Profile Description: Located in the heart of Houston's Energy Corridor, Ashiana Indian Restaurant has gained popularity with Houstonions who love Indian Cuisine with a good bottle of Wine. Ashiana's Wine Cellars boast a vast collection of labels from around the world. Authentic Indian dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala, Sikandari Raan, Chaat, grace the menu at Ashiana. We offer private rooms for events and a larger banquet room for about 150 people.

MY REVIEW: I think Ashiana is a very good restaurant..over the years they have maintained a very consistent flavor in thier food and ambience. Having said that, I would also like to add that in comparison to the half a dozen restaurants who tailgated on Ashiana's success in the Briar forest/Eldridge area..Ashiana still comes out as a winner.Customers need to remember that this is an ethnic restaurant..not a high profile steakhouse, where all the staff are english speaking and turn over more than hundreds of dollars in tips.

When and if, you do encounter a few glitches in service..complain to the manager instead of whining about it on an internet review board, atleast you get the problem solved, not lower the self esteem of hardworking immigrants.

MY REVIEW: What a disappointment! We have been coming to Ashiana for years and especially enjoyed it when K*iran was the chef/owner. Now, however, it seems that the prices have risen while the service has become abysmal. There were only a few other occupied tables when we arrived but, as a previous reviewer has mentioned, the service was non-existent even though there were several waitstaff hanging around doing nothing. We ordered a bottle of wine and asked for menus. About ten minutes later we were told that our choice of wine was not available but still were not given menus. Finally my husband got up and went to get menus himself while at least three waiters watched! We decided that the ambiance was depressing, the prices were outrageous and the staff couldn't have cared less so we left and had a delicious meal elsewhere. We will not be back.

MY REVIEW: We visited on a Friday night and had the Ashiana Feast, which included 4 dishes, soup and salad, and dessert - and was more than enough food for the two of us. We thought the food was very flavorful, although I would've preferred a little more spice. The presentation of the food and ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful. However, the service was terrible - it was disorganized and excruciatingly slow. I don't know why as the restaurant did not appear overly busy, and the waiters seemed like they were running around doing something. For some reason the host who sat us only gave us the beverage menu. Nearly 10 minutes past before we flagged down someone to give us a food menu. When someone finally came by to get our drink orders, we seized the opportunity to tell him our food order as well. It seemed like tables around us were having similar issues. At the end of the meal, we had to flag down someone for the check. Dinner took about an hour an half - most of it waiting time. Thankfully we didn't have anywhere to be! I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, it's just such a shame that the service did not live up to nearly the same standard.

MY REVIEW: Ashiana is my favorite Indian Restaurant in Houston. The food is tasty and service is good. It is a little pricey though the food is totally worth the money. I recommend going to the lunch buffet and gorging on the Lamb Rogan Josh.

MY REVIEW: Ashiana's food is good, but they are very very expensive, even for Indian food. In my opinion, it wasn't worth paying that much. When I went there, they served an extremely spicy curry but did not refill our water drinks!! I was dying over there from the spiciness and eventually had to go complain to the manager to get water brought over. That is nuts... I won't be back.

MY REVIEW: Pricey even by Indian food standards but quite tasty. My bf isn't a big Indian food fan but he likes this place, so it gets points for that. The Tikka Masala is pretty decent, a little oversweet but not badly so. The samosas are very tasty. I am going to look for another less expensive place that is also good but until then I will probably go here since the guy will eat it.

MY REVIEW: Ashiana has always been my favorite over the years. In the past few years,I have grown to admire the resilience of this restaurant inspite of so many new restaurants mushrooming all over Houston. We are always treated well, no request has been ignored, and our guests have been made to feel like royalty. The staff works with a conscience, and the Owner Ms.Bathija always stops by to check on us .The Mutter paneer. Bhindi Masala , Lamb chop Masala are fab. They can make a dish spicier or milder according to your request. Thank you Latika Bathija for making this one of the best Indian curry house in Houston.PS: They have the BEST Naan in the USA!!!!!!

