MY REVIEW: I thought I got on a plane and went back to Brooklyn. As soon as I opened the door I could smell the sour pickles...I thought I was in heaven. No complaints here only praise. Ask for Tyla, she was great. Can't wait to go back for another meal.

MY REVIEW: We love this place and will be regulars! We have enjoyed the corn beef sandwich, knockwurst and found the cabbage was a little undercooked in the corn beef and cabbage. The service was excellent. We have been at off peak times which was quieter than the full house. The pickles they put on the table are very good. The servings are large and they seem happy to split servings. The carrot cake is as good as grandma use to make!

MY REVIEW: I've never been real impressed with service the 3 times i've visited and I try to understand that its always lunch when I go in. But today was a treat. The food I order was first class with plenty of it. The waitress I had was very good at what she did. Compotent, fast and polite. This was a first out of several times visiting that I actually got both quality food and service. I recommend next time your in , sit in Lindas area.

Over all- This could be a GREAT place to dine if Managment would step back, take a look and make a few changes.

MY REVIEW: I grew up in NY, I know good deli and this is it. Thank goodness Houston has at least one decent deli (and NY B*agels on 9724 Hillcroft ain't half-bad, either). For those of you that think $10 is too much for a turkey sandwich or that K*atz's is a suitable alternative (see below)…You're clueless! Go back to O*live Garden!

MY REVIEW: I must eat at this restaurant at least 2 times a week. The arrival of Kenny and Ziggy's to Houston over five years ago has made this city an authentic international melting pot for food lovers. The chicken soup at K & Z reminds me of my Bubbie's - no wonder it has won the Houston Chicken Soup Contest numerous years in a row! I've never tasted better (Sorry Bubbie)! If you want a mile high sandwich with four different meats, a sample of the best Pastrami in the U.S., an open-faced Reuben large enough to feed a small country, or an eclair spilling over its own plate...you've GOT to eat at this restaurant. The cleverness of the menu - especially the section on "How to Speak Deli" - really takes you back in time. Ideal things to eat at Kenny & Ziggy's include the following: Cheese Blintzes, Chicken Soup, #15 - Swiss & Shout, #1 - Fiddler on the Roof of Your Mouth, Fan Tan Fannie's Famous Snapper, Hungarian Style Stuffed Cabbage, Hester Street Chicken, Genghis Cohen's Chines Chicken Salad, the Tiki Salad, a slice of chessecake, a HUGE black & white cookie, a good 'ol fashioned egg cream...the list goes on. The prices at K & Z are fair - especially for the amount of food you are given. Each time I go to K & Z a second meal is coming home with me. Basically...the place is a gift to Houston. When you go ask for Claudette, Beverly or Jon! Don't waste another second and run to Post Oak NOW! You may see me there...again!!

MY REVIEW: I was anxious to try this place as it's right near my work. That will be my first and last visit. $10 for a turkey sandwich? Yes, that's $10 for meat, two slices of bread, lettuce, and tomato. No thanks.

MY REVIEW: GREAT SERVICE!! I have been to Kenny & Ziggy's many times, and the food is always very good, but the waiter we had for a Sunday brunch, when the place was hopping was EXCELLENT!! Jon was by far the BEST waiter I have ever had!! He was prompt, polite, on top of our orders and served with a smile. He had several tables, and we were a large group. Every order came out right!! He even brought water without us having to ask!! Next time I go to Kenny & Ziggy's, I hope he will be there, because I will definitely request his table!

MY REVIEW: Excellent!! You can't get better NY style diner food in Houston. The portions are huge and have a menu with every possible thing on it. The matzo ball soup is delicious. You never leave hungry and the the food is tasty. The service is a bit slow but this isn't M*cDonalds fast food, it's great to come sit and chat with friends and have great food. You have got to try it.

MY REVIEW: My family and I were in Houston for Boo at the ZOO( we live in Beaumont) and tried Kenny & Ziggy's for the first time. The food was great, but the service was horrible! Our waiter would not refill our drinks or even come back to take our order. After we finally got our food, we asked for to go containers( the portions are huge) and after 10 minutes my wife went to the counter and got them herself. We expressed our dissappointment as we checked out and heard one of the other waiters complaining about him also. If you ever want our business again you will have to do much better because our experience was ruined.

MY REVIEW: I was really anxious to try this palce out but from the moment we walked through the door it went downhill. The host was not the smartest-put our name on a list-another host came on and started seating people as they walked through the door-as we waited patiently-finally my mother had had it & spoke up to the current host who very rudely told us to wait our turn-so we left. We stood there looking at the menu for about 10 minutes and saw lots of yummy things! But he ruined our experience-I understand its a NY deli but we arent NY so no need to be rude & hateful. I wills tick to Kat*'s where they are always friendly and we arent ignored.

MY REVIEW: There were four of us at Kenny and Ziggy's on a Saturday night. The restaurant was not crowded at all, somehing rather unusual I thought.

I decided to order the chicken in a pot which I had had one prevous tiime and enjoyed Not this time. The pot was supposed to be filled with half a chicken, vegetables, noodles, kreplach (kind of like a wonton) and matzoh ball.

There was a half a chicken - in one whole piece. Luckily the waitress gave me a separate plate to put it on as it was very difficult to cut it otherwise.

