MY REVIEW: Service was good. Food was good as were the portions.Price was fair. The appetizer Plantains was to much money for the amount you were given 5 on a plate puts them at a $1.20 each. My grilled chops and 2 sides were $8.95 Will I go back? No. I do say this is a must go if you live in the area. Remember Mambo knows food.

MY REVIEW: strong points: nice comfortable decor, cool dining combinations possible (Jamaican, Southern USA, Creole, etc.), pleasant staff, healthy portions

weak points: mediocre beer selection

I ordered the catfish 'jerked' with side dishes of mustard greens (which were spicy) and the Jamaican peas and rice (which had a nice herbal flavor).

The food was fresh, hot (temp), and well seasoned. I had never previously had catfish prepared in a jerk sauce. It's an ideal combination. You can also choose to have your fish fried, blackened, grilled or curried (wow!). Pretty neat!

MY REVIEW: I agree with the other reviewers in that the service was a little slow, although I had a very nice waiter and the staff was genuinely busy and not ignoring the patrons. But, I will definitely go back as the food was good and the place has a nice atmosphere. The cornbread was divine as were the red beans and rice. The fried chicken could've used a bit more spice, ang the greens had just the right "kick". If you are looking for a reasonably priced meal with great portions, Fusion Cafe is a good place to go. The food is quite tasty and has good texture (neither dry nor greasy). I do hope they get more staff as they seem a bit short-handed - the only downside. This was my first time and I hope to become a regular!

MY REVIEW: Food smelled great and we got a table right away. Ordered jerk chicken and hamburger. Both were good, but jerk chicken wasn't torn into strips like other jerk chicken dishes I have had. Essentially very spicy baked chiken. My glass of red wine was half full, only about 4 ounces. For $7 I expect a full glass. Then we waited nearly 15 minutes to get ourcheck, pay bill and leave. Waitress was working a lot of tables and not goofing off, but didn't get back to us. Interested blend of cooking styles, but not reason enough to make up for the half glass of wine and slow checkout.

MY REVIEW: The food was excellent. My boyfriend got some kind of cajun platter w/jambalaya, blackened catfish, shrimp & dirty rice. The food was excellent though the dirty rice was a little dry & not quite "dirty" enough for me (I'm used to homemade). We ordered a side of red beans & rice, & I had the shrimp etouffe. Oh Yeah!! Even the fusion tea was wonderful. The only complaint I had was the waitress. She was terrible!! She flippantly told us she didn't know about many things on the menu & hadn't tried some of them, & we later saw why as she ate her nachos at the bar in clear sight of the diners!! She was not very attentive & we had to practically dance on the table to get her attention though she seemed really interested in her numerous phone conversations that she enjoyed on her cell phone, again at the bar. Because of her, we at least knew that the food was really good b/c we stayed despite her. I'd definitely go back though I'd hesitate to eat in if I saw her!! The food was wonderful, & we actually saw some decent & more attentive wait staff (maybe I'll sit in their sections).

MY REVIEW: I have died and gone to heaven! I've searched high and low in Houston to find a place that serves GOOD, AUTHENTIC southern/ethnic food. In other places either the food was too greasy and the surroundings depressing, or the prices too high and the food was so-so. Fusion Cafe blends great food, creative dishes, and nice presentation in an casually upscale atmosphere. My only complaint is that they often seem short-handed on waitstaff, so the service is a little slow. But definitely worth the wait. I only discovered it a few weeks ago and have taken several friends to try it out. No one has been disappointed.

MY REVIEW: The service was excellent and the server knew everything about the menu.

Great Southern cooking. They make their own hot sauce so be certain to ask

for it. It's also available for sale.

Excellent place to take your guests from north of the Mason Dixon Line.

MY REVIEW: I absolutely love Fusion Cafe! I went out on a limb and took my father (who is very hard to please and loves Southern food), and he was delighted. Now when he comes to town he specifically requests this restaurant. We took a large group (about 10) for his birthday in March, and they handled it with ease. The server (I think his name was Derrick) was very personable and made sure we were happy. I have no complaints about the food, although it may be a bit spicy for some. So far I've had the Oxtails, Chicken (in a brown gravy - can't remember the name), Jerk Chicken, and the Chicken and Waffles. The sides are always fresh and not overcooked. And the Bread Pudding.....what a treat! Another thing I like is that the food isn't greasy or overly fatty. I've gone to quite a few soul food places and that seems to be a problem for me (I feel like I've gained 10 pounds in one sitting). This is truly homecooking in a cozy, earthy atmosphere. Great for a date.

MY REVIEW: I really ws suprised by the food here. We had the sampler appetizer platter which was definitly different but very excellent. The Plantains were wonderfully cooked and sweet. The service was very freindly and polite and explained everything to us but they bothched up 2 things on our order which was a drag. Everything is Spicy so stay away if you can't take the heat! Will goback again. 7 out of 10.