MY REVIEW: I have been wanting to visit Ashiana for a few years now based on great reviews and its reputation. Living downtown it took me that long to finally get out there! It was definitely worth the drive. Unlike some of the other reviews from last year, I found the service to be great. The waiter was friendly but not overbearing, and the owner walked around towards the end of our meal checking on everything, which isn't common and I like.

The price was surprising - the wines were very reasonably priced (and a great selection) however the food seemed to be a little steep given the size of traditional indian plates. My husband and I opted for the Ashiana feast for 2, which at $60 seemed like great value because it had a good cross-section of the menu. It had salad or soup, 4 mains including chicken tikka, lamb rogan josh, prawn bhuta and a vege dish, naan and rice). The food was fantastic; great flavours and more than enough to fill us (and we both have big appetites so this is a good thing!) We actually boxed some up to take home for lunch! Very impressed.

MY REVIEW: We had a business lunch with out-of-town customers who simply loved the food, ambience and the service.... take a bow Ashiana. The owner made us all feel very warm and welcome and even explained all the dishes to our out of town guests. We are having another meeting again and the guests want to go back to Ashiana again for their food.

Good ambience, very good personalized service and above all great food.

MY REVIEW: Ashiana has good food but the prices are too high. The dinner plates were at least $20 a plate. There are plenty of Indian restaurants that do a better job and are more reasonable. My favorite is S*hiva off Times Blvd in Rice Village.

MY REVIEW: Ashiana is undoubtedly the best Indian restaurant in Houston. The quality of the food, service and ambiance has remained consistent over the years that I have frequented it. The buffet is absolutley fantastic, and since I work close by , my colleagues and I frequent it as often as possible. I have visited Ashiana at dinner, and I can confidently say, this is the best place to treat a guest, colleague, friend or family to Indian food. Good work !! My best wishes to the owner Latika Bathija, who with her graceful presence and etiquette has won our hearts.

MY REVIEW: I believe in second chances. Visited Ashiana a couple times, both times there has been no 'service' whatsoever. We practically had to seat ourselves. The waiters 'threw' a few glances at us every once in a while.

The menu looked promising. We ordered (after about 15 mins of trying to get attention from the staff) the Tomato soup, Salmon tikka, Chilean sea bass, the chicken tikka platter & some saag paneer.

The soup was watery, the Salmon obviously starving. The chicken was very good, nice & succulent, quite devoid of any seasonings though. The Chilean sea bass is the most overrated dish I ve ever tried. The famed mushroom rice was hard to find on the plate, the fish was nice again deviod of any seasonings though.

The owner walked past us indifferently many a times. The staff is very miserly on manners.

The portions were so tiny we had to get a late night snack at I*HOP. I 'd like to suggest B4-U-EAT to check their "price range" estimates for this restaurant. Average per person goes to at least $35 ( not 25) & can still leave you quite hungry. I wouldn't go to Ashiana again.

MY REVIEW: Love Ashiana!! Dismayed to read the review the previous fellas had about my favorite restaurant, amazed that he/she keeps going back in any case. The food is great, and the Owner is very observant and always on the floor to check on the customers. I cannot understand what the other two guys are complaining about?

MY REVIEW: I was interested to see the comments by "dissatisfied x regular customer" made in March. I agree totally. I have frequented this restaurant on many occasions and am a regular for a take-out (1-3 times per month). The service and genuine care about customers has declined since the new owner took over. The manager seems to be very uninterested. I could go on at length about how dissapointed I am with the decline of this place. When I first visited I thought I had found the best Indian restaurant I had ever eaten at. Now, whilst the food is still excellent the other aspects which make a restaurant top class are no longer there.

MY REVIEW: Good food.. very good service. Calm and relaxed ambience.. I always take a book along when I eat alone, the waiter noticed I had a book in my hand and seated me at a well lit table. I appreciate the gesture. The Curried Crab Pepper is wonderful as an appetizer, and for dessert try the creamy yogurt speciality Shrikhand. I visit Houston, when my company has a project, and i intend to try and visit it regularly. I truly recommend Ashiana to all your readers.

