MY REVIEW: Had breakfast at Katz's on Saturday... It was busy but the food and service was not lacking! They had the best waffle I've had in town and great hot syrup to add. Great coffee too.

MY REVIEW: Hailing from the Northeast, a fellow Yankee and I decided to try Katz's the other day and were sadly disappointed in it. The host could hardly speak English, we were seated at a dirty table, the waitress with the unnatural red patch in her hair (Kat) was forgetful and inept. I had to get up and get our napkins and utensils myself and you had to practically BEG to get refils for your drinks. The desserts were good but the ruben my friend ordered was horrible.
The place is overpriced and overrated. I'll not go back.

MY REVIEW: Food was good, but they need to bring the prices down. Paid $2.48 for a glass of iced tea. C'mon...it's tea!

MY REVIEW: It was New Years night and we were hungry. I've always heard that Katz's never closes so we went there and sure enough, they were open. We were seated promptly and had a very considerate waitress. She was really good. But not as good as the smoked turkey on sourdough sandwich that I had. I have to admit that it was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back to try their other menu items.

MY REVIEW: I am a regular here as I am a 'vampire'/late-night person. The food is good, but a bit overpriced. But, I LOVE the fried pickles and chocolate cheesecake shakes! The Spinach Frittata is good, as well as the Reuben. The service is a mixed-bag...sometimes good, sometimes sucks. But, as a Native New Yorker, it's a nice slice of the Red Apple...pun intended. Good late night place, but they just need to bring down the prices.

MY REVIEW: My wife and I went the Saturday before Halloween. I had an overall good experience there, and my wife's leftovers made for one more good meal for her. I was in the mood for something different and got the cheesesteak. They did an excellent job with it. Even the roll was good! My wife's reuben made her eyes bug out (she's not quite used to a delicatessen).
A previous poster said that his tongue sandwich came bare? All he had to do was ask for pickles and slaw and they would have been brought out, gratis. It is on the menu in big letters. Also odd that my wife's Reuben had a spear.
While Katz's is a little far away, it was convenient (we were at the Natural Science Museum) and was worth the long drive home. I'll make more of a point to go there if I'm in the area.

MY REVIEW: Ate here for the first time and I was very pleased w/ my visit. John, the host, was very friendly and upbeat and sat us promptly. The staff worked well together and all seemed to be helping each other out. I had the #7 and it was fantastic and my friend had the yankee dinner and it too was also fantastic. So much food and the free pickles and coleslaw is the best in town! Jessica, our server, did great job and gave excellent suggestions. Finished off with a NY cheesecake shake... its definetly worth the extra calories.

MY REVIEW: I was welcome in by a rancid odor of dirty wet rags. I asked for a piping hot tongue sandwich, when it came it was cold, requiring to send it back. Taste was OK. The plate came with the tongue sandwich and nothing else. It must be the only deli in USA where no pickles or other trimmings accompany the order. On the bright side, the bathroom was clean.

MY REVIEW: Katz's Deli is one of our stopping points when we are in their part of town. We have lived in Houston four years and Katz's Deli is one of our favorite places to eat. However, today, we placed our name on a short waiting list then noticed many being seated after our arrival. Some how they missed us,we spoke up and were quickly seated.
Actually though, the main reason for my review is the fact that the famous Katz's Deli Black and White cookie has changed. We are very disapointed with the new cakey cookie...please return it to the original cookie!

MY REVIEW: This is crazy! My girlfriend and I dine here all the time. We have seen this place "Grow up" in the neighborhood and I tell you, we've got ourselves a winner. The staff is so nice and eager to assist anyone. There is never a dull face!
Why go all the way to the Galleria, when you can get a fresh hot Rueben and ice cold Dr.Brown's at a place where everyone cares to know your favorite dish?
We went this morning, and it was busy! The hosts were concerned about getting everyone a seat and fast! I ordered my usual Holy Mary and spinach frittata. I'm still full and have enough for breakfast tomorrow.
Thank you Katz's for being the best restaurant in town. We will be back.

MY REVIEW: I must disagree with the negativity of this deli. I ate the matzo ball soup and had the cobb salad and both were incredibly good. I have never been there but they have a guaranteed returned visit. I had Andrew as my waiter and I cannot complain about him either.

MY REVIEW: We were completely disappointed in the food. The food lacked flavor and was cold. Service was attentive and we have no complaint with the waiter. He did a good job.
We gave it a try, but will continue going to Ken*ny and Zig*gys.

