MY REVIEW: I would just like to say the food is excellent especially the entrees it is well worth the drive and the entertainment is great we need more places like this in houston who know how to barbcue instead of boiling and calling it texas barbcue.

MY REVIEW: The food is so good. I take out of guest here to get some real Texas BBQ. I was so lucky last time because we got there when the "live entertainment" was taking his dinner break. I believe that the owners are cleaver. They get you to eat less of the buffet because you start to loose your appetite from the so called "entertainer." That's my only problem with the place. I asked the girl at the counter why he was singing there and she told me he is the owners friend. Here's to hoping the owner gets new friends. I will still eat there though. Just eat fast and get out before your ears bleed.

MY REVIEW: This was my first visit and I will be back. The food was great for considering it was a buffett. They had alot of foods to choose from. I read about the cowboy and was lucky enough to be there on his off day. I think he comes wed thru sun, not 100% sure though. Loved it!

MY REVIEW: Everybody SHOULD know my name. I'm sure they know my face. I've been eating at Larry's since they were in that old shack on hempstead and windfern....and used to give change with 2 dollar bills. The food has been consistenty good for all these years, and at a good price. We almost never eat in any more, instead we usually get a "trail pack" to go. The #2 will feed a family of five including 2 big "tweenage" boys. It is a good price for "to go" with any size crowd. Keep up the good work. .......gotta go pick up my order..........

MY REVIEW: Larry's Bar-B-Q should change their name to Larry's Salads. All of the salads (Crab, Tuna, etc) were REALLY good but as far as the Bar-B-Q, I thought it was tasteless and plain. You have to really work to get any meat off the ribs. A lot of the other food was dripping in grease and just plain unimpressive for the price. I went for the bar-b-q and ended up eating mostly salad. About $26 for two people. I would not recommend. Nice place though.

MY REVIEW: I've been to Larry's many times. Today I treated two co-workers. I told them in the parking lot "I hope the Cowboy Singer isn't here". He was, And they don't doubt me anymore when I say he is the worst singer any of us had ever heard. I would pay him not to sing. The food is consistantly above average. Other than the "Cowboy Singer" it is a great place to eat!!

MY REVIEW: I discovered this resteraunt through the B4-U-Eat website. After seeing all of the positive reviews I decided to give it a try, and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. The variety of the food was quite impressive. Larry's offers both full salad and desert bars, in addition to the main (hot) bar. On the main bar, a person can find (among other things) both beef and pork ribs, baked beans, brisket, sliced sausage, steak fries, roasted chicken, roasted pork, and soft rolls. Some have complained that the desert bar is too plain --- they offer treats like rice pudding, oreo cookies (a childhood favorite), chocolate-chip-and-M&M cookies, chocolate cake, and cheesecake (the best I've had outside of New York).
Prices range from $9.00 - $14.00, depending on which day you happen to visit. Payment is made up front, so you do not feel pressured to leave. Save for the occasional visit from a busser, all service is handled by the customer (which saves said customer the additional price of a tip).
The atmosphere is pleasant enough, and the layout of the establishment is suitable to making the customer feel comfortable (i.e. not closed in). The only potential "worry" that I can think of is the live entertainment --- a singing cowboy. While I am not personally a fan of live singing or country music, his presence there is not at all obtrusive.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with my dining experience at Larry's Bar-B-Q Buffet. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.
Mikey likes it.

MY REVIEW: The singing cowboy was wearing a blue shirt? Everytime I go in he's wearing a T-shirt. We decided as long this guy sings there we going to stop going there. As anther had sais he walks around and try to sing and sits at the table again try to sing with paying customers that trying to eat. I be afraid I would walk out if he would try that with us of course I would try to get a refund, so it's better I will not be back on till then. Please let us know if and when he leaves.

MY REVIEW: This was our first time there and probably will not be our last. The food is as excellent as people have said. My husband was not crazy about the coleslaw, tho, and I did not touch it as it was not creamy.
We liked the meat and vegetables. The xango/vanilla ice cream mix was not an ideal dessert. My husband had just a plain vanilla cone and said he could not tell the difference. We both grabbed a cookie onthe way out. A spice cookeie. Probably next time I will do the puddings and cantaloupe for dessert as I do at other places. But it was my birthday treat and it was just great.
Now for the cowboy. I am retrorock and classic anything. My husband says what this guy sings sounds like 93Q. I didn't hear a song I knew but having been forewarned of the singing I had low expectations and they stayed there. I do not call a denim shirt and blue jeans a cowboy by any stretch of the imagination. No kerchief, no hat, and no guitar. Just a microphone. And prerecorded music to sing by. He came close to us, back in the back, a few times and I just concentrated on my food.
We both drank water only and I found the glass startlingly small compared to what I guess you get if you get something from the fountain. I was pleased to see real glass bottle Dr. Pepper, 7-up. Others.
we will go back. eventually.

MY REVIEW: I had been there several times. I would go more often if they get rid of that so-called singing cowboy. It was bad enough when he stayed put but now he has a wireless mike and he bounce around the tables and some times sit at the table with people trying to eat when he singing his 1-2 baritone note songs.