MY REVIEW: This is a very fine restaurant. It is a place where you can take a business associate, confidently. I was very impressed by the food, the ambience, and even more by the owner, who was the first person to greet us as we walked through the door. Throughout our meal, my business partner was under the impression, I was a special or regular customer. No need to say, that meeting was very succesful. I intend taking all my important guests and my family to this beautiful restaurant. The appetizers were very good. The owner Latika suggested a Chaat Platter.. and she personally guided us how to dress it up with the chutneys and sauces. I walked out feeling like a KING!! This has been by far my best diing experience in Houston.

MY REVIEW: Consistently good food and service, make this a place to visit confidently with guests, business associates or friends. They have never failed too impress my family on every occasion we have been there. We were always hesitant to take our kids(ages7 and 5) , but on our last visit we really feel Ashiana deserves an award for catering to every need of thier customer, whether its business or casual with family. The owner herself attended to our table and sent us some mild kababs for the children. Our Children loved Ashiana and thier first taste of Indian Cuisine. The Wine list was very impressive too. We will be back again and again...

MY REVIEW: Good ambience..excellent wine list...good looking staff..great food...if you havent tried Indian food before, or are trying to introduce a reluctant friend THIS IS THE PLACE!!!. Dont be fooled by the humble exterior..this restaurant is Houstons best kept secret in Indian cuisine. Love the Rack of Lamb and Chicken Tikka Masala...cannot compare it to any other Indian place inside or outside the loop..Its simply the best..Servers are ready to help with the menu..and the wine list is extensive and perfectly coordinated. We highly recommend this to all our friends.

MY REVIEW: LOVE ASHIANA!!!!. We visited last saturday and had a wonderful time...live close by, but never ventured in till last week...The Chilean Sea Bass served with Mushroom Biriyani was great! Service was wonderful, and the owner, a young woman was very helpful in her suggestions on the menu. The wine selections are extensive, and most suitably suggested by our waiter. We had a wonderful time, and we will be back!!

MY REVIEW: THIS IS THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN HOUSTON...WHEN I SAY THAT.. I MEAN IN TERMS OF SERVICE, QUALITY OF FOOD AND AMBIENCE. WE ATTENDED A CEREMONY A FEW WEEKS BACK AT THE PARSI HALL CATERED BY ASHIANA...THE CATERING WAS FOR 300 PEOPLE..I HAVE NOT EATEN SUCH GOOD FOOD SINCE MY DAYS IN LONDON..GLAD TO HAVE FOUND A PLACE WE CAN PROUDLY HOST A DINNER OR LUNCH WITHOUT WORRYING. THE SERVICE AT THE EVENT WAS PERFECT AND THE FOOD DID NOT RUN OUT. THEY SERVED A DELICIOUS GOAT BIRIYANI( MY FAVORITE) AND THE BEST SALMON IN THE WORLD WITH CRANBERRY SAUCE AND A CHOICE OF VINDALOO SAUCE IF YOU WANT IT SPICIER..ON OUR CONSEQUENT VISIT TO THE RESTAURANT WE TRIED A FANTASTIC CARROT SALAD..WHICH THE WAITER RECOMMENDED..IT WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST I HAVE TRIED..A WARM SALAD TEMPERED WITH CURRY LEAVES AND MUSTARD SEEDS...WE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT...ALSO THINK THE OWNER LATIKA DOES A GREAT JOB OF ALWAYS GREETING US...MOST OFTEN AS SOON AS WE ENTER..ITS NICE TO SEE SMALL BUSINESSES BEING GOVERNED WELL. WE WILL DEFINTLEY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ALL OUR FRIENDS

MY REVIEW: I've had VERY inconsistent dining experiences since the new owner, Latika, took over. She has been very warm and welcoming and the complete opposite at other times. She does not come across as sincere. She could do a lot to improve her social skills. Our comments about the quality of some dishes seemed to fall on deaf ears. This was not the case when Chef/Owner Kiran was here. Food and service were always consistent. Does anyone know if Chef Kiran has opened her new restaurant? I don't think I'll be back to Ashiana's anymore.
