MY REVIEW: My first visit today, and all I can say is "oh my god." I am not a big eater, meaning I limit the amount I eat, but this place is a real pig fest. You get a lot of food for the money, and the food is fresh and very good. They were serving a few fried items, but they also had baked chicken. They offer a green salad and several cooked veggies. The collard greens were nice and green (not from a can). I had the fried chicken, and I had to share it with my friend because it was so plentiful. I had a bite of my friend's fried catfish, and it was perfect. It was dusted with cornmeal and lightly salted, and the meat was very moist. You must try this place.

MY REVIEW: The first time I visited the Texas Cafeteria was back in the seventies, and I have been a regular ever since. If you want some real down home southern cooking, then this is the place. The cucumber/tomato salad is, without a doubt, the best I have ever tasted. Wish I had the recipe. They don’t serve beer or wine, but they have some of the best home brewed tea in town. The decor is small town country cafe type. Not the kind of place your fast food yuppie types would care for I'm sure. I would highly recommend TC to everyone interested in some authentic home style country cooking.

MY REVIEW: One reviewer complained about unhealty food. Today at lunch I had baked chicken, beans, fresh mixed vegetables, and cucumber salad.Nothing was greasy or salty.Yes, you can load up on gravy and other items but that is by choice. The reviewer stated the place was not clean and servers were surly. I have been here many times and noted how clean and friendly the people were.

MY REVIEW: This is a small steam-table-cafeteria type place. It's close to our office so we go often. It is popular with area blue collar workers. The neighborhood is questionable, the decor leaves a lot to be desired (unless you are obsessed with hunting), and there is usually a fishing show on the corner tv. Do not go if you are a snob about any of these things. But if you like home cooking, generous portions, a fast service tray line, good desserts, and low prices, check it out.

MY REVIEW: What a fantastic lunch. The service is great, friendly, water glass never empty, food is wonderful home style, large portions at a great price. Lots of character inside but not too prettty outside but par for neighborhood. Cant wait to try the breakfast.

MY REVIEW: I don't understand how this placed got so many good reviews. The food was bland at best and downright unhealthy. The service was below the standards of your average fast food joint, as we were sneered at when we approached the counter and rushed through the line with not so much as a thank you at checkout. It was dingy, unsanitary and the photos of dead animals everywhere was downright creepy. Add to that a blaring television in the corner and it made for an all around unpleasant gastronomical event.

MY REVIEW: My Husband and I have become regulars here. It's a great place to eat/hang out.
We have gotten all our friends "hooked" also! It's def our fav breakfast spot.
If we're lucky, we go most days during the week, and then again on Saturday.
The French Toast is fantastic!!--I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

MY REVIEW: A friend took us here a couple of weeks ago for lunch and the food was fantastic! We went back there today and it was just as good, if not better. You just can't get good ol' English pea salad like that anymore unless your momma makes it! Fantastic food, comfortable cuisine and affordable prices! We'll be back!

MY REVIEW: Great for breakfast or lunch. I ordered their Christmas dinner for $65 that was supposed to feed 10 people... it fed 15 easily. Everyone commented on how good everything tasted. It was really an incredible deal. I plan on ordering from them every year from now on.

MY REVIEW: When my father was alive this was the kind of place you could not keep him out of. The walls are covered with hunting and fishing memorabilia. A group of old timers sit in the corner and discuss what ever it is that old timers discuss. Refills on coffee and tea are done without you having to speak up. And the food! The food is what my grandmother cooked in her kitchen when my father was a little boy. Good and filling. Nothing here is jerked or curried or even blacken beyond recognition. It is just your basic meat and potatoes kind of place. And there are sometimes this is just what you need.

its like i stepped into the 80's and i'm enjoying all the great food from my past.

MY REVIEW: Do not let the outside scare you off. Texas Cafeteria has been around for a while. the food is good and the price is fair for what they offer. The owners are big fishing fans they were playing a saltwater fishing video while we were there. So I give it a go if you are in the area. Remember Mambo knows food.
