is it for you. overall the food was good but felt the fish special was overpriced at $45. will come back to try other things and to get the scallops

MY REVIEW: A group of us came here for a friend's birthday party. Let me start off by listing the good things about this restaurant.
My wife and I started off with the Seafood Martini and Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. The Martini was excellent. All the seafood we had tasted fresh and delicious. For entrees I had the Seafood Stew and my wife had the Lobster Bisque. The Stew was excellent. The soup base reminded me of bouillabase that I had in France, and the seafood again was good. The lobster was especially good that night and was not hard and chewy as is typical with overcooked lobser. However, the Bisque was the worst bisque we've ever tasted. Someone else had ordered this and shared with our sentiments. I don't know if it was a bad batch that night, but I've had better bisque for a 3rd of the price. All in all, the seafood was fresh and tasted delicious.
Now comes the negative aspects of this review. Unless I win millions in a lottery, I would never come here again. All the meals were severely overpriced. I don't mind spending money for good quality food, and in fact my wife and I make it a point to try different fancy restaurants all the time. But when the night was done, I did not feel like I got my money's worth. I've been to better seafood restaurants in terms of good food and value. I can say that my group shared our view.
Also our waiter had the inability to split up the cheques. His excuse was that it would take all night to do this. I think his real excuse is his lack of skills to perform a slightly complicated task. Instead, he had one bill and spent all night figuring out what we all owe. Also. he never came around the table to ask about the food. Mediocre service.
If you have not been to this restaurant, definitely try it once. Then you can write a review and let me know if I am off base.

They all agree that it was the best dining experience they had ever had and, they can't wait to go back. We had the fresh fish, crab cakes, pupu platter, fried seafood platter, and the delicious pork chops, the scalloped potatoes, and the wonderful desserts, the brownie, the coconut pie, lemon pie. Believe me, we were in awe!! Mark is such a great executive chef, he knows how to make all of his customers feel welcome. I never can say enough about the food and the service because, it is always exceptional!!Like one of my friends keeps saying, it is a true dining experience. Mark, we salute you and your staff!!! MY REVIEW: I never can say enough about Chef Mark and his amazing food and staff. We went Saturday and took a couple of our friends and, they are still talking about it today!!!. My friend told me that everything I have said is so true, her and her husband enjoyed the crab cakes, bar-b-cue shrimp, augratin potatoes and the asparagus. She said even the drinks were the bomb!! She kept saying today that she can't wait to go back. As for me and my husband we enjoyed every dish we had. And, of course I had to close my meal with the delicious brownie , the best of any restaurant I have eaten at. Mark you keep us coming back for more!! Me and another of my friends will be bringing our friend that came Saturday back for her birthday next month. She will be very surprised!! I can't wait to sink my teeth into some more of your delicious creations. I just hate I have to wait until next month. Like I said before, Chef of the Year is well deserved indeed!!!

MY REVIEW: My husband took me again for my birthday, we both love Chef Mark Holley's food and his amazing staff. It's so hard for me to describe the food that we had Sat. my husband had amazing seafood martini, I had the pupu platter with ribs, chicken and the cold noodles,(oh my God) how fantastic!!! Fried green tomato, everyone should try all of these dishes!! This really blowed my mind, I have never ever liked lamb, until Saturday, it was so wonderful!! I told Chef Mark that I didn't like Lamb and he told me to trust him on this and, it was the best meat I have ever put in my mouth it was prepared Moroccan Style, and it Rocked me to the core because, I would never have tried it had I not been so Comfortable with Mark's suggestion!!. Thank you for making my birhday special!!. Your food is divine!! No restaurant I have been to, can top you and your staff!!.
The other thing I want everyone to know is I'm not a seafood eater and this is the restaurant that I will choose over all the other high dollar restaurants in Houston everytime!! Thanks to you Mark and your amazing staff. I can't wait to come back and enjoy some more of your wonderful food and amazing desserts.!! I wish I could get past the amazing brownie and try some of your other wonderful desserts but, I'm hooked on the brownie!! All of your food is perfection!!

MY REVIEW: We also went on our anniversary and loved it! Perhaps it's because we ordered the tasing menu, which was reasonably priced at $70. Every single item on the menu was incredible. Starting with the fried green tomato (I'm not a fan of tomatoes, but this was delicious!). The best dish was the shrimp and grits. We've had it before in South Carolina and loved it. The smokiness of this dish made it a winner at Pesce.
The service was OK. It was a busy night, but we had to ask for spreads for the bread (i.e., butter). We were totally amused by the hostess who dressed, walked and stood like Paris Hilton! We loved watching her walk guests to their tables. Don't know if she was doing it on purpose, but she really looked like a dark-haired version of Paris.
We would definitely recommend the restaurant and the tasting menu!

MY REVIEW: This is my favorite restaurant in Houston, I don't know what happened when the other couple went there for there anniversary but, I took one of my friends for her birthday and it was just so wonderful. The maitre'd came by a couple of times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and Mark came to our table at least three times and so did another gentleman. They were all on top of there game. The food was so wonderful as always. My friend really understands what I had been telling her now. I went to Las Vegas 2 weeks ago and we ate at E*meril's Fish House at the MGM and, all my friends want to know which is better? It's to close to call, they don't have Mark and Pesce beat. Keep on keeping on!!! Work your show Mark, you and your fantastic staff!!!

MY REVIEW: My fiance and I were truly disappointed with our visit to Pesce for our anniversary. The ambiance of the restuarant was really nice. The service was fine. The weak point of the restuarant was the "food". We came to Pesce expecting really great food, but that was not the case. My fiance ordered the Fried Thai Fish, which lacked flavor. I ordered the Crab Cakes which was not what I had expected at all. I had better Crab Cakes at other fine dining restuarant.
We are definitely not going back.
truly disappointed :(

MY REVIEW: We had the pleasure of dining at our Favorite place in Houston again last night for our Anniverary. My oh my!!! what great food, like I have said before Mark Holley is at the top of his game. We took our 14 year old daughter and she was in heaven. She asked us how can everything be so good? And you know when they are that age, they are very picky. Bite after bite she would just say, oh my goodness!!!. I can't say enough good things about Mark and Pesce. We were sitting across from some people and they were telling Mark how wonderful everything was. Our sentiments exactly. All I will add is go and check it out yourself you won't be disappointed. Keep working it Mark.!!! Chef of the Year well earned indeed.
