I tried both spicy and regular link. The tomato based sauce served here is warm and wonderful. It was smokey with not too much spice. Only downside is I like BBQ for dinner and they are closed at 7:30 p.m. and not open on Sunday. The other thing is the parking lot is either empty or else you can't find a place to park even though there may only be a handful of people inside. Odd charisma but okay to very good BBQ. BTW... The person who was with me during those two visits ordered brisket, and he said that the meat was "so-so." Whoever reported that this place was the "best" in Houston has evidently not been to a really "best" place. They would likely even go for that terrible "Luling City Market" over on Richmond. They actually serve real BBQ at very reasonable prices. Delicious beef, very tasty sausage, and the portions are quite generous. In fact, the people that work here even answered a question of mine with more than just a blank stare! Charlie's is definitely an honest-to-goodness BBQ joint in the middle of Bellaire.