MY REVIEW: I have never been disappointed. The food has always been hot and delicious. The wait staff is friendly, helpful, and prompt. Their rice pudding is to die for. I think I'll go there tonight. And....Katz's never closes. :-)

MY REVIEW: I have been twice in the last two weeks for breakfast. On both occasions the order delivered to the table was the wrong one. Food comes out luke warm at best, as though it was sitting out waiting to be picked up. There should be no excuse as the place was less than 1/3 full both times. Now I know why there was no crowd.

MY REVIEW: A total dissapointment. Asked for the complimentary slaw and pickles - never got them. Had to ask what came with the overpriced and undersized sandwich and was told nothing. Ordered the Pastrami on seeded rye, toasted. Arrived untoasted with just barely enough pastrami to qualify as a deli sandwich. Ordered fries and onion rings. Batter was heavy on the rings and fries cold - both were greasy!
I have eaten at many New York Deli's and Katz's doesn't measure up. Kenny and Z*iggy's, now that's a deli and they know how to do it!

MY REVIEW: I AM A PASTRAMI LOVER . I VISITED KATZ'S DELI WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS AFTER ALL THEY ARE A NEW YORK DELI . I FOUND THE PASTRAMI TO BE OVERPRICED AND THE SANDWICH TO SMALL FOR THE PRICE. THERE IS A DELI IN SUGARLAND WHERE THE PASTRAMI IS JUST AS GOOD FOR HALF THE PRICE. I ALSO ORDERED CARROT CAKE ,AND CHEESECAKE WHICH I FOUND DELICIOUS .

MY REVIEW: I HAVE VISITED KATZ'S A FEW TIMES AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. SERVERS ARE FRIENDLY AND VERY ATTENTIVE. WE ALWAYS ASK FOR RUDY OR VERONICA OR SIT AT THE BAR AND HAVE MARGARITAS AND FRIED PICKLES. FOOD AND DRINKS ARE ALAWAYS GREAT.
NAME: Big Red SUBMITTED: 7/2/2006 LAST VISIT WAS: 6/29/06 FREQUENCY: Everybody here knows my name...
MY REVIEW: My only complaint is with some of the staff. The cleaning staff was extremely rude to me one night when I simply was trying to go to the resroom. I complained to the waiter and was told that the cleaning staff are not a part of their team. Then I had a problem with the waitress who was obviously interested in my female companion. she took almost 30 minutes to bring the drinks to myslef and our other male diner. I did not like this but the food made up for the service. The food has always been well prepared and tastes good. The French Dip is very good.

MY REVIEW: I am surprised that people have so many complaints about this place! The food has always been wonderful when I've gone, and the one that there was a problem, it was handled quickly and without a negative attitude. I have never been disappointed. I go in late at night generally, and the staff has always been friendly and attentive, even when it's obvious how busy they are. I find that itself is amazing, considering some of the things I've seen late at night from the other guests. Overall, it's calm, but the drunks that show up after the bars close definitely make life more difficult for the staff. I highly recommend this place! Try the Reuben, fried pickles, and the cheesecake shake. They're great!

MY REVIEW: I have been wanting to visit Katz's for a long time and decided St. Patrick's Day was as good of a time as any. I had the special, Corned beef and Cabbage and my cousin had the spinach frittata with a cinnamon roll a which was so good (I just stole a couple of bites.) Our server Megan was perhaps the best server I ever had! I ordered the cheesecake for dessert and she suggested we add the strawberries and vanilla sauce. I will be back for the great atmosphere, awesome food and coffee, and the outstanding service

MY REVIEW: I keep hoping that they will suprise me with better quality food but I suppose that hope is in vain. I have to tell you that the service here has always been excellent but the hot Reuben, and other dishes I have had, pale in comparison to K*ahn's Deli over in Rice Village.

MY REVIEW: My husband and I decided to go to Katz on a Friday night and give it a try. The Club sandwich my husband ordered, and the Philly cheesteak that I ordered were really great. The the restaurant is really clean, and staff was friendly and attentive! Katz really exceeded our expectations! We will definitely go there again.

MY REVIEW: I really don't know if those reviewing this place well know what a real New York deli is like. I am from Brooklyn, and if this place keeps trying to sell itself as a New York deli, they should be locked away for purgery. First of all I have never heard of a fried pickle or cheesecake milkshake. Service is poor, and the food was cold, salty, and disgusting! There are plenty of other alternatives in Houston that are much closer to the real thing. Don't waste your time or money on this place. Hopefully they will not be around for much longer except for those looking for the fast food version of New York deli. As a New Yorker, I am insulted!
