MY REVIEW: My wife and visited Baker Street Pub in Katy this past week and will not return.

My wife ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and I ordered the chicken breast with some sort of garlic sauce with rice pilaf. The chicken on both dishes was bland at best and the garlic sauce on mine did nothing for the dish. The rice pilaf was sticky and just plain terrible. I ordered an iced tea with my meal and it tasted more like water with lemon, just not good.

Our server was horrible to boot. We sat for a very long time with no server. When she did show up, she did apologize and continued by saying that she was outside cleaning off the patio chairs and tables since it had just rained. So we ordered our drinks and food. Someone else brought our drinks as well as our food. I went through the entire meal with an empty tea glass until I finally got up and filled it myself. The whole time, the waitress was talking with a bigger table next to us which was filled with people who were obviously regulars. The waitress stood by the table next to us filling their water glasses and beer glasses by using the pitchers already on the table. The next time we saw our waitress was when she brought the bill.

We have decided that wait staff need to realize that their tips are earned, not a given. My wife and I tip very well when we receive good service, well above the 20% range for outstanding service. This night, we left no tip at all. I've done this one time before and that was probably 10 years ago or so. No more tips for bad service.

MY REVIEW: Maybe it's just the Sugar Land location, but this is as British as Chuck E C*heese is Italian. The burgers were good but the waitress said no HP sauce? WTF? The look I got when I asked for vinegar for my chips was odd since this is suppposedly a British pub. The Sheperd's Pie's not bad. Didn't try the scotch egg but I should have since I was told I couldn't get a side of Branston pickle. Maybe it was just a bad waitress but I probably won't go back.

MY REVIEW: Since there's hardly a tuppence difference between this pub and Brian O'N*eill's across the street, it comes down to ambience and comfort. Baker Street is another sports bar dragged up in Brit-pub #1 style. The food is modest - my partner said her Cobb Salad as alright, whereas my fish-and-chips was pretty undistinguished. The service was pleasant but slow, vexing given the relatively few patrons in the place early Saturday evening.

The server didn't really know her beers. Worse, we ordered and received possibly the worst Sam Adams brew we've ever had: the Oktoberfest. Either this particular keg is bad; or the folks up in Boston don't know how to brew a good Oktoberfest. In any case, we both agreed the beer was skunky and traded it in for more tasty pints with the perfect acquiescence of our server.

Since [a] The G*ingerman with its wealth of great beers is equally right across the street; and [b] I have found more comfort at Brian O'N*eill's, it's unlikely I will return to Baker Street: a trial balloon that never got off the ground for me.

MY REVIEW: this is one of the hot spots for sugar land nightlife, with a mixed crowd of older and younger people. it stinks like smoke (even during the day for lunch) but it is a bar...the food is decent...try to get a table because service at the bar is slow since it is always so crowded. when ordering mixed drinks specify the alcohol. I have had some very digusting cape cods due to cheap vodka.

MY REVIEW: It's a bar. Don't come here if you don't like smoke!! They have great wifi but they don't provide any electrical outlets. This needs to be fixed!!!!

The best food are the spinach salad and the cod strip appetizer. They have great chicken sandwiches and burgers. Lisa is an great bartender! Sit at the bar, don't bitch about the smoke and enjoy!

MY REVIEW: My family and I stopped in for dinner. Being an English Pub, we expected a english pub food. Much to our supprise the menus looked like a C*hilis. The food we did get was ok, the service was a little slow. The biggest problem is that it there is no section for NON SMOKERS. This place has a lot of potential, but lacks so much.

MY REVIEW: This pub is great! It may be rather "Americanized" compared to more traditional pubs, but there are plenty of televisions to watch the games and plenty of great service bringing tasty beverages. Go in and ask for Katia, the hot Russian bartender... she's not only beautiful, but gives great service too. Three thumbs up from this guy!

MY REVIEW: Our office eats there quite a lot and have NEVER received bad service or food. Once my chicken was a little dry and they immediately replaced it. I forgot to mention that on that occasion it was delivered to my office. They didn't just replace the chicken immediately, they gave me an entire new meal, even though I had already eaten the vegetables. I highly recommend the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and get their baked beans. Yum-yum-yum. I highly recommend the Baker's Street Pub in The Woodlands.

MY REVIEW: This place has a cool atmosphere; but don't go to eat there! My grilled chicken caesar was drowning in salty dressing, reuben sandwich was not toasted and they brought out the dressing after a couple bites, said they forgot to put it on!

