MY REVIEW: My favorite haunt in Houston - for cappucino, chicken salad or the veggie sandwich, any muffin, any quiche, any soup, the fresh cesar salad, the delicious cakes, the used copies of New York Times, the simple friendly ambience. Nothing matches Croissant Brioche in Houston. It is surprising that so many of my friends have never been there.

MY REVIEW: This place reminds me of a European cafe so many ways: it's tiny, crowded, mom & pop-ish, sometimes short-staffed (but they're always pleasant!)...at any point you'll be squeezing in w/individuals who are solo with their coffee, croissant, & newspaper...and w/European families w/children in tow. Most importantly, this is the closest I've found in Houston for authentically baked French goods.

I'm starting to branch out from the usual croissant & latte in the mornings and baguettes for dinner. We took a chance and ordered an apple tart for a dinner party the other week. It was BEAUTIFUL and must've taken forever to make. We served it w/creme fraiche picked up from the grocery store. It reminded us of Paris and the guests loved it - just the right amount of tartness & sweetness.

The only thing that confuses me is why all the coffee on the menu is in Italian (espresso, latte, etc.) instead of French (serre, creme, cafe au lait, etc.)...but I'm guessing it's because Americans aren't as familiar with the French coffee terms? In any case, this is one of our favorite places in the Village...hope you get a chance to check it out!

MY REVIEW: What a lovely little cafe. The ambiance is perfect. Everytime I go, I get the chicken salad sandwhich on a baguette. They have really great desserts. I LOVE the Tart. It is a $4 taste of heaven with a chocolate layer, vanilla custard, fresh raspberries and apricot glaze. Beautiful.

The only downside is the way the seating area is setup. It is way too crowded and cramps the vibrant style I think the owner was going for. Maybe by removing one table and rearranging the area to have a bit more breathing room.

MY REVIEW: Today was my first time to visit Croissant Brioche. I've passed it so many times just walking around in the Village and I don't regret walking into the cafe today. It's just like a little cafe in Paris, with the most delectable pastries. They have buttery brioches and to die for croissants. I would give the ham and cheese or the almond croissant a try. They also have authentic Parisian coffee. The only thing that gets me is that all the food (breads and quiches) are warmed in the microwave. I guess you have to get there extra early to get hot food. Overall, I would definitely go back there!

MY REVIEW: I love this place! The sandwiches are fresh and tasty, but the best thing is the French pastries. They taste very similar to the ones I had in France, plus there is usually someone there that speaks French which is a nice added bonus. I go anytime I can!

MY REVIEW: This is the most authentically French bakery I have found in Houston. Ham & Cheese croissants and moccha muffins are rather for the American palate and plain breads and pastries are very "artisanal" French.

MY REVIEW: The Mocha Muffins are to die for!!! That is, if they can ever bake enough. On many occasions, they ran out of these heavenly muffins. I just wish they would make more knowing these muffins are sooooo popular and run out so quickly. Time for another muffin run. I've learned my lesson and will call first. If you happen to visit this place and they DO have some Mocha Muffins left, you owe it to yourself to try it!