MY REVIEW: Well, despite the one bad review I've seen on this page, I've lived in Houston all my life, and Larry's is one of my favorite bbq places. I don't get to go very often because it's a bit far from where I live, but it's worth the drive. As far as I know, it's the only bbq buffet, in Houston, that has everything I love. From the baked beans, to the fresh salad, the selections of meat and the wonderful desserts. It truly has it all, and this is from someone who has no affiliation with the restaurant as far as workers, or owners are concerned...lol
I would suggest this restaurant to anyone who love good food at a great price.
-Cheers :)

MY REVIEW: A co-woker from Morraco(Africa), told me about the place. He said the food was very good for the price (~$11 and all you can eat, including drink) and that there was a cowboy singing classic country music. I have grown fond of classic country and decided to go, as I am a HUGE fan of BBQ. The food was fresh, tasty and there was a good selection even though they were virtually empty. I like the chicken, Ribs and sausage best. The brisket was good but more marbled than I like. I liked the singer and he takes most requests. I tip him $5 each time I go. My family has gone on subsiquent visits and they all like the food; and the fact that the cowboy let my 5 year old neice sing with him and he encourged her shy singing. He was also courtious enough to suggest that we sit far from the speakers since we brought my 2 month old nephew with us on one visit and he wanted to protect the baby's hearing. The two complaints I have of the place are, #1 they close fairly early (around 8pm) and #2 they need more trash cans to through away the garbage when done.
I have been several times and plan on going back when I decide to cheat on my diet agian.
P.S. I have lost 113lbs in the last 9 months ocasionally eating food like this.

MY REVIEW: Outstanding BBQ - Great Pork Ribs and Brisket - buffett seems to stay well supplied even when there's a rush (we were there on Mothers Day) - HORRIBLE LOUD "one-man-band" "singer" - I was tempted to pay him to be quiet (we were the ONLY people in there on a later Wednesday) but I hate to reward such incompetence - call FIRST to find out when the singer has a day off

MY REVIEW: The food is great. all have that great SMOKEY flavor beef and pork ribs are excellent. and its a buffet. the only thing is that HORRIBLE singer they have that will annoy you while you are trying to enjoy your meal. so bring your appetite and a set of ear plugs and you will not regret it. i give it 5 stars!

MY REVIEW: The past few entries must be submitted by the owners friends or family...I have been here a couple of times and have yet, to be impressed with the buffet. The meat is a bit on the "dried out" side. (What I would expect from a "buffet"). Theere is better bbque around H-town!

MY REVIEW: We take out of town visitors here to sample good barbecue. The variety and the price is right. I cannot get beyond the beef brisket. It is so great. I have tasted the ribs and chicken and they are wonderful, but I keep reaching for the brisket. My significant other raves about the potato salad and he cannot pass up the ribs.

MY REVIEW: The Best BBQ in Town! Larry's is the best BBQ I have ever tried, and its the only BBQ Buffet that I have ever seen. They have Ribs, Brisket, two kinds of sausage, Chicken, and all the side items that you would want. The Dessert bar and the Tea are good too. The Atmosphere is nice and clean. It's so good you will lick your finger, but don't pay no mind to the singer!

MY REVIEW: I was at work and my husband brought me a rib plate. (He's so sweet) It included the patatoes and beans. I was in heaven. They have always excited my taste buds. Me and my husband had been there before and the buffet is just wonderful, they had a lot of things to choose from as always and the food is always fresh. They only not so good thing about them is... they're not open 24hrs. I give them 5 stars.

MY REVIEW: Recommended by a friend,I was not dissapointed. There was plenty to choose from. A large varity of sides, all my favorites and then some. Who expects to have shrimp cocktail at a B.B.Q buffet? And it was good! I'm not a rib person, but these were so tender and good. Everything was seasoned perfectly. Would recommend it to everyone.

MY REVIEW: At first glance you would wonder. But the food was to die for. There was pleanty of food, they keep good rotation of hot food. The peel and eat shrimps were well seasoned. The dinner rolls were big and hot. The ribs were tender. The green salad had a variety to choose from. The deserts had a wide selection to choose from as well. And the live entertainment was a plus.

MY REVIEW: We were first time visitors (all you can eat $10.00 per person and the price of drinks). Overall we were impressed. We've been to a few BBQ places in Houston (S*mokey Bones, L*uther's, and G*ood Company). This one was the best because it's all you can eat. Our ranking would be: Larry's 1st, L*uther's & S*mokey Bones tied for 2nd, and G*ood Company BBQ dead last). Everything was absolutely very good at Larry's. The meats (Ribs, chicken, briskets, ends) were all very good and fresh. In addition, Larry's has a very nice assortment of veggies, salad bar selections, and dessert options, so if your not a meat eater you'll definitely be able to find other things to eat. This was definitely a keeper and a place we'll go, if we want non homemade BBQ.

MY REVIEW: As a native Houstonian, I LOVE BBQ! As far as I know, this the ONLY BBQ buffet in town. Seniors gladly get a discount. They have more offerings of foods than many buffets with a standard salad bar, many "home cooked" veggies, fresh fruit, deserts and, of course, their BBQ. This includes brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage and chopped beef for baked potatoe stuffing. There are 2 kinds of chicken and 2 types of sausage. Yes, the ribs are not the best, but one of the sausages is so lean and tasty, it makes me think of excellent venison. The flavor of all the BBQ is quite good. For all they offer, at under $8 (drinks extra), I don't see how they make any profit. This is definitely a bargain and worth trying. I have eaten here many times over the past 5 years and it is always very good and a great value!

MY REVIEW: I went here after the L*arrys/Country line on 1960 next to r*oberts carpet closed down and turned into the g*olden bean. I don't know the dymanics behind the move or what have you but the BBQ buffet on 1960 was pretty good. So when I heard there was a larrys on 290 I zoomed on over. Well I've been here 3 times or so, and the price is pretty high for a buffet, but I'm willing to pay the extra price for all you can eat mind you. The ribs are dry and tiny, if you like gnawing on bones youre in luck. Everything else is low quality meat, with the sides being the better than the BBQ. If you like beans and mashed potatoes and other sides, then go here. If you are looking for good BBQ, I'm sad to say keep driving. I really wanted Larry's to be good but it isn't
