MY REVIEW: The beignets here are great, they always come out hot with lots of powdered sugar...tastes just like Cafe Du M*onde! The cafe au lait is pretty good too, I've never had a bad cup. The staff is not very friendly but they get the job done quickly.

MY REVIEW: My fiancee and I stopped by for a Friday late night snack and were happy to find them open at 11PM -- we ordered the gumbo (very tasty and spicy) and had 2 orders of the Beignet strips. He ordered some coffee afterwards because there was too much sugar and cinnamon for our taste. We thought we'd be the last people inside, but several groups entered after 11PM (even though the sign states closed at 11PM). Atmosphere a little dark, but very comfortable. We'll definitely be back.

MY REVIEW: This place is getting worse. The cafe au lait is not as good as before. The last time I was there, the coffee tasted sourish. It is almost like the milk has gone bad. I went back again another time and this time it is not sour anymore but the coffee is not as good. Maybe they have changed the brand of the coffee. The beignet strips is getting smaller. I get more 1/2 size strips each time I was there. I will stop going to this place now. Wish it is as good as before.

MY REVIEW: THE SERVICE SUCKS!!! My first two times were pleasant and I was in and out in a reasonable time. The food wasn't too bad and the beignets were GREAT! I went today, in a rush during my lunch hour and it took THE WHOLE HOUR to get my order to go. If you have time to waste, this is the place to go. Go if you're not hungry though, so by the time you get your order, you'll be good and starved. A few people who ordered after me got frustrated and asked for a refund, but I stuck it out because I had already been there so long, I didn't have time to go anywhere else and risk waiting longer. Needless to say I was FURIOUS! If I wasn't hungry and didn't want the delicious biegnets, I would have waited around on my order just to throw it back in their faces. I would have called security myself and waited on them to pick me up. I was that pissed. When I finally got my order, no one said sorry for your wait ma'am. No one offered me anything on the house for my wait. Not even a piece of lettuce. If you haven't guessed it by now, I WILL NEVER give them my business again. It's one thing to have someone wait and acknowledge their wait and apologize, it's another to act like you did nothing wrong and I'm the one wrong or stupid for getting pissed off. Now I'm sitting at my desk, typing this review and still mad for not having time to eat. I have to work and eat which only makes me angrier!

MY REVIEW: We hadn't been in over a year now and decided to have beignets since we were in the neighborhood. Big mistake. It's not the place we remembered. They seem to have changed owners. The counter lady was rude and could not be bothered to take our orders. Actually she didn't bother to say "I'll be right with you" or greet us. Instead she raised her finger to let us know to wait. Then she proceeded to talk to her other counter person for a few minutes. We had to wait for her to finish her conversation. We were so baffled at such rude service and complete lack of customer service. The place looks a lot dirtier than before. Apparently, they haven't kept up with it. Oh and the beignets... definitely not worth it. We won't be back and will make sure to spread the word.

MY REVIEW: My husband stopped in the first time to fill the time before a store opened and were pleasantly surprised. The service was very friendly, the beignets were made after our order, so they were hot, coated in powdered sugar, and since we asked for two plates we received 4 beignets instead of our order of the customary 3. We have gone back every weekend for 2 months now, so that if we are in Houston and we don't have time to stop by, I go home disappointed. I recommend to give the Westheimer location another try, they definintely have gotten their act together since these earlier reviews. There is always a mix of different people, families, couples and singles.

MY REVIEW: *WARNING* – If you have eaten at this location in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, be forewarned that it is not the same restaurant.

Stopped in on a whim one morning with the family for a quick breakfast - should have turned around when we saw the place was crowded, but no one had food on their tables, there were no coffee cups and no menus. Even the menu boards over the grill/prep area had been removed. It was like we were at the restaurant’s clearance sale before they shut their doors forever.

A frazzled lady, who looked as if it were her first time “working” in the restaurant, took our order. As she gave orders to two unresponsive teenage boys, we got our coffee and took our seats.

After about ten minutes, one of the teenagers walked out of the kitchen and started setting plates of beignets on empty tables. Expressionless, he looked around and just started handing them out randomly. People were looking at him, telling him they didn’t order this or that and he would just take them to the next table. He sat some beignets on an empty table behind us and after some time he picked them up and placed them on our table without comment. One group of ladies, that was waiting when we got there, still didn’t get their order during the “beignet lottery”.

One thing that didn't help matters was the dead silence. I think there used to be music playing, but then again it seemed like we were now at a no frills restaurant. Music definitely would have helped break some of the customers' tension.

When we left, there were more people in line and many more sitting at empty tables. I don’t know what happened to this place, but it's definitely not the same. We will not be going back.

MY REVIEW: I've been there a few times and will never go back. This restaurant is dirty. The men's room smelled a little like urine. I was able to overlook a few things, including the nasty Muffaletta (J*ason's is a lot better) that I had there once, because I liked their bengiets and I wanted somewhere to go to munch on stuff and drink coffee and do some work.

