MY REVIEW: Great food, friendly wait staff. This is THE place to be, if you want to try something new and exciting. Blackened catfish, courtbouillon and the combeaux with the crab bisque and oyster poboy were amazing. Prices were fair and service was excellent; we will definitly be going back.

MY REVIEW: I've been here a few times and the food is always good. The wait staff however....I guess when you have people working at one place for too long, they don't accept change very well. I'm not sure about any changes, but on two seperate occasions I got to listen to two of the waitresses complain about these said changes and complain and complain. The next time I go back, I'll make sure I don't get one of these charming ladies. Maybe if they hate working here so much, they should find new jobs.

MY REVIEW: My mother and I went here for lunch on a Thursday and really enjoyed it. I had the shrimp po-boy and gumbo. The po-boy's shrimp was fresh and breaded there (not frozen) and the gumbo was a thin like my Moms.
Lunch prices are good too.

MY REVIEW: I agree with others -- the seasoning on the Oyster bar Trash was too much for the crab -- which tasted as though it has been frozen. We went on a Tuesday and there was not a lot of people there. Drinks were good. Had the Fried Shrimp and Fried Catfish. Catfish was good but not great. Shrimp was OK. Also got the fried crawfish tails. Definitely had been frozen and were quite tasteless. Overall, our meals were "just OK". Service was good. Not sure if it is worth the price of returning -- I look forward to other reviews to see how it goes

MY REVIEW: Best, best, best oyster po boy....grilled flounder was excellent, shrimp po boy very good, fries and onion rings ok.....service was very good, drinks adequate and the atmosphere is fine for a casual place....only downside was the "oyster bar trash" appetizer, the seasoning over powered the crab, but was ok with the shrimp....over all, easily recommend.

MY REVIEW: The ER X-ray crew from Memorial Hermann - TMC took over the back room this past w/end; there were 15-20 of us throughout the 4 hours we spent there. From the crawfish to the boudin balls, the stuffed mushrooms to the po boys, we ate it ALL and then some, not to mention the drinks. Four hours later and and few 'Benjamin Franklins' less, we left, stuffed, happy, and realizing that Mardi Gras Grill is probably the best place in the city now for Cajun food, especially the mud bugs.
Bryan, our server, was first rate, and he and the owner helped to make it a great night for us to all get out and blow off some steam w/ friends while getting some great food and drinks on top of it. We'll definately be back - be we gotta at least wait until pay day! LOL

MY REVIEW: I hate goin' to dis place...ever'body who eat crawfish, catfish, gumbo, etouffee, courtbouillon (all the usual suspects) is line' up out de door and makes it hard to git a table. People don' leave. De jes stay hear and order more ta eat. Dis weeken' de throw a crawfish party and use the two adjoinin' parkinlots...just for a place to eat, never you mind a place to park you car.
But threw it all, de service is the same good 'member-wha-chew-ordered and brung it to you jus' as you order it! De Same way you ax fo' it.
I don' min' tippin'big, me, no, not a'tall, 'cause the little ladies they deserve it all. Dey works hard for dair tips and it keeps there here, not wand'rin' job to job. You get consistent waitressin' 'cause the waitresses never keave and they git to know you, how to time your drinks, when to bring you more sauce or suggest somethin' more. Dey wort' a lot o' money to dis place.
And de food and the service (and de price) are the strong parts of dis place. What's missing is parking and about twict de num'er of tables.
Y'all try it. You see. Y'all be back...and I see you dere. I'm de old fat white guy in the corner wid a tray of crawfish and a big white bib. Me, enjoying it all.
Mickey....

MY REVIEW: I just go for the crawfish...they are absolutely the best at crawfish...I have tried crawfish at other places and Mardi Gras outbeats any other place.
I can't wait for this crawfish season

MY REVIEW: Mardi Gras Cafe is where I head for sinus clearing spicy goodness. The blackened scallops are out of this world as where as the courtboullion and killer gumbo. The cocktails are generously poured by seasoned bar professionals and the oysters are quickly shucked by friendly Juan. The neighborhood crowd is diverse and nice enough to want to stick around for another drink, dozen.
I dont know about fried pickles, as I would never order that, but I know for fact the spice factor is adequate for cajun junkies like myself...but I always add a douse of lousiana hot sauce or tabasco to punch it up... like I said sinus clearing goodness.
Cute waiters and sassy bartenders...people who have been in the bidness for awhile...they know how to make you feel at home.

MY REVIEW: I have to say I was really disappointed in Mardi Gras Cafe. I found everything we ordered, from the fried pickles to the grilled crab cakes to be incredibly bland. I had to put pepper on everything, a lot of it. While the french fries were very tasty, they certainly aren't enough for me to visit again. When I eat "cajun inspired" food, I expect it to have a little more flavor as I'm from New Orleans and know what that means. Too bad because the location is great and the place is very welcoming.

MY REVIEW: Went for happy hour with a friend desperately needing a drink. The Hurricane did the trick. Loved the fried jalapenos, very spicy if that's not your thing the fried pickle are great too. The prices were great and the server never let our drinks get empty. Love the place!