MY REVIEW: I had been told the Baker Street Pub has the best fish & chips in Houston and on a quest to find the best fish & chips in Houston. I went to the pub in Sugar Land. I would say it was best I have found but not perfect for my taste. It was $6.99 plus tax. You get a large cod filet battered and french fries.

The french fries are commercial, not made on site, but were excellent. They either have a good provider or do some seasoning on their own. They were cooked perfectly and obviously change out frying oil regularly. The fish was a single piece probably 1 ˝ inches or so thick. Loved the batter and like FF tasted like fresh oil had been used to cook. I would say excellent though I prefer thinner filets battered and fried. I want as much batter as fish in each bite. I had iced tea and like most iced tea in Houston it is always weak. I don't know if they don't put enough tea or ice melting dilutes during day. I want to taste the tea not a colored glass of water.

The hostess was very friendly and personable. It did take some time to get waited on yet I think there were only 4 other tables with customers in the area I sat. Finally a waitress ask me had been waited on and everything was fine after I that. Service was prompt as was the delivery of food. Fish was too hot to eat until it cooled a little. The location is on City Walk is convenient in that there is a 5-story free garage behind it.

MY REVIEW: I go to this place every Sunday, and sit at the bar, the bartender Trae is amazing, and the place is always clean and comfortable. The service is excellent. Even the manager comes and chats with me while he is doing his orders. You won't ever see that at S*am's Boat.

MY REVIEW: Decent drinks, very poor food. I had a hamburger and my companion decided to go for the fish and chips even though there were some bad comments about it. Big mistake all around. My hamburger was very very dry. My wife's fish and chips had no flavor at all. When she cut into the fish the grease actually oozed out. Even her fries got soggy from all the grease from the fish. First and last time here.

MY REVIEW: I have been to several Baker St locations and they all have a lot going for them. Although I frequent the Rice Village location the most, it's definitely the worst. It's small and overcrowded and the waitresses are lacking in skill and mental capacity. However, they have a good happy hour ($1.75 drinks) and the food is consistently good if you like greasy bar food (and who doesn't?) They have live music on the weekends but at the Rice Village location it just adds to the chaos and noise. It's too overwhelming for the size of the place.

MY REVIEW: I'm trying to keep in mind this is a pub and not a restaurant. The service was ok, but that's the only good thing. Fish and chips were tastless and very greasy. I almost overdosed on Tums. My wife had the chicken torta sandwich. It consisted of chopped chicken seasoned with packaged taco seasoning (tasted like that) on a grilled flat bread. Our daughter had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was somewhat burnt. This is a place to have a few drinks and a maybe an appetizer. Don't think of going here for its food. If you're still not sure, think of Baker as you would S*am's Boat. Drink, but don't eat.

Had to get the manager to get our bill when we wanted to leave because our waitress, KRISTINA W. was not any where to be found?!?!

15970 City Walk, Sugar Land, Texas 77479  281.494.0774

MY REVIEW: Strong Points: New place for Sugar Landier's to go and meet. I see lots of people there I know. Decor is great. Lots of beer choices. Live bands. Outside seating. Managers are friendly. Good Fish and Chips. Reasonable dress code. Nice comfy chairs. REAL books on the shelves (that is if you like to read Texas Case Law)

Weak Points: The wait staff NEEDS WORK. It must be the first job for lots of the girls that work there, or Baker Street doesn't do much training. Dont go to lunch between the hours of 2 and 6 on weekends. Last time we went, the food took forever, they burned it the first time, then the 2nd serving (Shepherd's Pie) they brought out was cold. The grilled tuna is tasteless. (Oh yah, its an English pub).

More weak:
Late in the evening when there are bands, its usually very loud and very crowded, much like Sherlox. Not too crowded, but nevertheless, hard to move around. The gaming area is pitiful. Its about as big as my livingroom. The pool tables are about 2 feet apart and encroach on the dart area.

Its better than nothing in Sugar Land but it needs some work.

MY REVIEW: Amazingly good food!

My expectations were not high at first. We tried carry out and were very pleasantly surprised.

Over a few weeks we tried the:
Fish & Chips - Wonderful
Chicken Pot Pie – Excellent
Shepard’s Pie – Excellent
Chicken Medallions – Excellent
Chicken Torta – Excellent
All carry out.

Overall excellent, belying it’s humble pub offerings.
Highly recommended.