First of all, the place is run by high school kids. They had no comprehension of customer service. The final time I went in there, I had ordered 3 bengiets. Twenty minutes went by. No bengiets. There were some other customers in there and I was drinking coffee so I was willing to cut them some slack. But when I inquired about my food, they looked at me and took another 3 minutes to figure out that they had just forgotten about my order on their little notepad. Skipped right by it. And when they discovered it, they took another FIVE minutes to start making fresh bengiets. It was absolutely ridiculous. I have never seen such nonchalance out of people whose supposed job is to please the customer. I asked for my money back. They looked at me like I was crazy. And I left. I called later to ask to speak to the manager, and it was one of the kids. So I asked for the owner to call me and left my number. She never called.

Don't waste your time! And besides the bengiets, the food isn't very good.

MY REVIEW: I loved the decor and the beignets (and not just cause they were free the day I went). The staff was also great; very friendly. However, the cafe au lait left a lot to be desired. For one thing I've never had it premade and out of a machine before (the kind that most places use for lemonade) made with what was most likely powder mile. Heck, even at S*tarbucks (where it’s known as a Misto) they give you fresh steamed milk. Can't wait until I go to New Orleans ini February and have the real thing.

MY REVIEW: My first visit to this chain was at the new Royal Oaks location on Westheimer near Kirkwood. I must say that the service we received last night was very upsetting. The manager at this location is very unfriendly to the point of being rude. Seemed too preoccupied to even look at you when you are ordering, no "thank you" even when I paid. The glasses for our drinks were shoved in front of me and she was wearing no name tag. There were 5 in my party and we all felt the very hostile mood she was in.

The final event of our pleasant visit was when I went back to the counter to place an additional order. The manager shoved a plate with a beignet on it in front of me without a word but I later found that it was my daughter's order.

The unprofessionalism and courtesy by this manager is unreal.

On the positive side, we thought the food was very good but not sure I will return after what I experienced last night.

MY REVIEW: The pictures of New Orleaans made me feel close to home. I agree with someone about the food...I had etoufee and it did have too much sauce in it and not enough meat. The beignets tasted authentic but the portions of food are way too small for the price they charge. The red beans and rice was good but the sausage in it wasn't...I loved the salad and dressing. They never give enough hush puppies. The people were nice except one Asian lady who made a comment I didn't like. Her comment was "You're in here a lot" weren't you here yesterday?"

MY REVIEW: I always heard about how good a beignets were but never had one in my life. Lousiana is far for me so the next best thing was to go try Crescent City Beignets. Let just say that my experience there was not good and the food was not good for me to come back again. The staff seems busy working eventhough no customers were there except for me and my family and still I have to wait long for service and food. Oh well I just need to save up money and try the real stuff in Lousiana.

MY REVIEW: I first decided to try this restaurant out just after I had returned from New Orleans(probably a mistake). I thought it would be fun to compare their red beans and rice to what I had on bourbon st. What followed was utter dissapointment... Bland is all I can say, extremely bland, with little to no meat. I have to be honest, ive had more authentic reds bean and rice out of a uncle bens box. A few months later I tried Crescent City again with a friend, I thought it might be better by that point because the restaurant was only a week or so old when i first ate there; but it was still bland as ever. That I concluded was my final visit. The beignets aren't bad, but certainly nothing comparable to cafe du monde.

MY REVIEW: Speaking as someone who makes a point to visit the original coffee stand in New Orleans' French Market at least once a year, I'd say the Westheimer location had some difficulty a year ago, but seems to have it's act together (for beignets at least) this time around. The beignets last week were hot, fluffy, and coated with powdered sugar--Yum! I have to admit I was so disappointed in the cafe-au-lait the first time I visited, that I haven't tried it since--I just bring my own coffee and enjoy the beignets.

MY REVIEW: Being originally from the Crescent City I thought this might be a nice chance for an authentic experience as the name would suggest. Too bad the food didn't come close to measuring up.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is quite nice and there are enough photos of New Orleans and of the French Quarter to bring back memories. The staff seemed a little too busy to be nice (even though the place was empty).

I had the jamablaya. A serious dissapointment. It had too much tomato sauce in it and WAY too little meat. I may have have one piece of sausage and two chuncks of chicken. Plus the bowl was far from a generous portion. I had to load it with tobasco to give it enough flavor to enjoy it at all.

My wife had the red beans and rice. Same pattern, very little sausage, bland, and a small portion.

I find it VERY annoying when restaurants claim to serve authentically New Orleans style food and turn out to have absolutely no resemblance to the wonderful food that you would have if you were actually in the Crescent City. I know that tastes vary throughout the country but Houston is full of people that love spicy and full flavored food and I wish that this place would have stayed true to the traditions of the food they claim to represent.

The beignets were basically sopapillas with powedered sugar on them, I would say they were good although not authentic. Coupled with the photos on the walls they were the only saving grace.

MY REVIEW: It started out as a nice place, but the kidiots overwhelmed it, and now its just got no atmosphere. If I want coffee and pastry in Sugar Land, I now go elsewhere- when I pay more than Denny's prices for coffee, I expect at LEAST one free refill! Not to mention the last 2 times the beignets were precooked and therefore cold. YUCK.