MY REVIEW: Houston singles in the dinner club Eight Friends Out got to chow down at Mardi Gras Grill for 3 nights. The food was great--and very spicy--my Cajun potatoes made my head lift off!!! Loved the Cajun fries too. Others praised the shrimp stuffed with crab meat and the blackened tuna. The Mississippi Mudslide was the hands down favorite dessert, a chocolatey cream pie with crushed oreo crust and chocolate chips... tres delicieux!
Had a problem with the night managers trying to dissuade us from coming each night--they didn't appear to like the large group taking up space...and the first night, I was overcharged, but the General Manager was apologetic and made everything right. Then the third night was perfect, except now the night managers don't like me--c'est la vie! The waiter (Patrick) and waitresses who waited on us, though, were fabulous! So, I have to say that, despite a few bad apples, over all the experience was tres bon, thanks to the professionalism of the GM Ronnie (Kudos!), the hard working servers, and the great Cajun food!

MY REVIEW: I recently visited this place and was very satisfied. We had oysters on the half shell and creamy crawfish bisque for appetizers and they were awesome. The coubillion was great and the crawfish although a bit small were very tasty. Did I forget to mention the saxaphonist playing during dinner was very pleasant. I do intend to visit again during happy hour for the Hurricanes.

MY REVIEW: The food was great! They have a spinch and artichoke dip that is the best I have ever had. The wait staff is very nice and efficient. On one occassion shared the Grilled seafood platter and everything was outstanding, second time, I had a shrimp poboy and it was the best I have yet to find in Houston. I am originally from Louisiana and I must say this place has truly captured the fine eating of New Orleans with their REAL french bread and tastfully delighting cajun style. I loved it and recommend it highly to anyone look for some good Louisana poboys and shrimp/fish boxes.

MY REVIEW: Wow...this place is HUGELY overpriced. I had a "Cajun Chicken Sandwich" and while it was good, there was nothing cajun to it, and it was $8.95.....for fries and a sandwich. We ordered fried stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, and they brought out 4 the size of hush puppies...those were $6.95. ACK! I was expecting 6-8 for $7. I definetly won't be going back.

MY REVIEW: I have come here many times when it was F*loyd's and loved it. Same place, different name. We all ate boiled crawfish. I personally like it spicy and this was done just right. Most of the crawfish were small but a few big ones to fill you up. I am not a fan of corn, but it was sweet and juicy with a hint of the spice from the flavoring. The boudin was not good at all. It was hard almost burnt on the outside and too much rice and no spice on the inside. I am not sure who they are ordering it from, but it was not from Louisiana.
The menu looked good, and I will go back to try some other items, but for crawfish I say 2 thumbs up!

MY REVIEW: It's now called the Mardi Gras Cafe - same menu. It's just ok not worth a special trip. A real Cajun food lover would be unhappy with the food there. They use Chinese crawfish in the etoufee, pasta and fried. Chinese crawfish are simply mediocre, as are the shrimp used from shrimp farms. The gumbo is fair but tasted like they put liquid smoke to flavor. The waiter was nice, hard worker. Over the years, food has declined in quality and flavor.

MY REVIEW: Food is fine.
Don't go after dark. My car was broken into. They said the guy that was out there was help in the kitchen so it cost me a window and a briefcase. The place is surrounded by people walking around and hanging at the Chevron. The cop said if someone is out there it's ok.
It seems like the customers safety and vehicles should be worth having someone in the parking lot.

MY REVIEW: Food was great, price was great and service was great. I had the boild crawfish as well as Etoufee. The etoufee could have used a little improvement, but other than that, it was excellent. The only reason I haven't gone back, is because I quit work in that area. I do plan on going back.

MY REVIEW: We loved the place and will return. Food, service, prices are all great. It was our first dinner at a Cajun place - guests from out of town requested this type of food and I'd seen Floyd's off Durham while driving by a number of times and heard the adds on sports radio 610. I definately passed the test - and we'll be back for re-test soon!
Thanks.

MY REVIEW: I hated this place! Overprized! I ordered some shrimp, and they were O.K. not even that great...definitely not worth the price, food portion was crazy for the price. My cousin ordered alligator and they brought it out to him fried, it was more like an appetizer...he said it was horrible and that the best alligator you can have is served as a slab of meat, definitely not fried. This stuff looked like popcorn shrimp from [fast food seafood].
The only thing I liked was a cup of gumbo I had when we got there, but once again, my complaint...overpriced for their food.

MY REVIEW: Actually this review is for the newer FM W 1960 location. While personable ol' Floyd is all over the place and all over the help, he's getting this new location organized and consistent. The service was a little confused at first, with new wait help and all. But the gumbo and fried shrimp are superior to most any Cajun restaurant. [another restaurant] gumbo is almost tied, but Floyd's is closer to my home!! I'm pleased and feel that the overall dining experience and value is excellent.

MY REVIEW: The food and atmosphere here is about as Cajun as it gets. The crawfish with corn and potatoes (usually about 4 to 5 dollars per lb.) is the best. The fried catfish can be inconsistant from visit to visit, but the fried shrimp has always been good. Be forewarned though, the spices are not for the faint of heart. The service can be a little slow when it's crowded, but the food is definitly worth the wait. A great family restaurant, my son loves it here.

MY REVIEW: Things are cooked pretty spicy at this restaurant. If you don't like spice, you need to probably go somewhere else! The boiled crawfish are excellent! The last time I had a cup of crab bisque, it was unbelievably full of crabmeat. Everytime I've gone here, Floyd is out and around chatting with customers.
