MY REVIEW: consistently one of the best casual restaurants in town.... From soup and sandwiches, entree's and specials (and deserts), the food is always freshly prepared, visually very appealing and quite affordable considering quality and serving portions. Service at the register is friendly and courteous... Kudo's to the hard working owners and service staff..

MY REVIEW: I use to frequent Paulie’s much more when I lived in the area. I took a friend and went back after not going for quite some time. I love love love the cookies, especially the peanut butter with half chocolate. The shrimp BLT is to die for. But I was very disappointed to find out that the KC special which use to be my favorite was not made with a fresh chunk of mozzarella like I remember. Now its just 4 or 5 slices of thin mozzarella that looked like it came out of a plastic wrapper. Please bring back the thick gooey chunk of mozzarella that use to be inside the KC special and I would fall in love with you all over again Paulie’s!

MY REVIEW: Consistently excellent food, outstanding personnel and casual atmosphere make Paulie's our choice sometimes as often as twice a week. We always have great meals here, and the kids' buffet at dinnertime is a great way to get hungry tummies filled quickly. Chicken tetrazini, chicken saltimboca (the Thursday special, I think), chicken breast with mushroom saute, fruit salad and the paninis are just a few of our favorites. And Paulie's cookies are legendary, especially the iced shortbread, which always have a seasonal theme. Thanks to Paul and crew for great food and always making us feel so welcome.

MY REVIEW: To begin with, I wasn't expecting this to be an Italian restaurant. From the outside, I thought it was going to be some spin on an Irish pub.
Being used to decently authentic Italian food, I can't believe that people like this place. It was packed, so apparently there are more people that are comfortable with subpar Italian cuisine than I had imagined. My friend had the chicken saltimbocca and it was so awful I couldn't even force down the bite I took to sample. It was salty and had a funky taste that did not come close to representing the saltimbocca dish that I had come to know and love.
I was not very hungry, so I just had a traditional grilled chicken sandwich. There was no taste except the burned grill taste of the chicken. The sprinkled parsley on the toasted bread for presentation; however, it will take a lot more than a few parsley flakes to pull this restaurant from the depths of mediocre.
If you are hungry and don't really care what you are eating, I definitely recommend this restaurant. If you are a fan of good Italian food, then I suggest you find a different alternative.

MY REVIEW: I am on a very healthy diet that I have to watch everything from the kind of fruits and veggies I eat to what the food is cooked in. I can actually eat at Paulie's and not worry about my choices. There are so many things to choose from even on a strict diet. Off of my diet I crave their grilled chicken fettuccini alfredo!!! Their grilled chicken is the best I have ever had! And the fact that I can get a quality meal with grilled chicken, ceasar salad, and fruit desert for about $10 makes me a customer for life.

MY REVIEW: I went for my first time today based on reviews here, I had the chicken and mushrooms which came with brocoli and small red potatoes with skins on in a white sauce with red onion slices. Everything was superb: the well flavored, tender, juicy chicken was covered with more than half a cup of sliced mushrooms. The broccoli was steamed perfectly - not over or under cooked as it often is. The potatoes were also perfectly cooked and enhanced by the presence of the red skins.
You can bet I will be back soon.

MY REVIEW: weak point-not having table service!
strong points, if your on a health kick, you can eat here... salads are made with quality ingredients, hefty portions, they have the best homemade veggie soup.. add chicken to it, perfect!.. shrimp blt, grilled tuna sandwiches are also good. their chicken salad and pasta, potato salad are very good, not your run of the mill concoctions.
i like their peanut butter cookies the best, they are divine!
i eat here alot, enjoy it!

MY REVIEW: Good stuff! The spaghetti and Meatballs were really good. Do not have to worry about going hungry! I took a takeout and had lunch out of it the next day! Fast service, clean atmosphere. The bread was good as well. Nothing disappointing about this place.

