MY REVIEW: Okay, maybe they don't know my name, but I've been there alot more than "4-6 times". Having been in the Marines, I went to Korea 3 times. When I came home to Texas in 1996, I did a search for Korean restaurants and found Nam Gang. It was the first and only Korean restaurant I've tried in the Houston area. Extremely authenic. Very good flavor, quality, and quantity. One time we did have to change waitresses, but not at my request. She spoke very little English and I speak very little Korean, so she got someone else. If the staff doesn't recognize me, someone stays near to see if I know what the heck I'm doing; they have always been ready to offer me assistance if I look confused. I've taken friends there that have eaten at other Korean restaurants and they have converted to Nam Gang as their favorite. Under the new owners, the food seems to have gotten better -- and I didn't think it could! I keep going back and will for a long time!

MY REVIEW: We went in and the hostess seated us, but no one ever spoke to us during this, or greeted us. We sat there for about 5-10 minutes, and no one ever came to the table. (During this time, there were no other customers in the restaurant, but the restaurant was open.) So we got up and left because of this rudeness.

MY REVIEW: The food is the best of all Houston korean restrurants, I specially liked the "Goat Meat Soup" (Yum Sou Tang?), you can even order it as lunch special even it's actually not on the lunch special menu list. You have to forgive their service, don't expect the same as Y*ao's restrurant. Be patient, and you will get all you need. As far as G*reen pine, nothing worth mentioning except their so-called service. If you would like to find authenticate places as I do, Nam Gang is a good Korean choice.

MY REVIEW: Im an american with asian wife. We love the delicious food at Nam Gang. Great value, excellent marinated meat to grill on your table. The flourescent lighting is a pretty poor choice for a restaurant (more suited for a dry cleaner). Bathrooms are not as clean as I think they should be. But the food and wait staff are always good and accomodating. We love to go to Nam Gang in colder weather when you really appreciate the table grill. Lots of side dishes accompany your entree and they will bring you as much as you ask for. Drink lots of Jin Ro to accompany your meal.

MY REVIEW: I've been to Nam Gang for 3 times since it changed the owner. At the first time, everything there was fine as other Korean restaurants. I love their seafood pancake. Just the size of pancake was smaller than green p*ine's. The experience for second time turned down. We had four persons at that time. My friends didn't want to eat too much so we just ordered a pancake, a bbq, and a seafood tofu soup. Then the waitress said the pancake was not one order. It was an appetizer. We didn't get her. Did she mean everyone needed to have at least one order?? She didn't explain to us too much. After that, I asked for some ice because my corn tea was too hot. She looked not very pleased and gave me a ugly face. Then after all dishes were served on table, the waitress didn't come back to serve us anymore. The third time, I went there again. It's all because the Green P*ine was closed suddenly and my friends said ok, let's go Nam Gang across the street. This time the waiter told us they didn't serve corn tea. Hey, come on. Every Korean restaurent serves corn tea and now they were kind of enforcing every customers to order something to drink.

I miss Green P*ine. Hope it just moved to other place rather than closed forevery. Otherwise, I got to find another Korean restaurant instead. My advice? Don't go Nam Gang!!!

MY REVIEW: The boneless kalbee was delicious here along with all their side dishes. The best kalbee I have had in Houston so far. I would definitely take my friends here again. Only problem I had was the service. The waitresses were overworked and took a long time to service us. We had to wait awhile for a table even though there were a lot available, again probably overworked. The place was also dirty, but the food was really good.

MY REVIEW: This is the place to go for bulgolgi - Korean BBQ in Houston - they differ from the other places in the area by having an open grill and add charcoal to the gas flame. Their portion sizes are great, the zucchini pancake is wonderful and everything about the place is good but it isn't someplace you go for the ambiance which is a bit lacking but they more than make up for it in the food..