There was one lone carrot in the pot. This is their idea of vegetables? What happened to the celery and the onions? Were they missing in action? I asked the waitress for more vegetables. She replied that they only used carrots in the soup and she would bring me some. She returned with a cup and when I looked in it there were four measly slices of carrots. Only one matzoh ball as well as in the soup. I felt this was not up to their usual standards.

The four of us split a dessert - 7-layer cake. That was very good.

MY REVIEW: I actually schedule my business trip to Houston to include lunch at the best deli I have ever dined at. We made sure we left a client's office in time to get to Kenny and Ziggy's for lunch. We'll be back in September!

MY REVIEW: Don't see how people can complain about the prices when the servings are huge. If you want a light sandwich, don't go to Kenny & Ziggy's. Service doesn't seem slow to me but wouldn't choose it for a run in, eat, and run out meal. When I'm craving breakfast of cheesecake or chopped liver at any hour, there's nowhere else to go in Houston.

MY REVIEW: Love the food, hate the service and the WAITING. Having nothing better to do, I watched as the lady at the front used some sort of random method for seating. I guess you need to know the right people, and we were not the right people. I have to go when I am in a good mood. I habe no patience for the front staff, but the food when you DO get in is heavenly.

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: the meats are very high quality (especially the brisket). And the portions of the deli meats are quite large, usually with enough for your lunch and some leftovers to take home. This is by far the best thing K&Z's has going for it. (although as others have pointed out, the pastrami is just so-so)

Weak Points: The prices are just too high for what you get. No complaints about the deli meats (or portions) - they're great. But unless you planning to just chow down on a big wad of meat, you'll probably want a sandwich platter -- and they're very disappointing. For starters, the side dishes are ridiculously small - a good mouthful is about it. And the sandwich breads are low quality, barely a notch above wonder bread.

Service: The service is slow and the waitstaff aren't very attentive. It's like being fed on a assembly line. Perhaps this is an effort to replicate the New York City atmosphere -- problem is, this ain't New York.

Conclusion: K&Z's is a definitely a one trick pony. Try it for yourself. But my advice is to go straight to the deli counter and get the meat to go -- then pick up a decent loaf of bread on the way home.

MY REVIEW: I generally go to 2 story deli but I'm starting to relish the good service I get at K&Z's. The sandwiches are ridiculously huge and 1 can feed two easily. I really like the egg salad and the liverwurst. Both are made on site it turns out. The nova is really tasty but the bagels remind me of cheap frozen toaster bagels you get at a supermarket.

The best thing is the scrambled matzo brei. I've tried countless times at home to recreate it but just can't get it as good as they make it. Plus the sugar and cinnamon on an egg dish, I would have never thought of that. Great, now I'm hungry....

MY REVIEW: This is hands-down the BEST deli in Houston. You have never experienced a deli sandwich unless you got it from K & Z's! I took two of my friends there for the first time today and their jaws dropped to the floor when their sandwiches came out. You definitely get your monies worth here! Today, I ordered the hot open-faced roast beef sandwich with gravy. Excellent!! We then had apple pie a'la mode and toffee coffee cake for dessert...To die for!! The waitstaff was outstanding! We even got a personal visit to our table from Ziggy himself. If you want to give K & Z's a try for lunch, I suggest you get there by 11:30 because the place fills up fast.

MY REVIEW: The real deal in Houston - K&Z's is exactly what you expect when you hear NY Deli. The food is exceptional, and the portions are huge. The Nova melts in your mouth, and they have the best bagels are the best in town.

Service is generally good, and responsive but has it's moments.

MY REVIEW: Food is very, very good and as close as you can get to a New York deli without going to New York.

The photos and gags on the walls are ridiculous. In the more famous New York delis, the walls are coated with photos from celebrities who've eaten there and their testimonials. Since Ziggy's doesn't have that kind of clientele, they've taken random celebrity photos and have substituted bad puns for testimonials. It's unnecessary and clownish and really the only bad thing about Ziggy's.

The service is very hit & miss, but in a real New York deli, the service would almost always be poor, so it's hard to fault this place.

MY REVIEW: The food was wonderful! The service was polite but had to ask for our water to be refilled every time. The menu selection is HUGE! As are the portions. The only negative: The hostess at lunch was quite rude and not at all friendly. She needs to smile a bit and lighten up.

MY REVIEW: Another one of my favorite restaurants in town. Sure, they're a little pricey but if take a buddy who will split something with you, you still get plenty of food at half the price. And the food is very good. Soups are delicious. I come here when I need a bagel & lox fix. Service is either very good or lousy - after awhile, you figure out what server to avoid ;).

MY REVIEW: We've been here many more times than 6, but I'm not sure they know us by name. =) We absolutely love this place. We did go to K*atz's Deli once, and we won't ever go back, even though a friend swears by K*atz's. Our service here every single time is IMPECCABLE. Not all of the wait staff is bubbly and cheerful, but every order has always been correct AND I never have to ask for refills on drinks, even when they are especially busy. The food is outstanding, and even though it's pricey, it's well worth it, especially to try some different foods and different preparations. Just share, share, share because there's entirely TOO much food!