MY REVIEW: I was very happy with Paulie's this evening, though if I had been any kind of dieter this would of ruined it for me. I had the fetticine alfredo (plain, no chicken) and ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich for my boyfriend, along with an impulsive decision to add on the daily soup special (cream of mushroom) and a cream cheese brownie. Service was quick, it was all less than $25 and the portions were huge.
The fettucine dish will continue to feed me for tomorrow's lunch and dinner. It is extremely rich, so just a couple of bites will be enough. It also came with a nice sized, well-garlicked piece of toasted panini, which I finished the first time around because I love garlic bread. The soup was more like chunky mushroom soup, but was it pretty good; another save it for later based on generous portionage. Finally I made it to the brownie, and by then I could only cut off a sliver, because by then it was all waufer-thin.
I check out Paulie's every once in a while cuz I live in the hood, and it has not disappointed me yet--good price to portion ratio, good food, nice dining room layout, and pretty good, efficient service. Thanks Paulie!

MY REVIEW: I will admit that I came to Paulie's the first time to get their shrimp/BLT, and it was so good that everytime I come back I find myself ordering it again and again.....the pasta salads are great too....and the mushroom soup is KILLER....portobello, button, shitake, they must have 4 or 5 different types in it...and your bowl is full when you get it...
It's a bit expensive, but I still like going there...and my friends rave over the desserts.....especially the cookies dipped in white chocolate and the carrot cake...
It's a keeper!!

MY REVIEW: Two friends & I had lunch Saturday at Paulie's. They are regulars but it was only my second time to eat there. I really have enjoyed it both times. Their set up is the same as P*ronto Cucina & C*afe Express-you order at the counter then when your food is ready you go pick it up. Saturday I had the Petronella Panini-it was turkey & swiss. Very good & a huge sandwich. It came with a side of a really good pasta salad. The price was good at $8.50. They also have very good ice tea. The desserts & cookies looked yummy but I passed on them! My friends both had the Shrimp po-boy-they loved them. Their sandwich came with potato salad that they both enjoyed as well.
We will definitely be back!!

MY REVIEW: I have always loved paulies. The shrimp blt is the best sandwich i have ever had. This place use to be a stop for me once a week for a shrimp BLT and an Iced tea. Well recently i noticed the tea tasted dirty (i am being nice when I say dirty) so I asked one of the servers and sure enough they changed iced tea for something cheaper. this is very sad. I hope this isnt a trend for this place.

MY REVIEW: Strong points 1) new location. i had the special (eggplant parmesian) and it was below par for Paulie's
2) customer's now have direct access to ice as ice machine is available to fill glasses.
Weak points: 1) compared to original location on westheimer, the ambiance is horrible. original is not noisy, however this location was louder than a cafeteria.
2) even though restaurant is 3x larger than westheimer location, they only had one person cleaning tables. he could not keep up as people had to hunt for tables.
3) couple next to use was asked to move cause large group was complaining they were sitting in the sun. couple moved, however it was inappropriate for mgr to ask them to move because they were already seated.
4) having art on walls in original location is great! this location sadly lacks ambiance.
5) sadly crowd is not diverse like original location. seems almost suburban.
6) i asked to see mgr to offer up my concerns and he never appeared. this would NEVER happen at original location.

MY REVIEW: Paulie's is a wonderful little restaurant with a big menu and not so big prices. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. Counter service and pager coasters let you know when your food is ready. Prices range from $6 salads, $8-$13 pasta dishes, $6-$8 sandwiches, individual pizza's around $7 and grilled entrees range from $10-$16.
Tonight I had the Pasta Fusilli with pesto, olives and pine nuts. The portion was huge and it was served with 2 wonderful slices of slightly buttered and toasted bread. The pesto was definitely the star of this dish with the basil taking center stage! Very filling and rather tasty.
The atmosphere is cozy with a nicely lit dining area, perfect for a quick bite or dinner with a date. Paulies rates high with me and other patrons as the place was near capacity. I can't wait to try other menu items.
